Attention: Joan Ari Staff 3rd floor Good day, We felt it proper to give kudos when deserved and want to point out the warm welcoming staff we have encountered on different days and different times we have visited my husbands Mom Marie. Every time we have come we have been impressed with the attention and respect the residents receive. Each time the facility has been clean, pleasant, decor pleasant and no odors. The staff on Norwich 3rd floor are professional helpful and safety minded. Please if any commendations can be given we would appreciate it because we appreciate everything you do in caring for our Mom. Thank you again, Sincerely, Timmy and Angel... Read more

I would NEVER send anyone there. Never. I watched a nurse abuse a woman that was crying in pain. She had an IV in her arm that was a mess. Blood everywhere and it was really painful. Instead of helping her, the nurse took a wrap and wrapped her arm so tight from her hand to her shoulder. The skin above the wrap was turning a color from lack of blood flow. The woman was crying in pain. It was awful to watch. I can only imagine what goes on when family and visitors aren't there.

Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing & Rehab practices should be investigated. Our loved one went for rehab after a long stay in the hospital. The care received during his 2 week stay was disgraceful--no updates on blood work to verify antibiotics were effectively working, no nursing care during adverse reaction to medication, no doctor visits except for admission and upon release (even after requesting to be seen), and the list goes on. The attitude on behalf of the staff (except for one day nurse and the PT therapist) was horrific. Thank goodness he is able to communicate and hold his own (especially since his stay was during Covid and we were unable to visit). The staff was not trained properly on how to administer medication via an IV pump. They were annoyed when he called the physician from hospital and they gave direction to staff--one nurse said, "if you want we can send you back to the hospital." Upon release, they did not test for COVID, which he picked up from the facility--he was back in the hospital within a few days and diagnosed with COVID-19. The subsequent HCPs that reviewed his release papers were surprised at the lack of information included, including non specific information on dosage strengths of medication. Results were not properly shared with his private HCPs--we had to follow up and get his records and personally fax to his private HCPs. The disregard for patient care is nothing like our family has ever seen. The lack of cleanliness and the lack of support is beyond comprehension. A few direct quotes from staff included "you're one of the few I've actually seen walk out of here," "this reaction has nothing to do with medicine" (even though it occurred every time immediately after medicine was given). The Director of Operations was spoken to on multiple occasions; he passed information onto his underlings who did nothing PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY.

Except for the stealing of his property, they were nice people. BUT several personal items and money were stolen from his room. They settled in the end for very little compensation, after my husband died.

I have never written a review either good or bad but I really feel the need to express something I find very concerning. My sister in law was admitted to cold spring rehab after being hospitalized and put on dialysis. She is 85 years old and as you can well imagine very scared. She is in Norwich section. The CNAs are abominable. One actually told her she is a real pain in the [language removed]. I ask you what is the reason these people go into patient care if they have no patience? I’ll tell you they come to this country uneducated and get an 1199 union position with great benefits. They don’t care about any of these patience. You reap what you sow. I only hope that someone cares for them or there love ones in the same manner. KARMA

STAY AWAY !! If you truly care about your loved ones, I strongly suggest you avoid this place at all costs. My sister was brought here on [date removed] for nursing, and she had her first seizure in years because they failed to administer her medication and now she is back in the hospital. The nurses are highly unskilled and lack any compassion whatsoever, and you can clearly see this in your first 10 minutes of being here. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if 90-95% of these "nurses" were not even nurses or properly credentialed. For example, on the first night I stayed at my sisters side until 1:30 am, and I had to verbally prompt the nurses to do their jobs and needed to remind them that my sister who is using a feeding tube is on a feeding schedule. I asked them to please follow that schedule, and they still came an hour late past the scheduled time. The facilities are also dilapidated, I don't know how they pass inspections by the health department. There are holes in the walls, molding peeling off, the beds are extremely old and dirty, the smell of the place is awful, and the carpet has not been vacuumed in a long time. Please take all negative reviews very seriously, I would give negative 5 stars if I could. -[name removed], Ph.D., MS Ed., BCBA

My dad was there for 6 months and although the nursing staff tries their best to attend to patients needs the overall support is insufficient for most patients needs. The administration is far worse and the doctor mostly ignores you. My dads foot had lost blood circulation and we noticed 2 weeks ago but after mentioning it to him he said it was normal for him. After we demanded to have him looked at the hospital the vascular doctor said that it had been going on for 2 weeks and there was nothing he could do for it the only option was to have the leg amputated or provide comfort for him. We did not want to put him through that and decided to make him as comfortable as possible. He passed away a few days ago.

A wonderful place, the staff members were friendly and courteous. The living space was more than adequate, spacious safe and clean. This location was our first choice after visiting three locations.

A Place for Mom has scored Cold Spring Hills 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
