They are always friendly to family and mostly they are kind and caring to my father-in-law. His personal space not always as clean as we would like. But father in law has toleting issues and without prompt attention it's a no win situation. Extra cleanup is very often needed and not always timely. Overall, he seems to like the food. Overall, it's a pretty good place.... Read more

I did not care for the locations much of this community.
This is one of the best places I could find. This was close to family for our loved one. I like both the Manager of Memory Care and the Executive Director. Music, dancing, painting, and more are available for activities for the residents. The activities are good. This is a good place to live.

The tour was fine we just did not go with this community as our final decision. The community that we picked for our loved one just fit our needs better. It was a good tour.
The care and the people at The Atrium really stood out to us, they really went out of their way to be friendly, the community is also clean. The rooms were very nice, and we would recommend this community to others.

My experience having my mother at this facility started bad and got much worse during her 5 year residence. We had private 24/7 care for my mom, she would not eat their food so we brought in prepared food from home and also prepared meals purchased. Her room had broken lights, missing molding on the floor, her toilet was not secure to the floor and a hazard and more. After requesting for 1 year that these issues be resolved they were not. When [name removed] was hired as their new Executive Director I was promised that she was hiring new staff and would address these issues promptly. That was also not done. Promised made never kept. The carpets are soiled and the hallways smell terribly. The elevators are another item that has frequent breakdown and out of service issues. On occasion my moms private care staff would need a hand with my mom getting in or out of bed and no staff was available or willing to help. Reaching the end of my rope I spoke to [name removed] who once again was not helpful. I asked her why we should pay $5,500 a month and receive no care or services and at this point their facility was a box with a bed in it for my mom. They have also discontinued the daily 4PM live entertainment in the lobby to save money I'm sure. When I asked what their cancellation policy was she stated "30 days with written notice but I will accept this conversation as your notice". I replied "don't put words in my mouth and that I would formally notify the Atrium when I was ready and that I did not appreciate her passive aggressive behavior". In the end my mother moved out around Aug 1, 2018 into an apartment where we maintain her 24/7 private care and both my mom and her care takers are much happier. We are also saving $4,400 per month on the Atrium fees. A post like this is not something I have never done but feel so strongly about the inferior care at the Atrium at Boca Raton that I was compelled to write this. Beware before sending your loved one to this facility.

My tour of The Atrium at Boca Raton went well, but it was not what we were looking for. As soon as we walked in, we noticed the place was very smelly and dark. The staff were all very friendly but the place was not going to be a good fit,

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. Initially we were very impressed by what we saw here. However, when we came back for an unannounced visit so I could show it to my husband I was much less impressed. I saw a few care issues handled in a way that I wouldn't have be comfortable with if it was my loved one.

Response from The Atrium at Boca Raton
October 19, 2015Thank you for taking the time to review our community. The Atrium at Boca Raton is disappointed to learn that you did not have a better experience during your visit to our community. It is our priority to deliver the best quality services and care for our residents. Please contact myself, Shawna Johnson, Executive Director at [removed] to share more information on how we can better meet your expectations going forward. Thank you.
As far as the regular floors I do not have a problem, staff was always very nice and pleasant but when my family member was moved to the 2nd floor Memory unit my feelings changed dramatically. The staff on the 2nd floor are mean and uncaring, the night shift is the worst. I do understand it is a hard thing to deal with but if you are not able to deal with patience with memory loss than they should not be working on the floor.I do have to say the activities director on the 2nd floor is very nice and does try to keep the residence active as best she can. It is a very sad and depressing floor. I truly hope something changes very soon for the sake of these poor residence.

My father moved into the Atrium several weeks ago. Initially it wasn't our first choice; but we were lucky that the initial place we had decided upon did not work out. Dad has a studio, that is really more like a small one bedroom. The apartment is very nice. The staff is wonderful. The activities are great; my father does not miss a single one! It's like living in a hotel, with daily maid service, turn down service and three meals a day. Ice cream daily at 3pm; cocktail party with dancing at 5pm. Movies nightly. There's even room service if he doesn't want to go down for meal! The residents are like most residents in Assisted living; mostly walk with walkers and many have some memory issues. My father is 83 and also walks with a walker, but he is "younger' in his appearance and abilities than most, but he has found some nice new friends. Told me today "I'm the happiest I've been in a long time."

The Atrium at Boca Raton is a wonderful place, they have so much to offer the people who live here! The staff is very friendly, and they're always on top of things, you never have to remind them to do anything! The facility itself is a bit on the older side, but still very beautiful. They've got a huge variety of activities, games, discussions, and events to keep the residents entertained. 7 days a week at 4pm they'll have a pianist and sometimes a guitar player come in to play music while they serve wine and hors d'oeuvres. And the dining room is absolutely beautiful! I also like that they replace the towels and the toilet tissue in the bathroom every day. It's just a very nice place overall, and my loved one really seems to be enjoying himself here.

I got a good feeling about how they fill the needs of their residents. Personalized!! A bit pricey for the room but I believe suitable to fit Dads needs. If he needs help to get to the dining room they can assist or even on occassion bring it to him. They like their residents to get out of their apartments and be social. The room may be upstairs but elevator and assistance is available. Piano entertaining happy hour plus Prespertarian service.

May 20, 2014Thank you for taking the time to review our wonderful community at The Atrium at Boca Raton. We're glad that you felt the price was affordable and we are very blessed to have a medical center directly behind our building. Feel free to reach out with any additional comments, suggestions or questions. We're always happy to help!
I have toured several facilities in the past month and The Atrium At Boca was by far the cleanest building I have seen. The staff was so friendly and the resident rooms exceeded my expectations. I would have peace of mind to have my mother live in this community, I know she will be happy living here. So many activities for the residents. Thank you Atrium for the great experience!

They don't necesarily pay attention to changes in medication. I also would never use their doctor. The price is reasonable, and it's a good size, not to big and not to small. No matter what it's all about the staff, and anywhere you go that is a crapshoot.

My sister wrote the previous review and I can only add how very much I agree with all her comments. If anyone is looking for a place for their parent The Atrium is absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend them. Everyone is warm and caring. They have more than exceeded our expectations. We never worry about our mother as the very attentive staff watches her and always reports anything they see as a potential issue. They have provided us with the opportunity to know that at all times our mother is not only cared for but she is happy. After four plus years of our mother residing there we have only positive comments and know in our hearts that our decision to have her live there was the very best decision we could have made.

I can't say enough good things about the experience my mother has had at the Atrium. She entered a little over four years ago and is still a resident. She started out in a lovely space and received excellent care. Very loving and attentive. When the staff felt it was time for her to have more attention, they recommended that she move to the special care on the second floor. It was a seamless perfect move. The same people have been working there for most of the time she has been there.I feel that says something very positive about this facility. When we go to visit her someone immediately tells us where she is and we are greeted with a smile and a hug from the staff.Iknow that everyone there has become very attached to my mother- they really care about the residents and we LOVE them. The care givers that are not on her floor still come to visit her! We arrive at different times of the day, and she is always clean and well cared for.The activities are stimulating and appropriate. This is a lovely place that I would not hesitate to recommend to everyone! We feel so close to everyone there- they are our extended family of very special people.

We looked at it and liked it as far as aesthetics, but the atmosphere was cold, not from the staff, but from the residents. After the tour and seeing how the people were, we had lunch there and requested to have lunch with the president of the residents council. She pretty much confirmed what we saw that people are pretty crabby and not friendly. We had made an appointment for the tour, but when we got there, the woman was not even in town. The activities director gave the tour, part time guy. Finally, the manager came to apologize. After we left, they never called if me to find out if we made a decision. I never got a call from anyone, I thought that was very odd.

Response from The Atrium at Boca Raton
January 7, 2014Thank you for sharing your experience at The Atrium. Although your experience was not a pleasant one, at The Atrium we pride ourselves in customer service. We have a very active and engaged resident population which unfortunately was not apparent during your visit. Many of our residents even take an active role on the welcoming committee orienting new residents during their transition into The Atrium. Additionally we apologize for not returning your call following your tour. If there is anything we can do to be of assistance at this time please do not hesitate to contact us. Also we are available to speak with you directly to understand if there is anything additional we could do going forward to provide a better experience for our guests. Chris Kochan, Executive Director - [removed]
They seem to know the needs of the residents and take care of everything. After viewing several communities, we decided that The Atrium was the best fit.

My brother lives on the second floor, which is a locked floor, because he wanders. Everyone on the regular floor can come and go so if he was on that floor he would walk right out. The people staying there seem to be very happy. The food is not what my brother might want but it's not bad. If you can afford it, this seems like a very nice place. It is expensive though. The do have entertainment. The other night there was a singer who was very good and it was a nice long show. If you walked into this place and didn't know what it was, you would think is was a very nice hotel.
