My mom has always disliked hospitals and has been afraid all her life of being put in a home. after a unexpected fall at home medicare covers up to 20 days for rehabilitation. I chose sunny vista at random off a list, and it was the best choice I ever made. It is like a high end resort not a hospital, rooms are large, comfortable and clean, Halls are wide and well lit, the grounds are lovely, food is good even for picky eaters like my mom, and the staff is amazing they helped me with paperwork and walked me through everything step by step, they got my mom back on her feet in 2 weeks, my mom actually wanted to stay longer.... My mother was in memory care for about a month and a half after being in the hospital and rehab. The very first thing I told the nurse [name removed] when I got there is I wanted my mom up in her wheelchair for meals and not in bed all day. She had just spent 6 weeks bedbound. She arrived midday and the next evening when I went to see her around dinnertime, my mom was in bed, wet, in her pajamas and had been all day. This was how it was 90% of the time. Response times when the call button is pushed is incredibly long. That's if they show up at all. I always had to hunt people down. It's not because they were super busy. Much of the time they were standing around chatting. Many times the handheld was missing or not working. My mom's room air conditioner was always turned off, and her oxygen was off and out of reach countless times. They give a great speech about how they care but staff never stay long enough to make changes. If you love your family member, I beg you to stay away!

Don’t ever subject an elderly person to this facility. They cannot keep a nurse or executive director and the care is abhorrent. I can’t express strongly enough to not let the pretty building/physical plant fool you.

Based on my previous experience, I would recommend The Retreat at Sunny Vista. It's a very nice friendly place and esthetically pleasant. We especially liked that we had access to mom anytime of the day with just a check-in at the front desk. The daily activities were always fun.

Overall, it's a really nice place and the staff is very welcoming and friendly and it feels like home but the communication with the families could improve and it could be a little cleaner. The main bathroom has been dirty every time I've used it, and the room that my mom moved into had stained carpeting and a dodgy paint job. We picked this place because of the friendliness of the staff, the price, the availability, the age, place options, and the location.

Compared to our loved ones previous community, The Retreat at Sunny Vista is a night and day experience. Even though it is not a locked facility, it is locked down at night time and during the day IF someone were to get out they have an alarm system that goes off when doors are opened. We love this place and we just cannot say enough good things about the workers there. The place is beautiful, her apartment is just perfect. The staff are great about keeping an open line of communication. It has truly just been a blessing.
The staff here has been so helpful understanding and accommodating. We feel like mom is being seen and taken care of. They are very welcoming and easy to talk to. They pay attention to each individual and feed them good food too. They make everyone feel like a part of the group.

The Retreat is a great place. They provide great care, and it's a great place to live. But you have to stay on top of what's going on. Stay in close contact with the nursing care. They are good about responding when I have questions or concerns. We had a little trouble with one of the nurses, but he's no longer there, and they seem to be resolving any issues. Overall it's a beautiful place, and my family member likes it there.

They have a new administrator and she is really focused on improving everything and working on teamwork within the staff. We are very impressed with that. The facility has a nice and happy atmosphere. It has been a great experience and I would highly recommend The Retreat at Sunny Vista to others looking.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The cleanliness, location, price, and the staff makes this a good community for loved ones. There is a breakdown in communication with the administration and the family, as the administration are trying to sell us on the things going right. There are three meals a day served and the residents have choices. The food is excellent.

Everything is wonderful here! It has been right from the start. The staff is great and they do an awesome job. They've been great from the beginning. They're very involved and aware of things going on. Housekeeping is often and laundry is weekly and they do a great job. They have a good variety of activities. My loved one's always seem fully content and seem to stay busy. The food is good quality and variety. They're not early risers and tend to miss breakfast in the dining room often. But they are able to have breakfast delivered to them with no problems. I would absolutely recommend this facility to friends and family.

What we think they could work to improve on is there overall communication, sometimes our loved one finds it difficult to contact the staff and not get a timely response. We do think they do a great job providing activities for the residents and have a good variety, however because of the lack of communication some things get left out. We feel once communication improves things will be better.

It was a good tour experence. They were very helpful and friendly. The sales person was very proffessional. Overall, it wa a nice place.
Was a pretty simple but nice tour seemed to be a good fit for our loved one.
The Retreat at Sunny Vista is wonderful. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They were understanding that we had not done anything like this before, and they were fabulous in helping me with things I needed to look for and handle. They did a 30-day adjustment time for my folks where they gave extra time to them and our family to make sure we all were feeling good about it. They've been fabulous - it's like an extended family there. The facility itself is wonderful My mom comments constantly how much they decorate for each holiday. And they involve the residents in it by having them help make decorations or arrange flowers that someone donates every week. And then they set them throughout the facility. They have lots of things like that that make it a goad experience. When they first moved in under Covid restrictions, they couldn't eat in the dining room. But now the dining room is back open, and it has been great. The food is amazing. My mom mom thinks it's wonderful. And they're just being well taken care of.

The community is one of the best in the price range in the area. Overall the appearance and quality of the environment was top notch out of the communities I looked at. The meals are not as high quality as they could be for the money we are paying. There could be more diversity of fruits and veggies available for the residents. The Retreat does a better job at providing an all inclusive feel to their pricing.

This community was very nice. It was just way out of the price point that we were looking for. It also seemed like a brand new hotel.
My husband has been at The Retreat/Sunny Vista memory care unit for one month. His admissions & transition into the unit has been smooth & flawless. The staff members are very caring, attentive, & compassionate to him. I continue to be very pleased with communication from numerous departments. I have personally been an R.N. with 45 years of service in hospital areas. Therefore the care my husband is receiving has provided me with wonderful place of mind & comfort.

It is really hard to judge a community given the current circumstances, and I do think The Retreat is doing exactly what everyone is else is doing and trying to navigate through the pandemic. It hasn't been perfect, in the beginning of our loved ones move in the communication was really lacking, and at times we were left very confused. However, that has really improved and they are going above and beyond putting the residents safety first, being cautious and taking care of them. That we really appreciate, and commend them for.
It's very nice inside. The food was good. The quality seems better than at other places. The people are nice and friendly with both my loved one one and myself. They definitely could use more caregivers. Sometimes it takes over half an hour when you page for someone, and that's too long.

A Place for Mom has scored The Retreat at Sunny Vista 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
