Outstanding features include no buy-in, initial fee discounts for Veterans, ability to move out with a month's notice, garage parking and storage lockers, referral benefit to current and incoming resident. Wish the food quality could be better - but Wellington is aware and doing what they can. Sometimes dining room staffing is an issue. But my feeling is that every place has the same issues with the dining experience. Also, the on-site medical care is a huge plus - it has been extremely important and helpful for my father in law. Also, they offer an onsite hair salon.... Read more

This community was okay but too big for my loved one and felt like she would get lost in the community. The tour was excellent just to big for my mother.

This is a really good community. I have been happy so far if there is something that my loved one needs they are on it right away. With some things I feel like they could take some extra steps to be a little more proactive for my loved one. The staff are very sweet and attentive and they are there for us and my loved one.

Response from Wellington at Hershey's Mill
March 7, 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. Our residents are our top priority, and we are so pleased you've had a great experience. Thanks again!
we toured this community and it was a very nice facility. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and made sure we were comfortable. They answered all our questions and were very informitive. The community is on the bigger side and my loved one needed something smaller.
I chose Wellington at Hershey's Mill because it had the space I needed for the money involved and it is in the same location where I used to live. I also talked to a lot of people and they were happy and I thought I would give it a shot and it turned out fine. They were having an end of year deal and I was able to get a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment for a good price. The food here is really good, they are chef prepared meals. They have a form to fill out and I fill it out what I would like to eat and put the form in a basket. They have a ton of variety and every meal I have had has been just wonderful, you can either get it take out or eat in the dining room. The dining room has a dress code and you cannot wear any denim. They are going through some administrative changes at the moment and when I first moved it I kind of had to figure everything out myself because they do not provide instructions so I think that would be helpful to have.

My 98 year old mother was at Wellington for close to 6 years. Ever since Senior Lifestyle took took over from Benchmark Senior Living Wellington went from a 5 star facility to a 1 star facility. Food got worst, work conditions got worst (just read the staff reviews on Indeed), they got rid of good, caring people. My mother died in there in early [date removed]. Within 3 days between my mom's death and family cleaning out the apartment, a theft occurred of close to 50 valuable Swarovski crystal. I noticed a very suspicious series of events when the theft occurred. We notified senior management immediately. After speaking with the new senior management, my brother and myself left with the feeling they never really cared. They blamed it on a family member taking the crystal or another resident going into mom's empty apartment and stealing the crystal. I doubt if they even questioned their staff. The family has the feeling that the heirloom crystals will never be returned. Shame on the person who stole crystals from me deceased mother.

The overall rating was based on the prior management team. The staff were very friendly at Wellington. There were lots of activities for the residents to choose from prior to COVID. My loved one enjoyed bingo each week. The meals were delivered in a box. The food was excellent and I was able to eat with my loved one prior to the pandemic. New management decided to charge a $150 surcharge for a lock down or COVID charge. The community was beautiful. They even decorated for all the holidays prior to COVID.

We returned for our 2nd visit with dad. He thought it was way too fancy & the smallest apt was way too big. Dad wants a studio apt like my mom had. Staff is very lovely & our lunch was delicious; especially the homemade soup! However, dad is not comfortable here. [Name removed] was relaxed & very much at home. The place has just been remodeled & planning for a lovely party! Excitement was generated by the staff & residents. The apts were large & spacious, but no studio apts offered. Wonderful gym & indoor pool; lots of walking space both inside & out. We met many staff members, all of whom seemed invested & happy; lots of good humor. The residents were involved & active. However, this place is more expensive. This would be our 2nd choice.
