All I have is great things to say about Charter. No joke literally everything is a 5. I was extremely impressed. I was there almost everyday and was very impressed. The fact that it is small makes it easy for residents with mobility problems to get around. It's fantastic that it's one story. Also, when they have little field trips, the staff goes on the field trips, including OT and the PT person. The director [name removed] is amazing.... Read more

June 19, 2024Deena, thank you for sharing your positive experience! We're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help!
We are very happy with the experience so far at Charter Senior Living. I think for the most part I would have to say the reason it has been a good experience is because of the staff members. We would recommend this community to other families.

We have been so happy with Charter Senior Living in Franklin. We were dreading moving our father to assisted living, but the staff at Charter have gone above and beyond to make our father feel at home! Would highly recommend!

My mom has been at Charter for only a month, but I wish I would have moved her here earlier. I can’t say enough about the respect I have for Charter’s leaders, [name removed] and [name removed]. My mom is very happy here. The staff is great, very caring. Not only all that, but they also have courtyard ducks!! Great place to live!!

This was a very nice tour and I liked the community but we wanted something for my loved one that was one story only and closer to my house to be able to see my loved one. The tour was nice and it was a very nice community.
My mom moved into Charter (formerly Morningside) in August of 2013. Her first comments were: "There's nobody here but old people. I don't play bingo. I'm not going down for meals." Within a few short weeks, I was visiting her and noticed she kept looking at her clock. I finally asked why and her response was "Bingo starts in 10 minutes." Needless to say we had a change of heart and attitude. One of the most impressive things there is the nursing staff. Currently, the group there are the best in my opinion. Not only are they skilled nurses but they go over and above to take care of their people in every way. They did an amazing job during the Pandemic. The current director is doing a wonderful job and she has years of experience under her belt. I would highly recommend Charter to anyone looking for a place for Mom or Dad!

First of all I will say that the food at Morningside is absolutely awful. When my mom was there 2 months ago I would go and sit with her at dinner or lunch and I could not believe the meals: pale, tasteless, gray, unimaginative. The picture above of fruit and greens is fraudulant. The lettuce is white and the fruit canned much of the time. There is a huge turnover of staff and that is concerning. They would have a time each month when the patients could voice their opinion of the food. When they heard complaints, nothing changed. Food is frozen for the most part and heated up. The place is disorganized. The crafts infantile. Overall, I would warn you in thinking the pictures represent the place.

The nursing is wonderful at Morningside of Franklin. They are very observant. The building itself does have issues. We've had cable issues, water leaks, etc. I would like to see the maintenance improved here. Overall it has been a good experience.

We were very pleased with everything here! The staff were friendly and professional, and it looked like the care and activities they provided would be very food! One problem we noticed was that although the common areas and front entrance were nice, the hallways and rooms looked a bit shabbier, and could probably use recarpeting.

My Mom moved into Morningside, Franklin, TN in August of 2013 not a happy camper. Was very upset at the family decision to place her there and struggled with a less than steller attitude for 2-3 months. Not sure what happened, but she is a totally different person these days . . . understands she is absolutely where she needs to be, loves the staff, is participating in Bingo and other activities; enjoy meal time with her table mates. She is receiving great care, a staff whose hearts are in what they do and genuintely care for the residents. Complains every once in awhile about the food, but who doesn't??!! I've eaten a number of meals there with her, esp. at Sunday lunch and food has always been quite good. My siblings and I are so relieved to know that she's in a safe, loving environment.

I really was impressed with this one. It was just very up to date. The facility itself had been renovated. It was very modern and bright and they have a community there, not only assisted living but a retirement community also. It was close to the mall too.

6.0 miles (13 minutes) from our home. 2nd Assisted Living Facility facility we visted. The facility shares an entrance drive with a high-end residential neighborhood of 1 story zero-lot type homes similar to Dot's. All well maintained with expensive cars parked around the homes. No traffic concerns or about the neighborhood declining around the facility. The facility is all on one-story which is a benefit. Doesn't have a grand entrance as you enter into a large area that immediately opens to the dining area. We visited at lunchtime so we saw most of the residents. Most all were highly independent, dressed well and interacting with each other at the table areas. Caregivers were assisting some in and out of the area and they all knew and spoke with the director who was touring us. He did not call all of the residents by name though he did speak with them. Quality of facility and rooms were similar to the first facility but not quite as nice. Large common areas are used for activities and watching large screen TV. Level of care seems comparable to 1st facility, but less entertainment, not quite as fancy. Still nicer than what I was expecting. We were toured by Executive Director and he is very very knowledgeable of assisted living business and very caring of all residents. We toured several apartments (all nice) and met with a lady who kept talking about how wonderfull the place was. Her apartment was lovely with furniture she chose from her 10 room house. She stated she could have chosen any assisted living facilities in the area and chose here because it's most like living at home with an extended family and staff that love and care for you. Doesn't feel like you're in a hotel like other higher priced facilities. This facility is part of FiveStar Senior Living and pricing is mid-tier; no hidden costs. One time move-in fee is $1,000, but the director agreed to waive $500 because Dorothy's a vet.

Liked the size which made it a little more intimate....did not like the apartments as well. Would like to have a 1 bedroom deluxe, but was told there is a waiting list and these apartments rarely come available.

A Place for Mom has scored Charter Senior Living of Franklin 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
