Everything we have experienced has been wonderful. This community was chosen primarily because it is a Catholic community. But, I must add, there are people who aren't Catholic that live there.

The staff members are very helpful and kind to the residents/family here. It is hard to find compassion in healthcare. The staff acts professionally and tries to keep the residents entertained throughout the day.

Addolorata Villa is a wonderful place for seniors to call home. It is a faith filled community that welcomes all to be part of the community. Loving well manicured lawns and gardens make for a tranquil setting. The staff is experienced and friendly.

I brought my Mom to Addolorata Villa in Wheeling after a near death experience while living in her home. She was discharged from the hospital to Addolorata Villa for rehabilitation. She was well cared for and nursed back to health. I am very grateful to the staff at Addolorata Villa.

I have had acquaintances, friends, and relatives live at “The Villa” over the years. It is a close knit community and the consistency of staff and the quality of care are big differentiators in a crowded market. Big thumbs up!

We needed to find a facility for a rehab stay for my Aunt after an extended hospital stay. She, like many others, is independent and still in her own home, although with the help of come and go aides. A neighbor of mine mentioned Addolorata Villa and we are so glad she told us about it! Everyone at The Villa made my Aunt and our entire family welcome! It was so good to see my Aunt go from an “unhappy to be there resident” to someone who started going to and enjoying the activities. She received great care and was ready to manage at home when discharged. She has had a total of 3 rehab stays at The Villa and we are comforted knowing we will always have a place for her to live once she cannot be at home anymore. I almost forgot to mention they have a church right in the center, which was a huge plus!

Every time I visit I’m greeted by the kindest most caring staff! This makes a world of a difference when visiting my mom can be stressful at times so seeing all their smiling faces helps! I would recommend Addolorata Villa to anyone looking for their friends or family members!

My mother lived at the Villa for several months, first in rehabilitation and then had her own apartment. She was not easy to please but the team there did their best to keep her safe, happy and healthy. They became our second family and we will always be grateful.

The most negative was Addolorata Villa partners with Optum/ UnitedHealth Care Advantage plan. This program was presented to me without divulging the necessary information. Thus program takes away the persons Traditional Medicare program and eliminates your secondary insurance. I was not told this and it caused a major complications for my moms stay financially. This program is fine when your still well. But when your in dire need of a specialist or for nursing home coverage they have a high rate of declining financial support for the patient. I was never able to convey my situation to any one of authority at Addolorata and that bothered me immensely. It's a scam and everyone involved makes money at the patients disadvantage. When my mom went on Hospice w Suncrest it was a Tuesday. She slowly declined each day. The head nurse in assisted living was excellent. But again the weekend staff not so much. My mom was in terminal agitation. It is a term all nurses should recognize and act accordingly. My mom moaned for hours. The nurse on staff looked at me w no solutions or suggestions. What he should of done is one recognize the behavior even though he's a certified nurse not a Hospice nurse and two immediately call the Hospice service. They always have an on call nurse able to come by. At the very least give guidance to help the dying patient. They did nothing. Thankfully I was there and I called Hospice. They were there in an hour. Recognized the terminal restlessness and immediately helped my mom. This to me was a major flaw in communication of the weekend nurse and lack of knowing the importance of knowing who to call to help the in desperate need patient. My suggestion is to better train weekend nurses in patient care under Hospice. And it should be made very very clear to call Hospice nurses for guidance not do nothing. My advice to anyone admitting their lived one at any nursing home. You must be the advocate for them constantly. Many things go wrong. Mistakes are made. And the difference between the day staff and the night and weekend staff is far from the same. My mom had many items stolen from her room and was rudely handled by evening staff. I had to get her a lock box to hide tic tacs pens air freshener etc.

Addolorata is perfect for my aunt! The staff is wonderful and the residents are happy. Very positive experience. We were looking for a Medicaid facility that would accept her level of assets, in the event she had to go into assisted living. We were so happy to find a compassionate, clean, nice facility. The fact that it is Catholic sealed the deal.

It's been a beautiful transition, from my loved ones condo living. Mostly everyone who lives there, and everyone who works there is friendly and helpful! I have already recommended a couple people to visit for their aging parents. Most importantly, they "check" on my mom twice a day using a medallion (cross) system hung on apt. doors. Also, she loves their dinner food! She's not so happy about continental breakfast. They offer shopping trips, casino outings, bingo, trivia nights, wii games, etc. They offer doctors and hair appointments within the building! Mom is in independent living, but it's nice knowing that when she needs more care like assisted living, it's only a hallway or two away. The place is pricier than others, but it's worth every penny!

This is a nice set up and community. It was too far from family.
We toured Addolorata and thought it was nice. I did feel that the interior needed some updating. I would recommend others to tour this community.
I liked this Villa, beautiful,

We chose Addolorata Villa because it just felt right. It was very clean and organized and seemed like a place that he would be happy at. The apartment sizes are fairly good, he is in a 1 bedroom that is about 600 square feet. He has not been able to experience everything just because of the virus. But overall, I would recommend to others looking.

This community is adequate. It is an older building with a small dining room requiring eating in three shifts. Not bad

Response from Addolorata Villa
November 6, 2019Thank you for your recent review! Our community celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2017, and it has been our joy to provide safe, comfortable senior living options within our vibrant community! You are correct that we do not have a dining room that allows all of our residents to be seated simultaneously. This is due, in part, to the fact residents are in control of their own schedules and determine how they will spend their day. We do not dictate when they have their meals. They select the time of day they prefer and we do our best to accommodate them. Thank you again for your feedback and have a great day.
Very nice people here I got a very warm feeling and the folks in the community looked very happy. Downside is the age of the property but this could still be an option. Mom would like the religious factor here

We encourage you to continue exploring all we have to offer and we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your feedback!
I am very impressed with your retirement villa, services and accommodations. At this time, I don't need the level of care and service that you provide in your independent living setting, but will keep you in mind as my needs change and will not hesitate to recommend your location to other people I know that are looking for independent living at the level you provide.

When you're ready, we would be pleased to help you make the transition to our senior living community! Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for reviewing our community in Wheeling.
This one did not feel as warm and comfortable to us. It had great options, but we didn't get the warm "at home" feeling we got from other places.

A Place for Mom has scored Addolorata Villa 9.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
