I have been here since [date removed]. Every day I feel loved by the staff. I have notes because I can't member names and that embarrasses me. The food is better than I can prepare myself. This is a great place to be.

The Gables at Winchester

I like living here, it’s close to Boston so we have interesting outings. The staff is friendly and competent. The apartments are spacious and clean. There are many windows in my apartment that have great views

Scandinavian Living Center in West Newton, MA

The whole place has a very friendly atmosphere. SLC offers a lot of programs that are open to people who live in the surrounding community, so the residents feel like they are still part of the community. The food is very good. I would recommend Scandinavian Living Center to others.

At this time I would rate everything a 4. Only because I don't give anything the highest score. But we are very happy with everything. Most of the staff knows mom by name, good meals and lots of activities.

Nice place, great people. The only downside to the place is the individual hvacs are old, and need replacement parts that apparently are very hard to get. So the heat is always on.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a community that houses at least two persons who have no personal ties to the administrator. This type of complex provides its occupants with around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers offer health related services for seniors who are unable to properly take care of their own needs.

This type of community is a familiar and easy living alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will admit individuals 55 and greater rarely heard of in senior care regarding care types. A large number of nursing home inhabitants are seniors who have incontinence issues, have mental or physical disabilities, require assistance with daily tasks such as getting dressed, or experience difficulty with hearing and sight. The most common mental condition effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their decision making capacities, and familiarity, and memory recall. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to make complaints, have your representative notified about your care, be free from discrimination, and get information on services and fees. Nursing homes are required to provide specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), emergency dental services, routine personal hygiene items, and room and bed maintenance services to residents. Many residents of nursing homes are individuals with interpersonal social issues, which can encompass verbal antagonism, resisting assistance, or a tendency to wander.
