Best place my mom has been. 100% better than another place she experienced. So far after 6 weeks at Nazareth Center, I have not found anything to complain about. They have lived up to everything they have said they would do. The staff feels like family. Would definitely recommend!

What is independent living?

Independent living offers a stress-free lifestyle for older adults. Independent living communities don’t provide personal care or supervision, but do offer generally healthy adults opportunities for socialization and hassle-free living. Independent living services often include:

  • Nutritious meals and snacks
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Home maintenance and repairs
  • Social activities and outings
Complete guide to independent living

Parchment, Michigan

Independent Living

For many seniors, the financial burden of home ownership might be a deterrent to enjoying an otherwise independent life. Independent Living Communities provide a convenient alternative. Seniors may use their free time as they desire while their food is prepared by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are handled by staff, and recreational activities are scheduled and organized. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of private living spaces, each with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies differ between locations, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers as desired. There are an assortment of advantages and expenditures to consider when choosing an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in the care plan: housekeeping, utilities, wellness program, move-in fee, private phone, transportation, parking, and cable TV. The benefits and amenities associated with independent living include fitness center & swimming pool, private rental hall, community activities, laundry service, healthcare center, golf course, concierge services, and security guards.
