It needs to improve before I would recommend it. If the food were better, and it was better staffed, it would be a better value. But the wait time for meals and the low quality has caused my loved ones to eat out/cook a lot more than expected.

Response from The Grand at Twin Lakes
March 22, 2024Thank you for taking the time to review our community. We appreciate your feedback so we can continually improve our community and services. We do have upcoming changes to our dining menu and atmosphere. Hopefully, you will enjoy and appreciate the enhanced and quality changes!
What our family likes the most about the Grand at Twin Lakes community is just how clean it is as well as all the different activities they have going on for the residents to participate in. However, the meals that are prepared and the staffing could use improvements.

We took a tour of The Grand at Twin Lakes during our search for an Independent Living facility for our loved one. This facility was okay. Everyone seemed friendly during our visit. The facility was a little less cozy and comfortable than some of the others that we toured. Nice facility, but too big for my loved one.
They have transformed into a vibrant place that empower residents to live their best lives. The amenities are clean, delicious food, and wellness resources as well as the ability to build plenty of new social connections. outdoor space is also nice,

My mother just moved in and is loving living at The Grand! Her apartment is beautiful and clean and she loves the food! They have lots of activities going on and the staff is so friendly. We made the best decision for us and you won't be disappointed. Lots of good things here!

This facility is very nice. It's an open concept floorplan and very wheelchair friendly/accessible. The place is always spotless and the staff is very nice. They take the time to get to know the residents and family members, they know everyone by name. They offer a wide variety of activities and always have something going on. The staff tries to keep everyone engaged. Housekeeping is once a week and my loved one's place is always clean. My only concern is the Executive Director whom doesn't seem to be very forthcoming with things that are going on. We've noticed a change in Meals/Dining recently (mainly no meal choices). I emailed the Executive Director about it and was assured that everything was fine. I then found out from another staff member that the entire Meals/Dining staff quit. Other than the Executive Director, all of the other staff has been great. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

The location of The Grand at Twin Lakes was huge a factor in my choice. The place is very clean - just some old gripers that can be hard to live with. There are some food problems and low staff situations, but that is not the managements fault. The staff are very friendly.

I Considered this a quality facility when I moved in, now years later it has lost its “Grandness”. Yes covid did not help, but cleanliness of the building, has suffered, the landscaping was considered enviable but the courtyard is in need of major help. What was initially fine dining is now basic diner type food, nothing special. And they cannot keep a chef. Overall decor could use a facelift, after 4+ years it’s needs an update. You might ask why am I still here? The residents have become friends. And the economy as it is now keeps me from moving now.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice community but since its a hotel it was just to big and there were so many hallways and floors to navigate through, we just did not think it would be the best fit for our loved one.
The Grand at Twin Lakes has been my home for three years. Entering the lobby for the first time, I knew I was home. Everything was so clean, the library an unexpected delight. We felt very safe here during the COIVD virus and we followed all the necessary precautions. My focus today is on the activities and its chairman Vicky, she works tirelessly keeping us active with games, hobbies, and making new friends. What a delight she is!!! making The Grand a happy home.

We had an excellent tour from The Grand at Twin Lakes, it is an adequate facility. My mother in law was looking for something smaller and more homey and she felt this facility was too large for her.
The Grand is a lovely place - and plenty to do. Staff is really nice and very helpful. The cost is very affordable

The residents are very nice. But the staff are a bunch of liars. They promise you the moon to get you to move in, but as soon as you move in, everything is taken away. The Activities Director quit months ago, and activities have gone downhill to the point that there aren't any at all. My apartment is a dump. I'm very disappointed. I would suggest finding a different community.

Every time we call our loved one she is constantly talking about how much she enjoys the meals and dining service there, everything really has been amazing. She is absolutely happy at The Grand community.

The Grand is a great independent living community with many amenities. The apartments are beautiful and spacious. Three meals a day are included in rent, and each day there are various activities and events to choose from. The community includes an indoor pool, movie theater, pool table/game room, and full service bar to name a few of the amenities. The proximity to Twin Lakes in Palatine makes for lovely walks just outside the back door, or you can stick around in the courtyard with beautiful gardens and seating areas. I would highly recommend looking at The Grand if you're considering downsizing or looking for a close knit community. The staff go out of their way each and every day to ensure residents are safe and happy, which is especially appreciated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We chose this facility because I was moving my mom from out of state and aesthetics were important to her, this was a brand new facility. They also had a ton of activities to offer for the residents. The rooms sizes here are very good. It is nice because they have 2 different dining rooms, it is restaurant style so they have a menu o choose from for each meal. The care was provided bu a different company while we were here a year ago, and that is where we had an issue. I think it would be better if they offered their own caregivers. I would recommend.
