These areas include Medical and social needs and characteristics of the resident population, identification of conduct constituting abuse and neglect, proper food preparation, and exploitation of a resident. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include communities must assist residents with self-administration if requested, placing an oral dosage in the resident’s hand, and assisting residents with self-administration. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessment to determine the resident’s medical needs, whether family supports are available, assessment to determine the residents cognitive and behavioral impairments, and assessment to determine the resident’s physical care needs. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assisted living care, described as personal services, administration of medications by a certified medication aide, and the provision of assisted self-preservation. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 25. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver programs- ) the Community Care Services Program is managed by the Department of Community Health’s Division of Medical Assistance Plans and partners with the Division of Aging Services and the Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE) program. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include at least three meals, one nutritious snack, and any therapeutic diets ordered by a resident’s health care provider must be provided each day.
