I placed my mother here a few months ago. She is so happy!!! The staff is incredibly generous and friendly. They are reasonable with pricing, and have given my mother a new life. She suffers from dementia and it was overwhelming having her at home alone. But my fears are gone because of this incredible community. Thank you Tudor Heights.

I thought this would be a place my mom would feel comfortable in, but my mistake nearly cost her her life, and that's no exaggeration. From ongoing medication errors to lack of attention after a bad fall, my mom is still suffering the consequences of Tudor Frights. The director will always try to put a positive spin on things, but is not in touch with the day to day operations. She makes promises but never follows through. The nursing staff is overwhelmed by the amount of responsibility they shoulder, and do not receive support or guidance from their supervisor. I recommend looking elsewhere for assisted living for your loved one.

Tudor Heights is attractive, and at first glance, presents as a "homey" environment. Visuals are often deceiving, and in this case, they sure are. From the day my loved one arrived, I could tell this was not a good place. The director, friendly and attentive prior to admission, was nowhere to be found. Complaints fell on deaf ears. Her role as the former marketing director was apparent-always trying to put a positive spin on the problems at Tudor. Every complaint I raised, she minimized. Nursing care not up to basic standards, care plans not being followed-but we're doing better, she responded. NO, you most certainly are not. Medication errors-we will investigate and keep you informed of our findings-no further response, no follow up, no care or consideration. That apparently is the Peregrine Way. Complaints to the president of Peregrine resulted in the same-promises of follow up, with no action taken, and no response to further emails or calls. The delegating nurse spends her days in her office. How she manages to do her 45 day review of each resident from her office is beyond me. She takes the word of the nursing assistants, without verifying anything! They told me that they are "her eyes and ears." The CNAs run the facility. No supervision, no oversight, no accountability. Toileting schedules never adhered to, showers not given as required, yet certain CNAs sign off on care plans as being done. They know they will never be called on it, as the delegating nurse could care less. Clothing and other personal items disappear, although they claim that all laundry is done individually. Communication is exceptionally poor. Very unprofessional management. The delegating nurse does not want to hear any complaints. She is downright rude to family and other staff, in front of both residents and visiting families. Does not contact the physician as required, and clearly does not care about the residents. Nursing staff who do not do their jobs are never fired for poor care, only for using their cell phones while on the job. CNAs who have been written up numerous times remain employed, and continue to do as little as possible to assist residents. The director is in way over her head, and has no idea what she is doing. She will always tell you what she thinks you want to hear, and won't do a thing about legitimate issues. It is clearly just a paycheck to her. Tudor Heights needs to clean house, starting with the director and delegating nurse. Peregrine, the parent company, is based in Buffalo, NY. They are not willing to spend resources to clean up the mess from such a distance.

The director did a good job at putting me at ease, asked pertinent background questions and provided a nice friendly tour. Well appointed facility, nice communal rooms. Resident rooms were a bit small and halls were warm - AC being fixed. Residents appeared happy. Outside area was limited, but inside was nice.

This ALF is absolutely beautiful. They took very good care of my 87 year old father here. However, I moved him to another facility for two reasons: 1. They do not have a "doctor day" and you are responsible for getting your loved one to the doctor, which was difficult for me, 2. They take wonderful care of residents with dementia, but separate them into a locked ward, even if they are not wandering. My father was very lonely there. However, meals were excellent, ratio of aides to residents was stellar and religious atmosphere was truly welcoming. I guess Tudor Heights just works for some people and not for others.

Response from Aventura at the Heights
March 18, 2014We so appreciate the feedback and yes, we are a beautiful and caring community. .I am not sure what years the reviewer's father was here, but for the past years we have a free mini bus that takes all residents to their individual doctor's appointments 2 days a week. We also arrange private transportation if other times are needed or even specialized trips to dialysis , chemotherapy, etc. If needed, we can also provide an escort service. Tudor Heights has a Medical Director on staff, and residents have the option to choose to use our convenient on site doctor and nurse practioner. Our entire community is secure with a concierge 12 hours a day and then a secure system so family members can be buzzed in any other time. Our Legacy Court neighborhood, for memory care, does have one extra level of security for peace of mind and safety. However, this is also a lovely area with a daily. full schedule of fun and educational activities, personalized care as the reviewer noted. Legacy Court residents also join in so many community wide events here and enjoy all celebrations, shows, as well as participating in individual interests.
