When we were looking for a place for my grandmother, there were so many that it was confusing. We felt like other places were trying to sell us things we didn't need. Saratoga Grove made the process simple, and their pricing was easy to understand. My grandmother loves it there and has already made new friends. [Name removed] is great and helpful.! [Name removed] is pretty good as well. The nursing staff is not very friendly and do not come when my mom pushes her call button on her pendant. The staff is on their phone while giving medications and does not have a good attitude when working with the residence. I would be very careful recommending this place to friends.

Saratoga Grove, while a little dated, is very clean. And the staff is very friendly and attentive to the resident's needs. The move in process was very organized and there were no issues there. The meals are good, not great. My understanding is that they could stand to add a bit more variety and to increase certain portion sizes (both food and beverage). Overall, yes - I would recommend Saratoga Grove for people looking in this price point.

High turnover of admin and "clinical" staff since sold July 2022. Chaos, poor record keeping, communication. Concerning observations of supervision and attentiveness to residents and families not welcomed (unless they get something out of it). Agency or staff must be a "YES" person to stay employed there. Lacking genuine compassion, kindness and accountability to residents and responsible parties. Profit appears to be the unstated mission. Safety and communication, follow through, training low level. Verify what you are told is actually true. Verify there are providers on call regularly if your loved one can't be taken out. Not the place with good reputation it once was. Search widely and carefully and check variety of references. Talk to others.

I didn't like the community. It felt very dark and gloomy. The atmosphere was not friendly. I didn't like everything being a gray color. The halls all dead ended. I didn't like the elevator. To be honest there was nothing I liked about it. It didn't help that we went to another community first which was so bright and inviting.
Our family had an in person tour and it was a great tour experience it was actually our top choice, everything was very nice but overall it was just a little to pricey.

Saratoga Grove is a very nice facility and all the staff we spoke with seemed knowledgeable and friendly.
This community was just too far from where we live. I loved the community, it was fantastic and clean and the value was great it was just too far away.
I had to move my wife out of here quickly. In the memory care department if someone has a fit they send them away so that they can get more medication. The staff also did not know how to take care of my wife and her needs. We both just did not feel comfortable here at all. They even told me that I needed to pay another nurse to come in and take care of her. I felt that was what I'm paying you guys for. It was a bad experience to say the least.

Response from Saratoga Grove Retirement
January 10, 2017Dear family member, we certainly sympathize with how difficult Alzheimer’s Disease has made life for you and your wife. It is a terrible disease that often makes people feel powerless. While there is no cure for the disease, the Memory Care program at Saratoga Grove is specially designed to accommodate the effects and make life as meaningful as possible for patients and their families. We sincerely hope the community we recommended to you will be able to provide the safety your wife deserves and the peace of mind you deserve.
They really just have very helpful and very friendly staff members working there at the Saratoga Grove and they have always answered any and all of the questions that I have had. It is a top-rated facility.

Saratogo Grove was a very nice place while she was there. The facility was expensive, which is the same every where I guess. I think it was pretty good. A couple of times we had to clean her room but overall the cleanliness was good. Overall it was a good experience considering the bad situation.

This was one of the places we considered when we were looking. It was nice and a lovely facility. This just wasn't a great fit for our grandma, mostly due to personality. We just couldn't picture her walking around and enjoying herself there.

Very friendly place and clean. I feel a studio would not be big enough for my mom. She would like to have a small kitchen area too. This place is 25 years old and they keep it looking good.

A Place for Mom has scored Saratoga Grove Retirement 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
