Types of care available in Farmingdale, NY
Cleanliness was, I would say, above average. That was the thing they did the best. The only activities they had consistently were movies, bingo and once a month a one man band kind of thing. there were two people to a room, and they could bring a tv or dresser but the rest was hospital beds and felt very much like a hospital.
The meals are fine, just typical hospital type food. The doctors have called as they've seen her, but nobody else has really reached out in the week she's been there.
The staff at the East Northport Bristal is always kind. They always have a smile on their faces and are genuinely sweet and loving to my mom. The facility is ALWAYS spotless and beautiful to live in or visit. The only area I see occasional improvement for is the food. It is not always hot and more fresh veggies needed. The personal care and overall facility is excellent.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home facility offers residence to two or more persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of residence offers its inhabitants 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses offer care for people who cannot care for themselves due to mental or physical conditions, including age.
This type of facility is a convenient and comfortable living choice for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will usually accept individuals 55 and above (a rarity in the realm of senior care). Many occupants of nursing homes are elderswith behavioral problems. These can span verbal lash-outs, resisting help, or experiencing a desire to wander. A significant amount of residents tend to be bachelors or widows with smaller social support groups, and about half of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. A significant portion of nursing home occupants are individuals who have mental or physical disabilities, have incontinence issues, experience difficulty seeing and hearing, or require assistance with daily tasks such as walking. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to participate in activities, be free from abuse and neglect, exercise your rights as a U.S. citizen, and be free from restraints. Nursing homes are required to provide medically-related social services, room and bed maintenance services, a professionallly directed program of activities, and emergency dental services to residents.
