Transition from hospital with staff and hospice at Sunrise was not what was expected. Lack of staff for weekend and holiday. When emergency button pushed sometimes no response or over 30 minute response. Medications not administered as needed. Needs of patient could not be met in a timely manner. 24 hour care essential to make sure patient needs were attended to.
This facility is unique. Mid 2015 it was purchased by a new owner, who is also the Director and she has improved the Home dramatically, with fresh paint, new carpet and hardwoods. It is a smaller facility that has a very residential feel. The rooms are big, the staff are friendly, caring and attentive to the residents needs...and the price is more affordable than the more corporate facilities. I was happy to have my Father living in and being cared for at this facility.
My experience with Medlock Gardens Senior Living has been wonderful. The entire staff has provided our loved one and our family with excellent service. From my initial visit and tour to the present, the staff has been warm and inviting. They consistently provide a welcoming atmosphere. In addition, the administrative team is very informative and helped to make our loved one's move in experience very comfortable. The activities provided to the residents are very creative and engaging and our loved one enjoys taking part in these. If you are considering a senior living facility, I highly recommend Medlock Gardens Senior Living in Decatur, GA.

A nursing home is a community that houses at least two individuals who have no family ties to the administrator. This type of complex provides its residents with 24-hour care by registered nurses. Examples of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include senior centers, monitoring of medication, care coordination and case management, and 24-hour emergency care.
