We picked this community because, of the availability, and it was a center location for family. The facility is very comfortable and the doctor and staff are very good.

They really need some work on communication. Pretty consistently, we got one story from one person, and another person told us something different. And then another person told us something completely different form that. So it was very difficult to get an understanding of what was going on and what their policies were. When I came to them with concerns, they acknowledged them but then didn't do anything about them. One of the main reasons we went there was the size of the units and the fact that they have washers and dryers in the unit. The place is very nice. But we were supposed to get a handbook, which we never got. Wwe were unaware of their visiting restrictions (8 am- 8pm), which were not communicated to us before we moved in. They did not communicate their very strict Covid restrictions, which made the transition for my loved one very difficult. I was disappointed that they had no plan to make the Covid vaccine available to residents and employees. And all around, their communication was very poor.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
September 30, 2022Hi Customer, that’s wonderful to hear. Thanks so much for leaving us a review. Have a wonderful day!
My Mother has been resident since [date removed]. We are constantly informing the staff, including the Director, that her room is not being cleaned thoroughly. Floor is dirty, food tray is stained with spilled food, sheets are not being washed, dust is accumulating on counter. We moved her there because she was unable to do housecleaning chores and we did not want her to live in unsanitary conditions. Well, she is still living in unsanitary condition and we are paying for this?

I only spoke with them on the phone. But the gentleman I spoke with was very honest and helpful. He was very upfront that their services were not appropriate for my loved one's high level of care, and I really appreciated they wouldn’t try to sell us something that hey couldn’t provide. That's not the case everywhere.
We chose Dougherty Ferry because it just seemed like the right fit compared to the other facilities that we looked into. They do have some very caring staff members, a couple really stand out to us. There are some hidden things that you find out once you move in such as how medical things are handled and you do have to supply some things yourself.

They are very friendly, and they know my mom's personality, her likes and dislikes, and they work around her transitional stages of dementia, which she's going through more lately. I would definitely recommend them 100%. The care they have provided has been very good. The staff can be hard to get ahold of, but whenever I need something, they're good about making it happen. My mom doesn't complain about the food, and it seems like they're really good about getting her what she wants to eat. They were one of the least expensive places that we looked at but a great value.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
September 3, 2021Thank you so much for your high rating of Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living & Memory Care. We apologize you had trouble reaching us, we must have just stepped away. We are always here to help, so please reach out if you need anything at all.
I've toured eight facilities and nothing compared to the feeling I had when I toured Dougherty Ferry. I felt at home from the minute I walked in the door. I was greeted warmly and promptly. I went thru their Covid screening process and then was welcomed by the Sales Director. She provided an informative tour, she was greeted by many of the residents along the way and she knew each of their names. All of the employees greeted us as we walked throughout the building. Everyone seemed happy and well cared for. The building is beautiful inside and out. The menu looks like there's something for everyone. Bingo was the activity I observed and it was well attended. Put Dougherty Ferry at the top of your list. You won't be disappointed!

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
August 31, 2021Thank you for your outstanding review of Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living & Memory Care. We are beyond thrilled to hear our community and culture here exceeded everything you were expecting, and that you immediately felt welcomed and at home. We take pride in serving our residents and their families, and if you have any further questions, please let us know.
After my informative tour, I knew that I had found the perfect home for Mom. [Name removed] knew everyone by name and introduced us along the way. The building presented well and the staff were friendly and engaging. The residents were enjoying a Happy Hour with live music and it looked like so much fun that it made me want to move in. The menu has something for everyone and the appetizers served at Happy Hour looked yummy. There’s several beautiful outdoor areas for the residents and family members to enjoy. They also offer a fall prevention program that no one else I’ve toured even mentioned. Be sure to check out Doughterty Ferry… (they call themselves the Ferry, which I found amusing and endearing.) you won’t be disappointed.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
August 31, 2021Thank you for your high rating review of Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living & Memory Care. Watching our residents discover new hobbies, build friendships and just have a good time is one of our favorite things! We are so happy you and your mom discovered our culture here and found it perfect for her wishes in a new home.
The staff goes above and beyond to take care of the residence. From the top-down everyone is so friendly. I would like them to have an alert bracelet or necklace that the residence wears. They offer good value for the money. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
July 14, 2021Thank you, Tamara, for recommending Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our team.
Things have changed since COVID but Doughtery Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care has done a good job considering what they are up against. They had an incredible staff before COVID and it was absolutely amazing, they had a change of staff and it has been fine, but we do miss the staff members that were there before. One thing that really impressed me was that the staff members said hi to everybody by name and knew my name after one time visiting. One thing we have had issues with is their in service care called Legacy. For the most part, I would definitely recommend. I would still say it is one of the best places around.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
November 17, 2020Hello LB, thank you very much for the positive review of Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living & Memory Care. We appreciate your feedback regarding our COVID response. This is certainly a challenging and uncertain time, and we thank you for your patience as we have shifted business operations in accordance with CDC and federal, state, and local guidelines. Team member transitions are never easy, as we understand the residents develop relationships with team members over time. We hope we’ve made this as easy as possible on residents and families alike. We will certainly share your feedback with Legacy, which is a third-party therapy provider within our community. I know they will value this and explore further if necessary. Thank you again!
I virtually toured the community recently and found the whole experience to be informative and educational. [name removed] guided us through the community explaining in detail how my mother would flourish in their environment. All of the residents she encountered seemed happy and well cared for. We will be moving Mom in this month. We are confident that we have made the right choice for Mom and our family.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
October 22, 2020Thank you, Ann, for sharing your positive experience with us about Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care! We are happy to hear that enjoyed the virtual tour and that all your questions were answered. Our team really goes above and beyond for residents, and we are happy that your mom will be a new resident in our community soon! If there is anything we can further assist your family with, please reach out to our team.
The food is deplorable according to my mother in law and her friends. They have nice size rooms. The concierge is great. They don't always listen to the residents. They have an outdoor space for residents. The staff that I have met are very friendly. In the last 6-8 months, the food has gone downhill. Everything is overcooked. They often forget things like salad dressing, milk, salt, and pepper, and even when reminded they don't bring it out.

Response from Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care
April 27, 2021Thank you for your comment regarding the dining program at Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care. We are disappointed to hear of this experience. We do encourage our residents to provide real-time feedback so we can immediately correct any issue there may be with the food served. This is the only way we can understand when an error has occurred and also have the opportunity to make it right for a resident. Again, thank you for the feedback.
We love Dougherty Ferry for my mom. She has lived there almost 3 years now, and she is VERY happy there. They take great care of her, they have a lot of activities she can participate in, and she has made a lot of friends in her time there. Everyone is very attention, caring and takes the time to get to know not only the residents but the family, which is very important to the families. Thanks for all you do for Mom - she loves you all !!

My mom came to Dougherty Ferry when it first opened and has lived here for over 3 years. She loves it here and thinks the staff, management, caregivers and residents are wonderful! I know that she would not be thriving this well if she lived on her own. She really enjoys happy hour the most, she can socialize and dance to the music. There are always fun things to do. We are so happy we found this community for our mom!

We planned to move my mother-in-law into Dougherty Ferry AL and enroll her in the Residents' Club, a small group of residents in early stages of dementia who were shepherded during the day to meals and activities. Unfortunately, their nursing director's assessment recommended she move directly into memory care. After visiting several other local memory care facilities, we asked their memory care director to assess her. Her recommendation was that my MIL go into AL and Residents' Club. Frustrating -- they should have worked together, instead of assessing her weeks apart and coming up with different recommendations. Finally, we learned that DF had instituted levels of care (5 levels at $500 per level; residents are automatically considered level 1 and charged an extra $500 above monthly rental rates). To our disbelief, they rated my MIL (ambulatory, but slow, with moderate dementia and medications) at the highest level of care, increasing monthly rates by $2,500, and making them one of our more expensive options. We decided to go elsewhere. It is a very nice facility and we liked their memory care environment. They don't seem to skimp on their residents, whether it be facility upkeep, staff, or activities.

Once we knew our dad had to move from senior living to assisted living, we had no hesitation about moving him here. This is his second Spectrum Community. The facilities are in excellent condition (only 3 years old) and the staff is great to work with. There are a lot of activities for those who want to participate, even a weekly happy hour and usually one or two outings a week. My dad has moderate dementia so he needs to be reminded to do things, but when I ask the staff to help keep him active, they seem happy to help with this.
