Independent Living
We initially feared Mom would not like being in assisted living, but she absolutely loves it at the Oaks Manor. When we do get her out for the day she is always ready to get back. She always mentions how safe she feels being there. The employees go way above and beyond what is expected and genuinely care about the welfare of their residents. Mom can select what she wants to eat, and she is always taking part in some kind of activity or another. I don't think she realized how alone she was staying at home by herself, even with the family calling and stopping by daily. She is as happy and energetic as we have seen her in years. Cannot say enough good things about the Oaks Manor and the great people working there.
I have lived here for about a year and a half. I have enjoyed it immensely. Very friendly people live and work here. I recommend it for people 65 years old and older. We get three meals a day plus snacks. We get activities that are great. We have exercise programs for 45 minutes at least 2 times a week. There is also bingo and occasionally we will get entertainment from the community. That is great and very enjoyable. We have sing a longs and bell choir. During the holidays, the staff is wonderful in surprising us with different kinds of activities that we don't do on a regular basis. We also have someone come in to do chair yoga with us. To me, it is a great place to live. The staff is very helpful.
It's a very friendly place. They are very respectful to the residents. And they show true concern and care for them The facility is good. They clean the apartments every week. My loved one likes the food for the most part, although he's not picky. Sometimes it can be tough / hard to eat, which I think they need to consider for the elderly. But I would highly recommend Brookstone.

They are wonderful! The size is great. It's a small facility so the patient care is better and more direct. And they have a true home cooked meal 2x a day.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I can't say that he's happy but he is adjusting in a healthy way. Based on the experience we have had, we would recommend this community to other families.

For many seniors, the cost burden of home ownership might deter them from enjoying an otherwise independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities provide a great remedy. Food preparation, leisure activities and housekeeping chores are taken care of for you while you are able to use your time as you choose. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with independent care providers as desired. There are a number of benefits and expenses to keep in mind while selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in your care plan: wellness program, parking, meals, initial assessment fee, internet access, Waiting list deposit, utilities, and field trips. The conveniences associated with independent living include healthcare center, laundry service, private rental hall, beauty salon & barber shop, community activities, security guards, game/TV room, and golf course.
