First night no so good. Dad laid in bed when he first got here for 45 minutes with coat, clothes and shoes on. He was like this when we got here and we found staff to change him as he was transferred from a hospital with staples in his stomach. He had a sore throat and could not eat his food so we tried to find someone to give him a boost or ensure drink but everyone that we found told us they were new and did not know where anything was. We opened the refrigerator to find it full of these drinks and that’s all they would have had to do. He had to use the restroom and when we finally found people to help him they told us they would come back but never did. Fifteen minutes or so later when dad was hurting because of his stomach they finally put him in a hoist but when he got to the toilet they forgot to take his pants down. The poor care continued until we talked to [name removed] a person in charge. She assured us this would be taken care of so we will see tomorrow, i’m worried.

Response from Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake
November 22, 2022Thank you for letting us know about your experience thus far. At Saint Therese, we appreciate all feedback as it helps us identify areas where we can improve. We encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts with the staff throughout your father's stay so we can quickly address any future areas of concern.
Our family had in person tour experience and it was great the Saint Therese community was wonderful. It is a beautiful community, this was our second choice. However the community was way to far from our house and the hallways were to long for our loved one to walk with her walker. Also it was way to expensive.
Workers and staff are nice. Love my 2 bedroom apartment, spending time in the library, and all of the entertainment that comes to perform.

I feel secure and safe living here. The facility is well maintained. Plenty of activities if you want to be involved in them. My family enjoys visiting me here. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is looking. The location is great! I do wish there was some more closet space, but other than that I enjoy living here.

Overall, we were not happy with our experience here. She was here during the pandemic so she did not get to experience a lot of the things that the facility would normally be able to offer. I do think that they were understaffed as well.

My elderly mother passed away in April [removed]. Their response times to her call button were atrocious. She became conditioned to not bother even using the call button. She fell trying to get herself to the restroom, and broke her pelvis. The staff at Oxbow is alarmingly unqualified. How this place is still in operation is a complete mystery to our family.

My grandmother has been in both the transitional care until and a resident in their assisted living apartments. The care in the tcu is a joke. The nurses do not care and repeatedly left my grandmother for hours immobilized in a wheelchair unattended without her pain medication. We have witnessed patients repeatedly ask the nursing staff for assistance getting to the restroom just to be blatantly ignored. We have also had a HUGE problem with [removed]. From money to clothes, nothing seems to be off limits for the staff to help themselves to. don't let the pretty building fool you. This place is full of staff that are cruel, lazy and criminal!

My Mother has been in and out of rehab facilities for 1 1/2 yrs. and this is by far the best care she has received. PT 2x day for an hour and OT 1x day 6 days a week. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing, gourmet standards, and the facility is beautiful and clean. We were hesitant to go here because of the horrible reviews and planned on transferring once another place had an open room. We are very happy she is here and plan to stay through transitional care and are considering assisted living. I highly recommend this facility for anyone that wants great care in a friendly, clean environment.

The building is beautiful but the care was TOTALLY unacceptable. My mother had pain meds delayed, up to 2 hours after requesting them AND they were a standing order on her records. Many of the staff don't speak English and don't understand English. This caused much confusion and frustration. My Mom was there to recuperate and rest from surgery, but she needed to be VERY in charge of her own care, even monitoring how many tablets of meds were given and when, asking for sponge baths, even after having the flu. She would turn on her buzzer and wait 20 to 30 minutes for a response and many times would buzz again. There didn't seem like there was any urgency with many of the staff. I feel VERY Concerned for the residents who have ANY mental decline. Makes me wonder if they will be properly taken care of.

The transitional care unit at St. Therese of Oxbow does not do what it promises to do. The longer your elderly parent is there, the weaker they become. Run as fast as you can in the other direction from St. Therese. A loved one had a terrible experience there in January of 2015.

My mother-in-law would like me to let as many seniors as possible know that St Therese should be on NO ONE'S list of options as a transitional care unit. Our family wouldn't wish our experience on any other families. Don't choose this place, your whole family will regret it....

Beautiful TCU facility, but looks can be deceiving. Seems like they spent all the money on the building, and none was left over to hire a qualified staff. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

STAY AWAY from the Transitional Care Unit at St. Therese at Oxbow Lake. If you value your parents, do NOT choose this place as a transitional unit after being discharged from a hospital. They are understaffed. The staff they do employ is undertrained, or worse, completely indifferent to the residents.
