This facility is the best place around. My mother-in-law is very happy there! They have so many activities from cake decorating to bingo. She was hesitant to participate at first. But now, sometimes when we go visit we can't even find her because she's out doing her activities. She truly loves and enjoys them. The meals are ok, she says they're a hit or miss. But we're able to go get her and take her out to eat often, so it works out. She also has a little personal kitchen area where she can make things for herself if she wants to. They do offer housekeeping and laundry, but she's pretty independent and likes to mostly do those things on her own. Periodically, we do request that they do a deep clean for her, which they willingly do and they do a great job. The staff is great and very helpful. I would definitely recommend The Stayton!... My mother in law is no longer there. We made the choice to move her when the level of care was unacceptable. They "lost" her twice (she as hiding in her shower in her bathroom both times) and we had to locate her. When she became slightly incontinent and we paid extra to have them make sure she was changing her depends, they didn't. She started layering clean clothes and depends on top of dirty ones and developed "diaper rash." She is now at The [facility name removed] when she receives exceptional care at a fraction of the cost.

My loved one was previously a resident at The Stayton. Unfortunately, I think the skilled nursing floor was very short handed when my loved one was there. Her room was right by the nurses station. Because of her injury, she needed assistance to the bathroom. She is very independent and did not call unless it was an emergency. We ended up hiring someone from 6pm-8am because the staff would never answer in the middle of night. The room was kept clean and the staff was friendly, just maybe over worked. When she moved to Assisted Living she had a large amount of money taken that was hidden in a drawer. I am hopeful they were able to hire some more honest, qualified nurses to help with the patients. I heard that they were under new management, so hopefully there will be some improvement.

Response from The Stayton
June 12, 2024Thank you for your feedback about your experience. I'm sorry that we fell short of giving you and your loved one a 5-star experience. We strive for excellence at The Stayton and your feedback helps us identify opportunities to improve. If you would like to discuss your experience more, please email your contact information to klockaby@buckner.org and a member of our leadership team will reach out to you directly. Thank you, again!
It's a hard time to find a place that's perfect because of the lack of employees. There just weren't enough staff to provide the care that my loved one needed, especially in regards to getting to the bathroom. They're very receptive when you talk to them with concerns and say they'll get things done, but then it just never gets resolved. They never even got her her own mailbox the whole time she was there. The facility itself was clean. I always saw people cleaning, and they kept my loved one's room clean for the most part.

The only good thing I can say about The Stayton is the facility is nice. My Dad was there on the assisted living floor and then in the skilled nursing floor. He did not get the care he needed. The Stayton made promises to us they did not keep. We had to ask numerous times for them to bill my Dad's insurance and long term care. It took them months before they actually sent the statements in so we could get reimbursed. I, and my two sisters, visited Dad every day. If we had not been there he would not have had timely bathroom trips, water, or other essential care. Most of the time when we went into his room his call button was on the floor where he could not reach it. Rehab would use excuses not to take him to rehab. They kept saying he doesn't want to go and we won't make him. Convenient excuse because the facility he went to after he left the Stayton had no trouble taking him to rehab.

I dont know about assiisted living but the memory care and nursing home are not up to grade for what this place charges , If you do decide to put your loved one there ,be aware and watch what goes on . It looks great but that doesn't mean it is.

I am very happy with the community. They keep the community very clean. The staff are nice and assist with her needs. She is happy with the meals and variety. They are offering her activities that she is enjoying. I would recommend this community for the good care, but the it is a little costly. I am very happy that this is a closer to location so that I can visit more often.

The facility is good. It's just that there is a lot of bureaucracy, and the communication isn't as good as it should be. They need to communicate better with family members. It seems to be reactive as opposed to proactive. It's clean the staff is friendly, the food is good. We haven't really been there long enough to judge the value.

We're very pleased with how things have gone at The Stayton at Museum Way! The staff here are very friendly and attentive, and very personally interested in the residents and their well-being! They seem to learn everyone's name almost from day one! The facility itself is well kept, and clean clean clean! It's just a nice place overall, and we are glad we found it!

Lobby reminds me of a nice Hilton. Halls remind me an office building. Only saw and met 2 staff members. Both nice. VERY HARD to find and get into. Rooms really small to be so new.

This place is phenomenal. After touring, I felt so comfortable knowing my family member was going to stay here and be well taken care of. The staff is beyond helpful, the building itself is amazing, and the quality of care is superb.

I took a tour of this community with a family member and I was blown away by the amenities The Stayton has to offer. You could not ask for a better location than being in the heart of Downtown. The views are incredible. Everyone on their staff was courteous and attentive and helped us with anything we asked for. The residents were extremely welcoming. I noticed various signs of different activities The Stayton offered so one would not ever be bored while living there. Overall, The Stayton completely surpassed my expectations and I would highly recommend it.

This community is like a cruise ship on land! They have every amenity I could think of. The views, location, and staff are all top notch. Lot's of smiling faces when I took a tour. This place really seems to get what a "community" is all about. I was even able to meet Oliver North and Henry Winkler as part of their Red Carpet Speaker Series. 5 stars all around! Hope to be making a move soon.

The services rely on the resident to initiate them. If you have a resident who doesn't want to be a burden or a problem, that might not be the best for the resident. I think they need to do a little more to initiate the services. I think we chose them for their ability to accommodate us, initially.

After visiting several communities over the last couple of weeks I was beginning to get bored with the pitches and feel they are all the same. What a pleasant surprise to visit The Stayton. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt like I just entered a five-star hotel. Every employee greeted us with a genuine and warm smile. Our counselor was punctual, friendly and sincere. I truly felt she had my best interest at heart. The rooms are beautiful. The amenities and activities are all I could hope for. I had an opportunity to meet a couple of the residences during my visit. Their warmth and graciousness made me feel like I had known them all my life. This has been by far our most impressive community yet. Hopefully I to will soon become a resident of The Stayton.

Unless you are blinded by the glitz, this is a good place to loose all your hard-earned cash & have nothing to show for it. There are much better places in the vicinity.

We toured this location when we were looking into care options for our loved one. Out of all the place we saw I think this one may have been the nicest. It was beautiful, and everyone was very friendly. However, it is located in a busy area of town that I don't think some of my relatives would have been comfortable getting to and from.

A Place for Mom has scored The Stayton 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
