We moved my mother to Iris in July 2020 and have been very happy from day one! Iris has not only taken care of her memory but her physical well being as well. My mother smile looks healthy, eats well, and takes part in activities much to our surprise! She is always saying how nice everyone is to her and how much she likes it at Iris. It has been a blessing to our family to have the Iris family in our lives.

My sister has resided at Iris Memory Care of Edmond for six months. Every time we visit, I am more convinced that we made the right decision in choosing Iris for her care. She was furious about being placed in memory care, but Iris staff members have been wonderful at helping her adapt and feel at home. For the most part she is now content there. She'll say things like, "Why, this hotel has everything you could possibly need!" or "If you have to be in the hospital, this is the one to be in because everyone is so NICE to you here!" I like that there are planned activities every day. My sister doesn't often choose to participate, but I'm glad there are fun things to do and outings to go on, if she so desires. All in all, an excellent choice!

May 11, 2020Thank you so much, Tandy! We love you guys!
My husband has been a resident at Iris for 11 months and I feel that he is loved and well cared for by their staff. I don't know what I expected, but I have found Iris to be a community that not only tends to their residents' needs, but also has a great support network for the residents' families. The administrators are all on site and often assisting the staff and interacting with the residents. They have also made it clear that they can be reached for advice or concerns at any time. I would highly recommend Iris Memory Care of Edmond to anyone needing dementia related care for their loved one.

Response from Iris Memory Care of Edmond
September 27, 2019We are so glad that the support groups are helpful for you! Thank you for the recommendation.
Between my mother-in-law and my mom, I have personal experience with five senior care homes. Iris Memory Care in Edmond is by far the best. It came highly recommended by the social worker at the geriatric psychiatric ward my mom was treated at. When my brother and I visited, the staff spent a lot of time with us answering our questions. My brother and I also knew two families with loved ones at Iris, and both families were very pleased with their care. Once we moved our mom to Iris, we were surprised and extremely pleased with the environment and her care. Iris has a unique setting, in that their executives’ offices are right there with residents’ rooms, and the executives are hands on in helping to care for the residents. At my mom’s former assisted living home, the attitude seemed to be waiting for her to pass. At Iris, she experienced life again. She loved to walk, and staff spent the time walking with her! She was included in many outings like Braum’s and even the circus, even though she was in the advanced, final stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Her quality of life was the absolute best it could be during her last months of life, and for that we are so grateful! Communication is so important to me, and the staff did a wonderful job calling and texting to keep me informed of Mom’s care. I don’t know that anyplace can replace home, but through our experience, I believe that Iris is the absolute next best thing! I will forever be grateful to them for what they did for Mom!

September 6, 2019We so enjoyed your sweet Momma, and we miss her! Thank you for your support and this kind review!
Our mother is one of the two original residents in Building B. The staff turnover was more than we had hoped for in the beginning, but several fine people did stay and we are so thankful for them. Caring for people with dementia and memory problems is difficult at times, and not for everyone. The newer staff members are also great and they keep things lively. Mom still gets to go on outings and she is always busy with activities, be it crafts, baking or participating in games. She has made several friends in the IRIS community and we can tell she feels connected. We feel that mom's health needs and meds are being monitored closely and that is a very important. Mom is happy when we see her and that is very comforting. We feel confident that the staff at IRIS is taking great care of mom which gives us peace of mind.

Iris Memory care has taken excellent care of my Father. He had many struggles to overcome when he first arrived but the staff has worked with him and now he is calm and happy. He is always clean and he is eating well. He enjoys the activities and the staff members.

September 6, 2019Thank you, Donna! We love your Dad (and his sweaters haha)!
When you are confronted with putting a loved one in a facility, make sure you have somebody with you that isn't emotionally involved. My sister and I were faced with having to take my mom from the hospital to a facility. On Wednesday, [date removed], we took her to IRIS not seeing any other option. She had an appointment the following day with her PMC doctor who told me I should take her home and put her under Hospice Care. Less than 72 hours after she was admitted to IRIS we moved her back to her house as her doctor recommended and contacted Hospice. When I asked about getting a partial refund I was pretty much told, "Sorry Charley, No Refunds". I think it's absurd that for a stay of less than 72 hours cost me $6,000. The only thing these witches at this coven were interested in was getting me to sign the contract. I might also add, that the morning I went to pick her up, she had been left unattended in her restroom. She is a very high risk for fall. I'd never recommend this facility for anything.

They neglect residents unless the residents can function on their own and just over medication many of them. They don’t do activities with residents unless they are fully functioning residents. Then they pick only their favorites to participate. They also have a very high turn over of staff not one aide has been there even a year and staff lacks training. They also only have one cma for two buildings.

Response from Iris Memory Care of Edmond
February 23, 2019Thank you for your feedback. We would like to respond to a few of the concerns you raised. Iris Memory Care of Edmond has maintained an exceptional standard of care with higher than average care ratios, including our CNAs, CMAs, multiple activities staff, and 7-day per week management presence. This standard of care has been vetted by the OK State Health Department with deficiency free annual surveys and zero substantiated complaints at the time of this writing. We are proud of our efforts to reduce staff turnover, and we are grateful for the many employees who have chosen Iris as their place of employment for over a year. We believe our buildings are clean and well-maintained with regular housekeeping and maintenance. We are proud that when you walk into Iris, it is rare to find many of the odors that are commonly present in long-term care environments. We are always looking to improve, however, and welcome a dialogue with you! Please reach out to myself or our executive director so that we might discuss your concerns in person to see how we can address them.
I think they are understaffed and don't have time to connect with the residents and give them adequate attention to their needs.

November 13, 2018We are disappointed this has been your experience. We work diligently to connect with our residents and provide exceptional care with a staffing ratio that is higher than industry average. Thank you for your feedback, however. We will take it into consideration.
The staff is so very kind. It was stressful for me to find the right place for mom, and they worked me through every step. The facility is modern, well decorated, very clean and bright. It's a happy place to visit and mom seems content to be there.

I toured several memory care facilities and settled on Iris. I was impressed with the small size and low resident to staff ratio. Everything is first class. Residents are engages in many structured activities and treated with frequent day time trip outings. The facility is always clean and the meals are great.

Iris has been a great help in taking my wife to her new home. The hardest thing I have ever had to do in our 52 years of marriage. They were very helpful in the move in, spent extra time with my wife to help her get comfortable. The staff is very accommodating when we visit or have questions. Our family is still getting adjusted to our new life with wife & mom being away from us but we are very glad of the place she is in. The management staff is very easy to deal with and available when needed. The facility is very, very nice and the small number of residents is a very big plus. I highly recommend Iris Memory Care!!!!

October 17, 2018We are grateful for the opportunity to get to know your family and care for your beloved wife!
Probably one of the hardest decisions my brother and I have ever had to make was putting our father in a facility where he would receive the care he needed. We, too, looked at various places and finally settled on Iris Memory Care because of the concern, not only shown for our father, but for us as well. Shortly after my dad's arrival, though, there were several changes that took place that caused us some concern. However, the new staff made every effort to put us at ease and with time has proven to us that the care of our father is still of the utmost importance. Because I live out of the country, they have had to make extra efforts in keeping me informed on the progress of my dad and have done so faithfully. In short, they have gained our trust. While the beautiful facilities were a drawing factor (we did not want a place that looked like a nursing home), the fact that Dad has improved since beginning his journey at Iris is the highest praise I can give them.

August 30, 2018We really appreciate the continued trust you have placed in us, Carolyn. We sure do love having your Dad, and we sincerely the appreciate the opportunity to be a part of his life!
My mother-in-law, [name removed], moved into Iris in May from a rehabilitation center in Oklahoma City because of a broken hip. The staff was great with helping us to get her settled into her new home. We chose Iris over other memory care centers because of the resident interaction we saw when visiting. [Name removed] has enjoyed being in the middle of the action and seems most content to be there. The staff all seem to have a real love for the elderly and Alzheimer’s patients. Iris has planned activities and also bring in entertainment from outside that the residents really enjoy. We’ve been pleased with everything so far.

August 30, 2018It's been a pleasure to get to know your family and your mother-in-law! We so appreciate the opportunity to care for her, and we love that she is comfortable in her new home.
My family looked at about 12 memory care facilities in the Edmond area and have been so thankful that we found Iris in the search! They have been wonderful with our mother! We love the staff, we love the smaller size of the facility and we are very impressed with the Executive Director! We finally have peace about mom’s living conditions and know that she is being taken care of in a way that we would if we could be with her everyday! Thanks IRIS!

My whole family and I are so thankful to have found Iris. After struggling with dementia for many years, my father was no longer able to live at home and we finally made the difficult decision to move him to a memory care facility. The professionalism and the quality of care my father receives at Iris demonstrate daily that we made the right choice. In particular, we love the fact that the space doesn't feel like a traditional memory care facility. The staff has a range of personalities to deal with, but are patient and kind in each of their interactions with the different patients. Any issues are communicated quickly and we feel very confident that he is in good hands.

I looked at several memory care facilities about 6 mo ago when I needed Respite Care for my wife. As life goes, we had to transition from respite to full time. The staff at IRIS was very helpful, supportive and top-notch when there was a medical issue that required immediate treatment. I've been very impressed with the compassion and understanding of not only the management but the individual staff that provide the care for the residents. I have no experience with other facilities, but I am very pleased with the choice I made to go to IRIS and with all aspects of the care my wife is receiving.

I moved my Dad to Iris Memory Care from another memory care facility in OKC. I live out of state and wanted a safe, caring community for him with great communication. Iris exceeded all my expectations. The staff knew my Dad, looked for ways to engage him, provide activities and field trips he enjoyed and their communication was excellent. They provided opportunities to FaceTime with him. When I visited the facility I felt included and welcomed. Daddy was well cared for, supported and loved at Iris. And I was too.

I looked at quite a few places before selecting a community for my husband. The staff team’s methods of treatments is innovative, the facility smells nice, the food is good, the rooms there are large, it has a home environment, and the staff overall is just excellent. The main living space has recliners where residents can sit and watch TV and they also provide activities. My husband will say that this is a nice place. The staff is so good with him.
