She's still getting to know the place and adjusting. It's all new to her, and it's been a really big adjustment. It's the cheapest place and best price I could find, which is why we considered it. But I would say you get what you pay for. They're just coming out of the pandemic too. They're having problems with staffing, just like every place else. I've talked with them about it, and they're working on it. And it's getting better. It's not a bad place. I know that my loved one is safe there. On occasion when I've tried some of the food off her plate, it's been good. I think the main problem is they mix the dementia care residents in with the regular elderly care, and that seems to be a problem. I think if they had more staff, that could be more manageable. I just know that all the other places I toured had separate units for memory care vs. regular residents. Also the people who handle the medical are hard to get ahold of. And I wish the doctor had a more pleasant bedside manner. But I don't want to be harsh on Southern Care. The staff there are great. I've become friends with a lot of them. Lockdowns are diminishing, and when I talk to my loved one, she and I have decided to stick it out and see how things change as the world goes back to normal.

Our families experience was just like a disaster horror story. Southern Care is a non corporate community so we thought it was going to be such a great experience for our loved one, however that was not the case. Our loved one moved in well knowing who people were, talking, was coherent, walking around to nothing. Her mental state declined within a week. The facility and room is ugly, they could not keep eyes on our loved one, they could not keep things on track. They come off as an assisted living community, but coming from a medical background 90% of the residents that are memory care. We are not blaming the staff since they told us it was assisted living but the care they gave was not adequate. Our loved one fell to many times to count, ending up with scrapes. The hospice team we called in was absolutely wonderful the entire time. There was no night nurses because it was assisted living. Once again nothing bad to say about the staff, they just are not adequate to handle residents who need a lot of assistance.

Southern Care is a great facility. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I would recommend them to a friend. They are cost-effective. My sister likes the food. They have a big porch with rockers in the front and other space in the back. The room sizes are of a good size.

My father in-law was at Southern Care for about 3 years and we were pleased with the care. After a bad experience with as assisted living facility in Donelson, we decided to move our mother to Southern Care. It’s not the fanciest with all the bells and whistles, but it is clean, small enough that patients actually are called by their name. Home cooked food (actually seasoned and not packaged) and family members can have a meal without any cost. Very little employee turnover, most of the workers were still there from several years ago. I was impressed when we walked in and they still remembered us from when my father in-law was there. Meal time can be challenging no matter what facility. Yes, people in wheelchairs are lined up waiting to be seated, did bother me at first, but I don’t know any other alternative. Safe, caring and affordable.

There is no place like home but home, period. My Mom was here for 3.5 years until her recent passing, and I can say hands down she was extremely well cared for. Nurses and nursing techs were all very kind and compassionate and did every single thing I ever asked of them. Nurses called me if there was a change in Mom's condition or a new medication. The food was always fresh and home cooked and they would offer an alternative if something was served that Mom didn't like. When she passed, the whole staff grieved with me. If you are worried more about the actual care your loved one receives versus the lavishness of the building, this is an excellent choice for you. The facility is clean, food is good, staff is kind and compassionate, and monthly rates are very reasonable for the amount of care and assistance provided. What more could you want for your loved one?

Southern Care is a very friendly place and they do serve good food to their patients. However, there is a problem with cleanliness. My husband has been there for 2 weeks and I visit almost every day. However, the entrance locked door glass panes are always dirty. ALWAYS! Also, it seems housekeeping is kind of slack. Vacuuming is only minimum. I know because I bought some of the powder you use to take away odors in carpet, but where I sprinkled it is still there and in plain sight. They also are very slow at night especially to answer a patient's ring. My husband had to urinate but after 45 minutes of buzzing for help to the bathroom, he finally just went into his diaper. He has Parkinson's and cannot walk, so he needs help. There are many times I go to visit and his room is a disaster, bed not made, dirty clothes still in the hamper, etc. However, I have been told it is probably the same as most other places.

I think everything at this community is overall above average. They have a great staff team that accommodates my mothers needs as best as possible and makes sure she is comfortable in her new living environment. There has been no issues with the food and she has slowly started to participate in the activity program they have available. Overall we have no serious complaints and would recommend this place to anyone.

I stayed less than 60 seconds. The first impression was so bad I had to go. People are sitting in their wheelchairs all over the main room waiting for lunch. They looked unkempt, some without their dentures. Definitely not a place where I felt my loved one would get the care he needs.

I really did not like this community at all. I would not send anyone that I know to this community. It was just very undesirable. There were gates everywhere so the residents could hardly walk around. The room was sub par and they had to share a bathroom down the hall. This was just not the place for us.

My wife was there on two occasions. The people were friendly. We lost clothes on both times and her prescription glasses on the last visit. We will be looking for a different place next time.

Our experience with Southern Care has been a good one, overall. We toured quite a few facilities in the area, and I liked the homey down to earth atmosphere they had here. They provide excellent care at all levels, including hospice care, and the price is very reasonable for the level of care they provide. It's just a really nice place, overall.

I enjoyed the feel of the facility. When my family and I visited we got a tour from one of the staff and we saw that although this place was nice we didn't agree with some of the rooms and for that reason we continued our search.

We checked this place out. The only thing that I didn't like was the way the showers were set up. The showers were shared with another person, you had a private toilet and a door that led to the shared shower. It was just a bit of a turn off for us.

What a wonderful care facility and an amazing staff! It feels like a large caring family and such a homey atmosphere. Mom is very happy there which was a concern at first as she has not been away from her family or friends for all of her 93 years. The services they offer cover almost all needs and they are always willing to help find assistance if they are not able to provide it. We are so fortunate to have been referred here through a referral from A Place For Mom.

We were really happy with our experience at Southern Care. While it's probably not the place to be if you want Persian rugs and chandeliers, it is the place to be if you want kind, courteous care for your loved ones. It will be our first choice should we need care solutions for other family members in the future.
