My mom has been in Sunrise Memory Care since June. It was extremely hard to place her during the time of Covid but I knew Sunrise was carefully trying to protect all residents. They have been good about communication. The staff is eager to help when I have a concern. They have recently started activities so I can’t comment about those. When i toured Sunrise I was impressed by the cleanliness and the staff. I would recommend Sunrise if you are looking for a special place for your loved one. My mom seems happy there.
What we like the most about this community is the overall responsiveness of the staff and based on the experience we have had, we would recommend Lumina Las Vegas to other families.
Our family has been very satisfied with the Vineyard Memory Care community . The staff members are very good and we feel that we made the right decision for our loved one. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

Use this section to brainstorm a combination of income sources that may help cover your loved one’s memory care costs. You’ll find detailed information on payment options that seniors and their families typically use for their ideal memory care community, like the following:
Many seniors and families consider their personal income first when planning for a move to a memory care community. Sources such as investment returns, saving accounts, Social Security benefits, pensions, and the options below are typical ways seniors and their families pay for their ideal memory care facility:
Equip yourself to find the safest memory care community for your loved one by getting familiar with Nevada’s laws and regulations for memory care facilities. Learning about these state regulations can help you ensure your loved one transitions into a safe and efficient facility. Here we highlight some regulations that are useful to know when searching for a well-maintained memory care facility.
Memory care facilities in Nevada are licensed by the Department of Health and Human Services Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health — Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance (also known as HCQC). They’re technically licensed as assisted living facilities or residential facilities for groups. When a facility is endorsed by the Bureau as a memory care facility, the on-site care services must support social needs, physical needs, sensory enrichment, and outdoor activities.
Nevada’s Division of Public and Behavioral Health ranks residential care facilities with an inspection-based grading system. Inspectors note concerns on staff and safety with the following grades:
Memory care facilities need to meet a resident’s evolving care needs. Facilities must lower the likelihood that the resident will require moving to another community, like by providing advanced nursing and medical services on-site.
These communities are also required to foster residents’ independence. Memory care facilities in Nevada can’t admit residents that are bedridden, need restraint, or require 24-hour skilled nursing care. However, current residents who grow to need 24-hour skilled nursing care will not be displaced or transferred if that time comes. For instance, residents who qualify for HCQC-approved hospice care can remain in their communities.
Residents must have at least 80 square feet in a private room. In a shared room, there must be at least 60 square feet of floor space for each resident. Shared rooms can’t have more than three residents. In addition, the building’s exits must have alarms or other auditory signals to alert caregivers of wandering and safety concerns. As a preventive measure, all outdoor spaces must be completely gated and locked.
All caregivers and administration must complete at least 8 hours of specialized memory care training, in addition to general caregiver training. Nevada senior care facilities with over 20 residents need at least one caregiver on-site who’s awake at all times. Caregivers on staff must be at least 18 years old and complete care-related training, such as CPR and first aid.
To monitor each facility’s compliance with these regulations, the Bureau conducts annual inspections and investigates complaints. These inspection reports are available to the public in Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Provider Search Form. To navigate this search form, select “Health Facilities” under the Business Unit search criteria, select “Residential Facility for Groups” under the Credential Type criteria, and then enter the name and the address of the facility you would like to look up.

The city of Henderson has some guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with several local pharmacies and vaccination sites available. Residents are encouraged to stay up-to-date with testing and vaccinations at these sites.
Review the latest local guidelines by visiting the City of Henderson’s website. We encourage you to reach out to any prospective facilities to see if they have their own COVID-19 guidelines in place. Generally, all Henderson memory care facilities are required to have guidelines on the following:
Masking. All assisted living facilities, including memory care facilities, should have masking guidelines. Contact the facility you’re interested in for more information.
Social distancing. Families and visitors should visit residents in outdoor settings if possible.
Quarantining. Residents should quarantine for 14 days if there are suspected symptoms or a positive COVID-19 test result.
Choose among a variety of Henderson memory care communities that can meet your loved one’s needs. Henderson has communities designed exclusively for memory care as well as larger assisted living communities with a continuum of senior care services. Regardless of your choice, each community prides itself on resort-style amenities, enriching activities, and high-quality, personalized senior care services.
Choosing between stand-alone memory care communities and larger assisted living communities that provide memory care depends on how your loved one would like to spend their day.
About 20% of the Henderson communities in A Place for Mom’s network are stand-alone, meaning that memory care is the sole type of senior care available. Some families prefer stand-alone memory care communities because of the facility’s dementia-friendly design. This means that the facility was built from the ground up to promote a safe, calming, and easy lifestyle for individuals suffering from a dementia diagnosis.
The other 80% of the Henderson memory care communities in A Place for Mom’s network are on the same campus as an assisted living and/or independent living community. These communities sometimes have more robust on-site amenities. They’re also good for connecting seniors to peers, so couples or friends with different care needs can live on the same campus together.
Regardless of the type of memory care facility you choose in our Henderson network, 100% of them offer on-site skilled nursing services. This means that choosing one of our partner memory care facilities reduces the likelihood of transfer or relocation to a nursing home in the event your loved one requires advanced care needs.
Our partner Henderson memory care facilities staff highly trained caregivers with extensive memory care training. This oversight, as well as the security of enclosed courtyards and various wander detection capabilities, helps your senior loved one safely make the most of each day. These caregivers are trained to ensure that each resident is able to maximize the enjoyment they get from every activity and amenity while maintaining safety and accessibility for all.
In general, the caregivers at your loved one’s prospective community should be able to calmly assist your loved one with all aspects of their lives. They’re trained in cognitive therapies, accessibility and facilitation, and the person-centered approach to care. Staff specifically trained in memory care should be on-site during all hours. Their presence helps keep your loved one supervised and cared for at all times. If you ever have questions about a prospective community’s caregiver certification requirements, don’t hesitate to ask them.
