This place is horrible. The administrator can care less about what you have to say. He acts like he cares but he really does not. The recreation director is the most heartless person you will ever meet. Most of the staff there is so unprofessional it is very sad that we chose this place to send my mother. You think that the good reviews and the look of the place is great but IT DEFINITELY IS NOT. If you feel that you can report negative behavior here, just know that you can't because the directors or other higher ups will turn you away. I definitely do not recommend sending your loved one here. Please do not do so if you care about your loved one. PLEASE DO NOT.

Its a freaking house of horrors. I myself was a patient there many years ago and the place was great. then when my mom needed rehab, I recommended it to her , and they were great. NOW THE PLACE SUCKS. Understaffed, non attentive to the residents. My 12 year old son has more medical background than the doctors and nurses in that [language removed]. They would leave my mom in a dirty diaper for HOURS, and if you kept asking them to please change it , they would either give you an excuse, an attitude or simply say they were short staffed or it was a tour change. TOTAL DISREGUARD FOR PATIENT CARE. I'm not sure who the administration staff is now , but they should be FIRED. The nurses aids were the best people there. The unfortunate thing is that they are limited to the services they can provide. The nurses aids were the ONLY people that gave a crap about my mom. Multiple times I would tell the nurses that my mom needed to be sent out to the hospital because something wasn't right with her ,( I am in the medical field and I knew that something was really wrong) and all they kept telling me was that if the doctor doesn't think she needs to go then my family would have to " Pay out of pocket". What kind of answer is that. This went on for months. As time went on she got worse and worse, until they moved her upstairs to the "nursing home" ( because moms medical coverage ran out and they weren't getting any more money from her insurance). She was up there for 2 days and the nurse immediately sent her to the hospital. But by this time it was too late and mom died a short time later . Now bear in mind that the only reason my mom was there was because she needed rehab to get stronger so she could walk again from being in the hospital for a few weeks. If they would have just done their job my mom may still be alive today. If you love your family member DO NOT SEND THEM THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simply put, DO NOT bring anyone to Huntington "Hell"s for rehab. SHORT REVIEW: No respect. Bare Bare Bare Minimum Care and Observation Impersonal Patient Staff - regularly - to patients and family. Expect some ATTITUDE. Apparently it's contagious. DON'T DARE approach Nurse [name removed]. You will be dealt with firmly. This was observed several times- to many other patients and other families as well. If the patient is able to manage their own care, they might be ok. If they are in need of assistance, a family member NEEDS to be there with the patient daily. On Ringing the call bell from the room - expect a 30-60 minute response. If a wheelchair bound patient doesn't mind sitting in the hall staring at the often empty nurses station for hours at a time, they should be ok. If you lodge a complaint, expect shock and promises, but nothing will change. LONG REVIEW: In addition to the above short review... They don't respect people, both patient and family. While you might come across a few nice people, (there are a few), there are enough major players that are downright NASTY, indifferent, incompetent, or frankly just don't care. A fundamental problem that exists at Huntington Hills Rehab is there is no communication between departments or levels. Everyone in management seems to think things are running smoothly. When you point out any shortcomings, their immediate response is one of surprise and semi-outrage, with promises to get to the bottom of it and fix it. This is downright disingenuous because this reaction is consistent and repetitive, yet NOTHING changes. My mother was admitted here straight from the hospital in December 2018. She signed all the admitting papers herself, but by the time she was discharged, her health declined to the point of having to have a proxy sign her papers. Due to neglect and being IGNORED day and night, she became confused and disoriented. On many occasions, we found her disconnected from her OXYGEN with the tubing still in her nostrils. Other times, we found the tank was simply EMPTY! (Thankfully, now back in her home, she's lucid and progressing wonderfully.) She was in a double room, and her first roommate was somewhat self sufficient. Thank goodness, because her roommate told us of many occasions that my mother needed help, but they just wouldn't come to the room. My mother was less self sufficient and needed help with ambulation and physical therapy. If she resisted PT, they simply stopped trying and left her on her own. Unfortunately this went on for weeks and her health suffered for it. Though she needed a walker, she didn't get one in her room for the first 20 days! This was all like a terrible nightmare. As mentioned, thankfully my mother is back home doing very well, no thanks to this horror place. WITHOUT QUESTION, this is the worst experience my family has EVER had with any hospital or rehab facility. At all costs, I suggest you search for a different facility, even if the location is less convenient. I held off for months before I decided to post this review, for two reasons. I wanted to make sure it was well thought out and digested, and I wanted to make sure she was out of there for a while in case there were attempts at retribution. I expect the cookie cutter "We're sorry for your experience" response to be written, basically trying to save face, but with no real plans to improve the place. Bottom Line. Don't risk your loved one's health and well being here, unless you can be with them EVERY DAY for most of the day until they get discharged. It's THAT BAD.

My aunt was at Huntington Hills in October 2018. We chose Huntington Hills because of the positive experience my mother-in-law had 6 years ago. This place has gone downhill. The nurses aides took 20.00 tips given by my aunt so they would be nice to her.. They would not change her for 12 hours, leave people tied to their chairs screaming in the halls. They refused to give my aunt the correct diagnosis to have the ambulance home covered by Medicare. She has severe Parkinson's and orthostatic hypotension and must ay down. Every other hospital and Glen Cove Rehab gave the correct diagnosis. The social work dept was not patient oriented.

They were great! Not only was the exercise and the Therapy great, but the staff was great too. They were so compassionate, and patient, and loving. They were very reassuring to my father during a difficult situation. They were wonderful!
