My dad had a wonderful stay. I never thought I would be able to take him home again, but he's home now because of the great care the staff takes of their residents. I would recommend this place!

Thomas F Taylor Towers in Westland, MI
5.0

This is the cleanest and prettiest section 8 building I have ever seen. My mother moved from another senior tower in the area to Taylor Towers and we were amazed at the difference in amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have strict rules and guidelines for resident behavior which was wonderful to see compared to my mother's former building. We waited two years to get my mother off the wait list and into an apartment. It was well worth the wait. She is so happy!

Balfour Ann Arbor
4.9

It is exceptional! Not a "value" place but exceptional care for the price! I like that my mom is content, more self sufficient in many ways, mentally more than anything. She feels respected and knows her preferences for the way things are done are listened to even if they can't always be accommodated 100%. Balfour is consistent in saying "This is your home. It is our job to learn who you are and how you like things done." Great philosophy and often works that way. They were willing to adapt the room to her needs. They hung the draperies from her home in her room! Adaptations to the bathroom were accepted. Food is exceptional, with a kitchen/chef/ and food staff in each living area...independent, assisted and memory care. She has a menu with a choice of really decent food for each meal. In other places, she supposedly had a choice, but there was never really a choice, food was prepared across the building and wheeled through the hallways on carts, etc.. Balfour's food service is designed like a restaurant. My mom does not participate in activities, nor does she take advantage of things like they're wonderful gym facilities… But they are there for those who are interested. They also have in-house PT which is also a plus!

Independent Living

For many seniors, the financial burden of home ownership and the upkeep of the property might deter them from enjoying an otherwise independent life. Independent Living Communities offer a convenient remedy to this situation. Basic needs such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is provided, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they prefer. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of benefits and costs to keep in mind while selecting an independent living community.
