Right at home

I moved here a year ago from Florida and was very nervous, but everyone here was so caring and I felt at ease. It never felt like I was in a facility, it felt like home and the staff felt like family. You couldn't ask for a better place.... Read more

5+++++Stars!!

This facility is awesome! Talk about being a hometown facility that actually knows their residents and genuinely cares and this is it. The community craft fair that was just hosted was fun for every resident and lots of community members. An actual fishing trip is planned for the residents! An honest to goodness old fashioned fishing trip! Who does that these days? Our family is over the moon happy our Mom is here. 5++++++stars!

Local Facility with 5 Star Care!

Gorgeous little facility that is literally right down the street from Hershey. We were impressed that the facility is locally managed and not a big chain. The staff really know their residents and actually care for them. Rooms are super nice and the new activity director has the place bouncing. If you are looking for a local place where your loved one isn't just another resident then this is the place for you. 5 star recommended.

Outstanding Hometown Facility

This little facility has a hometown touch that sold our family on it. The staff actually know our Dad and we can tell they genuinely care for him. The activity department just got a huge boost with a new director and Dad seems to really love the new activities. Rooms are large and the place is simply immaculate. It has a wonder outside courtyard for warm days. The free transportation in the facility's activity van is super convenient for appointments and activity outings. We couldn't be happier with our choice!

High on my list!

I toured this charming little facility while looking for a place for my uncle. It is newer and is not corporate owned which I liked. Staff were very friendly and the place was busy. They indicated a new activity director was on the job and you could certainly see it was active! Rooms were bigger than I expected and you could tell the staff actually knew the residents. I will be visiting again. High on my list!

Most Welcoming In Area!

We are moving our Dad in this week. We have toured all of the area facilities and the staff here are the friendliest to deal with. The facility is immaculate and staff answered every question and concern we had. Placing a loved one in a home is very stressful and [names removed] made us feel very comfortable and like family. We also appreciate the no charge on facility transportation. They have a great van with a lift. I met the owners while there and they are super guys with a total focus on quality first. Thank you.

Highly Recommend!!!

Our Mom moved into Palmyra Heritage House last summer. They recently had an ownership change and it has been fantastic. [Name removed] and [name removed] have been great to work with. We did a lot of research prior to choosing this facility and found that with its smaller size and local ownership, Mom was able to get more personal one on one care. The new activity director [name removed] really has the place lively! We couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend!

Great changes in 2018!

Our Mom moved into Palmyra Heritage House in 2017. The facility had an ownership in April of 2018 which has made a tremendous difference. There are more staff in the facility and a resident van with a wheelchair lift is available for free transportation and activities. We are very happy with the changes. We are also pleased that the facility is locally operated and not part of a big chain. The staff know Mom personally and this gives her and us comfort.

We went on a tour. No one was there to greet us and we were able to just walk right in. We were ignored by the women in the front office and it wasn’t until some nice nurse came out five minutes later that we found who we were looking for. Granted it was a very busy day at the home as the Director was training five new people that day. That being said the tour felt rushed, I was only able to ask a few questions and it felt more like we were being sold a product rather than a place for our loved one. Inside was very clean, residents had just finished showering and then were playing bingo. The memory unit was very small, but the rooms were nice. Security was my biggest concern with us just being able to walk right in to the main area. We could have walked right back to the Personal Care Unit and I was not sure if anyone would have even questioned us. It just was not what we were looking for, but thank you to the director for taking some time to show us around.

Need To Hire More Staff

My mother is doing okay since her move to this community. However this community is under staffed, and the infects other areas in the community. The existing staff is good, and they really are trying their best to take care of everything. They have made a lot of promises they have not followed through with. For the most part she is safe, and in good hands. They need to hire more aids in order to improve the quality in other areas around the community. Overall it is a community I would recommend.

Short Experience, But This is a Caring Community

We had short experience with this community. Unfortunately they were not able to provide the level of care she needed. It was a good experience overall. They were very kind and helpful. I like the fact they were honest with my about no being able to provide the level of caring my wife needed. Jennifer was wonderful, she told me if I ever need anything to call her. This is a kind community.

Pleasant Tour, Very Nice Community

This is a very nice community, and my tour went very well. The community looked very nice and clean. Everything was neat and well maintained. The rooms they showed us were not what we were looking for. My mother wanted a kitchen in her room, they didn't show any rooms with that. The staff was kind and informative. It was pleasant tour.

A Place for Mom has scored Palmyra Senior Living 10 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
