I was able to secure a spot for my loved one at this new community. The community was very accommodating on making sure he was comfortable on the first floor, and they even allowed him to eat out on the patio. They even let me know to not provide a cell phone to call me. They stated that my loved one would be calling me at all times of night. They let me know that he needed to get adjusted to the new community. My loved one's son took him to the community to get him settled in. The room was near the dining room and the activities room. His son feels it was a very nice and clean room. The community keeps the rooms small to allow the residents to get them out of the room, to get to know other residents and keep them engaged in activities. They allowed me to drop linens and other items off at the guard gate and the staff brought the items to my loved ones. They are allowing him to have as much ice cream as he can have. The rooms are small. You can call Furniture World is near the community, and they know all the sizes of the rooms at the community. This retail store will be able to bring the furniture to the room for my loved one. The price is comparable to the prior community. I feel it is a bargain as long as I feel comfortable knowing where he is at.... Read more

This review only allows me 1000 characters so I will be brief but unable to list all the issues that prevail at Abbey Delray during my Dad's 85 day stay there ultimately ending with his death 30 days after his discharge due to a NOMNC notice rudely given to us by a so called social worker who was rushed and didn't have time to give to the Family. 1) up to an hour and more delayed responses to call button requests 2) took two weeks to get proper wheel chair 3) removal of doctor from Dad's case after lack of proper care of Dad. 4) although contracted rehab team were basically doing a good job, Dad languished at the hands of abbey employees. 5) CNAs failed to assist Dad in going to the bathroom most of the time leaving Dad no choice but to go in his Diapers and then labeling him incontinent. 6) Administrators, directors and nurses giving lip service to the Family where the issues remained throughout Dad's entire stay. 7) Dad entered AD doing crosswords and left a man unable to stand

No place is perfect so I’ll not base my review off a perfect score but for what I’ve seen with my own eyes and from what the residents say, they are very happy and enjoy the activities and food. It would be nice for more of the residents to becomes involved and create their own clubs.

The community is very clean, the staff and residents are all very friendly and welcoming. The meals have been a little bit of a challenge because of the supply chain and staffing, but they are working to make improvements and they were working very hard. They have an exceptional number of exercise classes and entertainment. They have different lectures and we go out on different outings. The expenses are high, but paying for mental comfort in the future if you should need their services is worth it

The facility is very nice. We had an excellent tour and they took care of us, but the location was just too far away.

Recently I noticed my jewelry has been stole, and the food quality has declined. At first ordering food that was good was easy, but now it has been more difficult and of the food items are not edible. I was very lucky i get a deluxe room, which i love my apartment. It is spacious and very nice.

They show me they do not care about people I seen it with my own eyes the state of Florida treat dogs better than they treat the patients to the CNA’s they need to do there JOB.

After an expensive buy-in and apartment upgrade expenses, my parents were kicked out of Abbey Delray when their resources dwindled. They were misled when they were recruited, when they signed the paper work, and about what the policies were. Abbey Delray worked very hard to recruit them with lots of promises of "continuing care" and made specific promises they had no intention of keeping. They way they recruited my parents and guided them through the signing up process should be considered elder abuse. BUYER BEWARE!

My mom started in independent living for 3 years and that was great! Lots to do or not do, friends galore, one meal a day ( most folks it's around 4 pm) and a great apartment. The buy-in is steep and you need 3 times that to get on. You also need to be cleared by a dr. The independent living side is gove 5's for everything but value because if the steep buy in. My mom developed some dementia and fell in her apartment. She rehabbed in the rehab wing and it wasn't great. They don't seem motivated [Removed] folks back up and walking and many times you go in and people are begging you for an aid to change them! They also have folks passed out in their dinner and the nurses are mostly LPN's. It was not uncommon to see blister packs of meds on the floor next to the med carts. Also, the computers with patient information were often on in the hall for any passerby. After rehab they moved her to the memory wing - total one flew over the cuckoos nest! There was a guy in a chair with a puddle of urine under himself, another resident attaching another resident and staff seemed clueless, although nice enough. So independent living - high marks Rehab - low marks Memory center - lowest marks How they have managed to avoid an outbreak to date is beyond me! Each employee needs training on basic hand washing / glove use ASAP. They also need to be trained to protect residents!

Everything is fine here as long as you are healthy. The facilities are lovely and many people are friendly. But there is a big change when you can no longer live independently and are moved to Abbey’s Health Center. I am the adult child of two parents who died in Abbey Delray’s Health Center: 1. My mother had had surgery and was sent to the on-premises Health Center to recuperate, but she was placed in the Alzheimer's ward, where I found her sitting slumped over, ignored. There were a lot of people sitting slumped over and ignored at the Health Center. 2. After I had her room changed, my mother seemed to be improving, as long as she was getting physical therapy. But that stopped and she was left sitting in a wheelchair. A woman who was in the Health Center for a short recuperation whispered to me that the nurses there do as little as possible. I didn't believe her at the time... 3. Mom got repeated bladder infections, which I’ve been told happens from not being changed properly / enough. This was a chronic problem, and the infections eventually caused serious damage. 4. My father fell and was placed in the Health Center. He was lucky enough to get a nurse who was good, until she got injured. I visited and found him calling and calling to be helped to the bathroom. I asked for help, and a nurse appeared screaming at him. I reported her, and she was disciplined; the next time I visited, his diamond ring had disappeared. 5. From his frequent bladder infections and dehydration, my father was also repeatedly sent to the hospital where he caught the MRSA virus. My parents both died at Abbey’s Health Center, I believe sooner than they should have. While there are some wonderful people there, I give very low grades to Abbey’s Health Center for the above reasons.

A Place for Mom has scored Abbey Delray 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
