Sunrise of Palos Park

Our contact was [name removed]. After meeting [name removed] at the desk in the lobby she assisted us in logging into the Kiosk and taking our temp for the COVID procedures. [name removed] then took us to her office for our meeting. The lobby area was clean and spacious - part of this area is currently being used for families to meet their family members (2 at a time) and sit and chat. Since we are mainly interested in the memory care for Mom that is what [name removed] concentrated on during our meeting. Currently the Memory Care area is full since empty rooms need to be available to quarantine if necessary for COVID. This facility does not utilize motion sensors or bed alarms. There are two doctors on staff (female/male) also a nurse practitioner - the family is involved in the visits the Dr has with your family member. A nurse is on staff and is responsible for distributing the medication. This facility utilizes Omni CVS pharmacy for each resident's medications. Hospice is available and this facility also has an internal Home Health program. For activities a Life Enlightenment Manager is employed to setup activities. Mindfulness music, scenic drives and larger events were part of their Pre COVID activities. Laundry and house cleaning is included with rates. Additional costs to daily rates would include additional assistance when dressing, showering, grooming and incontinence (3 levels of fees here pending need). We walked through the facility which was clean and odor free, we viewed 3 different type of rooms available, seen residents in their rooms, walking about and enjoying companionship in their sitting/tv area. Residents looked clean and happy, workers were polite. The security here is good with a key pad setup for all doors and the courtyard is closed off from public access/viewing. The courtyard can be used for family gatherings/ decorating etc. and a room is also available upon notice for family gatherings.

[name removed] was a great help in so many aspects of our search. Really passionate about her job and an asset to Sunrise SL.

The interactions I have had with the staff members there, it has all be very good. Our friend who is there is extremely happy with his living conditions, and we really enjoys the meals and dining service.

Deposit paid on [date removed] for occupancy, need to find the mover that one of the facilities gave me need 2 pieces of furniture from her home moved to Sunrise. UPDATE [date removed] We have been pretty happy at Sunrise, while no place is like home for my mom. This has been comfortable for her. One pretty major incident with a nurse not responding to my request for a doctor and some testing for her that lead to kidney failure and delayed hospitalization. She lectured me on what insurance would and would not cover, I did not care I knew my mom was sick! I had to meet the doctor on his rounds to talk to him and explain my mom's problem to get help which was delayed. By then she was in ESRD! Sad to say that she is running low on funding and time to start making some changes, I wish I didn't have to relocate her but there are sadly no options at Sunrise for her financially. So much money has been spent here our hope was for her to end life here without any other changes. I just hate to have to change her environment. She knows the staff when she is aware has made some good friends. I am comfortable most of the time with the care she receives. Moving her will be rough on me as well as this has taken such a toll on me, my health and home life.

Ultra modern and new. Very nice. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Just a little too far for our needs.

We loved the facility. We especially loved Ranger the house resident dog. The verandas and rocking chairs gave the facility the feel of home.

My mom is getting good care. They are providing the help she needs and she is secure within the community. Overall it is good but there was a small issues. They did lose some things in the laundry but they found it later on.

This community was nice and it was a close second to the community we chose. This community has a smaller memory care unit. The people we met were friendly and helpful. This community had a waiting list when we were looking.

I hear my mom is doing really well and she is now settling into the Memory Care. She is safe and the community is in a very convenient location. It is easy to visit her and she has got many guest that stop by. That is why we picked this community and it looked very nice. She has a lot of her own furniture in her room.

I thought this place was very nice and had a lot of beautiful features to it. Everything was very clean and they had a lot of great amenities available to all of the residents. The staff where on time to our tour appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. It was just not the right location for mom in the end decision.

My tour of Sunrise of Palos Park went well. The tour guide was very friendly and had information prepared for me. The facility was a bit older and in need of some updating.

A nice community but the residential units were a little dark, and there weren't enough common spaces such as a movie room or game room, like in other communities.

I have no complaints of my tour of this community. The staff where on time to our appointment and where very friendly to my father and I. They gave us a very detailed tour of there facility and made sure to answer and questions that we had for them in detail. All of the residents looked happy and content in there living environment which was pleasant to see. It was just not the right fit for my dad and we ended up choosing a different place for him.

I had a good tour of this community, everything went well. The staff was friendly, and kind to my family and I. The community looked nice, and appeared to be well-kept. It was a nice experience, but I found a community that suited our needs better.

I did not have a pleasant experience at all with this community. It was absolutely a horrible tour. When I had arrived to look at the facility they had brought me to a section where my father would be placed and it was not somewhere I would ever want him to be. All of the residents where in wheel chairs just sitting and in a dark room among other disturbing things I had saw.

We did like this facility, it was one of our top 3, but decided to go with another one at this time.

Neat Clean 15 miles east

So far everything is working out pretty well for my mother. We do feel this was the right move for her and her needs. My husband and I am not in the same state, but we know she is being cared for well here. It is a good safe community. The family is comfortable with the care they are providing her with. Everything has worked out very well.
