Prairie Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care

Moved my grandmother in AL and she absolutely loves it. Thank you Prairie Pointe.

They have a great staff. Sadly, the staff is pushed to the limit due to staff shortages. The facility is beautiful. They increased my parents' rent close to a $[removed]a month over the past year. However, Illinois cost of living index was 3.3% & the increase is well over this. Sadly, there has not been any increase in staff or services to justify the additional cost. I also talked to a few nurses that have been there since they opened. They have not received any increase in wages as a result & staff turn over is significant.

We picked this community because of the smaller number of patients. They are living in one area, with everything included in this area: dining room, TV, activities, theater etc. I would say Staff and Cleanliness is 4, all the rest is a 5. These 2 things suffer a bit on the weekends when staff can be short.

Although there remains room for improvement, definitely headed in a good direction. Attentive and caring building level administrators. Willing to listen and trying to make positive growth. The cleanliness has improved recently with the addition of two room cleaning staff and a new custodian. Very kind, empathetic, and dedicated staff on all levels. A definite strength for this facility. Shower days are often canceled at the last minute or offered at inconvenient times; required weekly change of bedding is inconsistent; and laundry help is sporadic at best with machines frequently down. Seem to need more CNA level staff. Nurses and CNAs are all trying very hard but are often strapped for time. Recent changes in cooks seems to have the kitchen moving in the right direction. Food has been better lately with more of a variety and increased flavor. A welcome improvement. Also, need to get back to offering sugar free ice cream as well as 'low salt' options. Organized efforts but with only limited participation. Dominos, bingo, movies, ice cream socials, crafts, and community outings. Needs to be promoted more effectively. Very good value, especially when compared to similar assistive care facilities within a 30 mile radius. A positive, friendly, and upbeat community of administrators, staff, and residents. Overall, this has been a great placement for my loved one for just over [date removed]. I'd highly recommend checking it out as an option for your loved one requiring assistive and/or memory care.

We are very happy with this facility. The staff and administrators are caring and kind. They take the time to make sure the entire family- including the resident are taken care of during the transition to a memory care facility.

We picked this community because of the location and value compared to other options. Newer property so could accommodate her needs. I want to stress on the short staff - the staff is great. They just need more but I think that is a challenge throughout all assisted living care facilities.

The community is great, management is very professional. The food is great the nursing staff is super helpful and engaging with residents. The tour with [names removed] was amazing they were very through and took the time to explain everything and answered all my questions.

There are less than 20 residents in memory care and the staff all know them by name. The times I have seen the activities, several are engaged and smiling or laughing. I wish there were more through the day. When there is not an organized activity, I would like to see the staff a little more active with residents. When my mom was healthy, she would refuse to consider a community living style but she quickly adjusted and says she is comfortable in her apartment. It is always clean and without odors. My mom is also clean. I like the sense of community, several of the other family members have become friends and we keep an eye on each others family. I like the flat rate- no levels of care as they progress but find it odd that there’s an add on for WiFi that is more than if you have it in your home. The director is approachable and receptive to concerns. No place is as perfect as home but Prairie Pointe has been a blessing for our family and my mom is thriving.

My mom was ill and the staff was great, always letting me know how my mom was doing. The ED also kept in close contact with me.

Community is clean and inviting. Management and Leadership always willing to listen and help at anytime. My mom is well cared for. Thank You!

I would recommend they look elsewhere to be honest. They were having staffing issues which is understandable, but the real issue seems to be leadership at the top. Beautiful looking property and decent food. There is definitely room for improvement here, but not how it was being run at the time we stayed here.

My mom passed in [date removed] from heart and kidney failure. She absolutely enjoyed her time at Prairie Pointe and you guys were a great resource. All 5's especially value for cost. Being privately owned PP can prioritize their care before worrying about shareholder returns. Our family found PP to provide precisely the environment and level of care one looks for in an assisted living facility. The outrageously competent and caring staff truly seem to enjoy their work.

Very nice place. Staff friendly. Roomed cleaned almost every day. They took very good care of him. Meds on time everyday. Meals very good. Lots of activity for everyone. Cost & care exceptional. I would recommend to anyone.
