This facility is unique. Mid 2015 it was purchased by a new owner, who is also the Director and she has improved the Home dramatically, with fresh paint, new carpet and hardwoods. It is a smaller facility that has a very residential feel. The rooms are big, the staff are friendly, caring and attentive to the residents needs...and the price is more affordable than the more corporate facilities. I was happy to have my Father living in and being cared for at this facility.
My experience with Medlock Gardens Senior Living has been wonderful. The entire staff has provided our loved one and our family with excellent service. From my initial visit and tour to the present, the staff has been warm and inviting. They consistently provide a welcoming atmosphere. In addition, the administrative team is very informative and helped to make our loved one's move in experience very comfortable. The activities provided to the residents are very creative and engaging and our loved one enjoys taking part in these. If you are considering a senior living facility, I highly recommend Medlock Gardens Senior Living in Decatur, GA.
It is a beautiful facility, you can tell a lot of money has been put into it. It is fairly new and in good shape. The care givers are very friendly, but we do wish there was a few more activities. However we do understand they still have covid restrictions.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home is a complex that houses at least two individuals who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of community offers its inhabitants 24-hour care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers offer specialized care for people who are unable to adequately take care of their needs because of their aging.
This type of community is a convenient and comfy living option for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will frequently allow persons 55 and older rarely heard of in senior care regarding alternate care types. A significant number of nursing home inhabitants are seniors who experience difficulty seeing and hearing, have incontinence issues, have mental or physical disabilities, or require assistance with daily tasks such as bathing. Nursing homes are required to provide routine personal hygiene items, dietary services, nursing and related services, and specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability) to residents. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment, a private room, unless medically needed, and personal reading materials. A significant amount of residents are bachelors or widows with less social support, and about fifty percent of nursing home residents are over the age of 85. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to be free from restraints, have your representative notified about your care, to manage your money, and be free from abuse and neglect.
