It's quiet, peaceful, clean. Staff is very nice and helpful. We picked this community because our Uncle is quieter and religious.

The staff are all very friendly and courteous. Going off of what my dad says about the food. the portions are not big enough and the dining area is only open for an hour. The elderly need more time to eat.

I would definitely recommend the assisted living. Smaller --1st floor residents. The 2nd floor is retired nuns residents. Dining room is shared by both 1st and 2nd floor at different times. They have an onsite chef and a nice variety of food to choose from. Plenty of activities, if they choose to participate. There is a chapel in the same building. For Catholics, it is a perfect location.

It is a wonderful place to live, safe, secure, very spiritual, clean & neat, plenty of activities, meals ok, responsive staff, a broad range of care at one facility. I would recommend to other families.

The food is outstanding. You order off a menu like in a restaurant with real silverware and dishes and tablecloths. They are also very covid conscious. They have comfortable rooms with your own bathroom that is accessible. The facility is also very clean. I would recommend Franciscan Village to others, but I do not know if they have any openings right now.

Our family had an in person tour and the Franciscan Village would have been our first choice but at the time they had no spaces available. It is a very nice facility and very close to our entire family. The community is a little closer to what we were hoping for in terms of expectations. They had a lot of things about it that we really liked. One being that it is spiritually driving and our loved one is Catholic. We thought she would have really enjoyed that.
I would tell people that this was a safe and secure place for your loved one. This would be a safe community for your parent or loved one. They took great care of keeping COVID out of the community for the residents.

I think it is ridiculous that my family has to be worried because during this CRISIS they are still admitting new people!!! No other places are accepting new move ins, so why is this place putting everyone even more at risk and really proper screening? I heard all they do is take temperatures now what good is that if some people lag on sympt. This place needs to get their stuff together because right about now it looks like pockets are more important than the residents & staff!!!!!!! I will not be giving my name! I already talked to someone from MTH and was not helpful so sharing my experience with others.

Response from Franciscan Village
September 12, 2019Thank you for your review. Our picturesque campus is just 27 miles from downtown Chicago and offers enjoyment, enrichment and quality, convenient care to all of our residents. We're proud to offer a variety of opportunities for social, intellectual and spiritual growth. Thank you again! Our catholic senior living community welcomes residents and families of all faiths within a comfortable environment to help you to stay active, engaged and enjoying life to the fullest.
I’ve never seen a place with such horrible management. For as much money as we pay, the director does not know what she is doing. You can never get in touch with her and waiting for a reply can take weeks. She is unprofessional and as beautiful as this facility once was she is making it lose its value.

May 3, 2019Hello, thank you for your feedback. We were disappointed to learn you are not satisfied with our services and would like to get some more details about your experience. We believe associates should respond to residents and their families in a timely matter, and we are uncertain who you are referring to and which department she represents. Please contact Franciscan Village's Executive Director Dan Bannon at your earliest convenience so he can assist you. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
If your loved one is someone who needs to be social and active I wouldn’t recommend this assisted living unti 200. I visit my mother very often and I hardly see any activities going on. I’m not sure how the activities work but I hardly see anyone. I will see the activitee aide and she seems to be on her computer more than with residents. The staff is great otherwise and I’m very happy with the care provided.

This is a pretty place but ... I was visiting a friends mother and was shocked I didn’t want to make my friend feel bad but, I found some of aides at the assisted living are not nice at all. Very lazy , they yell at the residents I saw one lady ask to be pushed in her wheelchair and an aide say you have to find someone else. I don’t want that treatment for my mother!!! Definitely not at that price. Very disappointed for a catholic facility to be so unkind They don’t have much activity either.

October 4, 2018Thank you for the feedback regarding our community. While we are happy to hear the beauty and cleanliness meet your expectations, we are disappointed to discover you felt we lacked in other areas. Your perspective is very important to us. While looking at various options for my love one I found that this community has a different caliber of people compared to what my relative needed. If you are someone that needs a place for independent living, than this is a wonderful facility. I would rate them a 4.5 for that section there. They have a Chapel there and it’s phenomenal. However, the assisted living or nursing care looks like an old hospital in those sections. If people are desperate with finding a place for their love ones and have someone look after them, I can understand why they would choose this community. However, this place was not a good fit for my love one.

We toured this community for my parents. The staff was nice and they did answer the questions that we had. We liked the menu of the meals that are offered. We liked the activities that would have been helpful for both my parents. We would recommend that families tour this community for the care of a loved one and the value that is offered.

Franciscan Village was beautiful! I think my father would have been very happy here, but it was expensive. If it was not for the price, we would have made this place a top choice.

A Place for Mom has scored Franciscan Village 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
