I can't thank Terra Bella Thornblade enough for all they've done to care for us. We became aware that our loved one's former facility was no longer safe. We immediately began looking for a new home for him. Of course, we showed up on a holiday weekend, without an appointment, and with hearts full of pain and anger. We were quickly assured that they're only priority is taking care of the people entrusted to them. The first thing I noticed was that the atmosphere was both friendly and light. No one seemed nervous and everyone seemed to love anyone who came within sight. This includes the staff and the patients. Our loved one arrived in full melt-down, and Atari instinctively understood his need for order and stability. She gave us most of the day to unpack and then walked in large and in charge. He calmed right down and even quit fighting me on the reasonable placement of furnitu He's home now, and we're looking forward to a very long relationship with Terra Bella Thornblade!... Read more

My Mom moved into assisted living at Terra Bella Thornblades in mid of September 2024. Terra Bella Thornblades has 6 levels of care. We are paying the top level. Per Mom’s care instructions the PA’s are supposed to check on her every two hours. She is a fall risk. This never happens. Per her care level, the PA’s are supposed to give her showers three times a week. So far, they have not given her any showers. My daughter has been giving her showers. Per her care level, the PA’s are supposed to wash and dry her clothes. I had to stop this because several pieces of her clothing and her bed clothing never came back. Per her level of care the housekeeper is supposed to clean her room, bathroom, and change her bed at least once a week. Her room has been cleaned twice. I have been changing her bed.

Please note these ratings are based on Memory Care aspect. All of changes in staff and the administration is one of the reasons for some of the lower scores. And there isnt clear communication on the changes and how it will impact residents. I would most likely recommend them but advise there are things that can be fixed and may be addressed once the staff changes have settled.

Staff are very receptive to suggestions and her needs They have been great! They are actually letting her eat and socialize with the assisted living side because most of the memory care side are more advanced than her

The staff at Kempton of Greenville was always very courteous and kind, speaking to visitors, other staff and residents when passing in the halls. The residents were also very kind to me as a visitor. I got to know several of them. My loved one's room was kept clean, and the staff was always available by text if I had any questions. I would definitely highly recommend this facility to others!

Covid restrictions were really only issue as limited interactions with mom and our visitations to see her. When we went on the tour, the marketing manager was very helpful, answered all questions, asked various questions and showed us all room plans/floor plans that were available. Overall it seemed like a very nice place, no warning signs or anything that was of a concern. Staff was very quick on response with any questions or concerns. Meals and dining they had options or they could pick the same thing daily if wanted.

Our family had an in person tour and we did like a lot of things but the price was just a little bit higher.
Had my concerns with former administrator. New administrator stepped into place and the community has flourished! What an outstanding team they are now and huge improvements in just as little of a month. I am forever grateful that now with the proper management in place, this community will be the one to beat!!!!!!!

We chose Kempton of Greenville because of the staff, the location, and seemed like a safer facility as well. Residents get a lanyard with a button they can push if they need help. The room that they have is nice but the layout makes it seem tight, they have a 1 bedroom with a den. I would tell others just to make sure to be good with communication with what your loved one needs and make sure that they follow through. I think they could improved on the cleaning in the rooms. Overall I would recommend to others who are looking and I have.

my mother was sent to the hospital and they refused to accept her back. This is called dumping. The laws dont protect seniors because it is done under the guise of medical necessity. Mom was diagnosed by the hospital as having dementia and thats it. She had that when she moved in 4 months prior. The staff that was kind and cared for my mom and advocated for her was fired for speaking up to management. The others quit. unless they get new management I would stay far far away. dont be fooled by the pretty decor of the lobby. if you can hire home helpers or move somewhere else, do it.

if you are looking for a senior style apartment with a sprinkle of assistance, then this may be a good fit. For dementia it is TERRIBLE. Their memory care is not for high functioning. In the assisted living section, my mother was consistently having issues. i found out she was sleeping in her jeans and no one would encourage or help her get ready for bed. management would ignore my calls and actually had a text group with other staff not to talk to us. Food was acceptable at best. lots of fried. but it was served "restaurant style". we have found a much much better place and have had zero issue since moving out of oakleaf/ kempton of greenville. i have learned a LOT about what is going on at assisted living facilities and what to look for. dont be fooled by the pretty decor.

They had plenty of activities, my mom just didn't take advantage of them. I would tell my friends that it was a wonderful facility. The staff smiled, and it was the first thing I noticed. The chef was a wonderful guy. It was a great place. If I had to end up in assisted living I would want to go somewhere like Oakleaf Village.

My Mom has Alzheimer's. She tried to leave - because that's what people with this disease do. They sent my Mom to the ER and left her there. For 5 days - no change of clothes, no nothing and refused to let her come back even with a sitter. In the peak of the Corona virus pandemic. Who does this??? There was no medical reason - they just cannot deliver the care they promote - 100% unprofessional. We have since found a place for my Mom where they care and work with her with patience a d compassion.

They are in process of updating common areas. Gonna be really pretty in another month. This is a larger facility and I really liked the space. Plenty of staff to help patients. There are elevators and long corridors I felt would be confusing for my dad.

This place is not somewhere that you want to have your loved one living. The turnover is very high. The management has been one bad director after another. We complain about issues and are told they will get corrected and nothing ever happens. I’ve witnessed caregivers assisting my mother in law with very little attention or care that she is being moved from her wheelchair to chair safely. I could go on and on. Just stay away.

Oh stay away. My mom is currently the facility we are moving her out. They can not keep staff at all, something is wrong big time here. Some of the staff that is left is awesome will ensure your loved one gets what they need, and then the others sit around on their cell phones having personal conversation while my mom stares at a blank screen. The food is God awful, my mom has lost so much weight. The building is falling apart. Mom went a week without hot water and it wasn't the first time. My moms medications aren't given correctly, my son taped a girl sleeping and told management nothing happened, that same girl works back there now still sleeping but whats the point in reporting it. This place is a [Removed] and shouldn't be connected with the Thornblade community at all. Beware for your loved one, the management is convincing but once you get in it's a big mess

My experience with Oakleaf Village has been a very good one. It's a nice looking place, the staff is friendly, and they take great care of the people who live here. I highly recommend them!

When we first moved our loved one to this facility it was state-of-the-art; fully booked professional staff who seemed to care very deepy about their residents and just an overall good place to leave your loved one in someone's care and feel good about it. Little-by-little this started dwindling away. Broken dryers never getting fixed, wet clothes being folded and placed wet in resident hampers; was the first red flag for us ...to front desk not beeing covered; watching a resident fall out front and the front desk girl runs out to retreive him and upper management never left office to assist front desk or go out and checkm on the resident that fell. Particularly on the assisted living side, there is not a lot of concern as to where a resident is. They can be sleeping the day away, missing lunch; etc. and mostly because there is such a changeover in staff that they aren't given the opportunity to really meet and understand the resident's habits before they quit or move on. The facility is still very clean. No complaints on this end. Only real complaint is their staff changeover is way too high and this generally means if the staff isn't happy, and there are huge turnovers, things aren't being taken care of at the top. We were saddened to move our loved one because they liked their room and resident neighbors, however, we felt the proper attention was not being given to our loved one and we chose to move on after much anguish. Our loved one for the most part, didn't need a lot of help, however, with all alzheimers patients, there are good and bad days. We began to have way more bad days than good and it was time to move on. If the changeover wasn't so frequent, we may have considered the memory care side at Oakleaf. But honestly, if the assisted living side and memory care side are managed by the same upper management staff, I can't see where this would have been a benefit. We are very grateful for the staff that did go the extra mile and care, but like I said, the majority of them are gone and I would have no way to even reach out to them and tell them. There one day and gone the next. It was hard keeping up with current staffers. Best of luck to everyone in this very difficult search to find a facility that loves and cares for your parent or loved one as much as you. I felt very compelled to share our story, because families need to know. This in no way meant to degrade the facility becasue we are grateful for the time that was good, but hopefully it is educational wake up call to see what they are clearly missing right in front of their own eyes. Best regards,

A Place for Mom has scored TerraBella Thornblade 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
