I choose Mayberry Gardens as I truly believed it checked all the boxes. The facility was clean and cleaning was scheduled on a routine and provided sooner if it was necessary. The staff and administrators were friendly and supportive. The food always made my stomach growl if I was visiting at a mealtime. Activities seemed to fit both the season and the interests of residents. This was not the least expensive nor the most expensive, and I feel was a great value for the money.... Read more

Mayberry Gardens looks great but I think the people who work there are not trained enough. From the first day we left my mom we realized something was not right. We had to teach them how to handle, lift and even feed my mom and the problem was that this was constantly because they always wanted to do things the way they wanted, some of them were more conscientious. We started to find mom with bruises on her arms and legs and they did not inform us. Very poor communication with us and between them when they changed shifts. After a month my mom changed drastically, she started screaming and we tried to find out what was wrong with her and we did not know what it was. Then she started screaming louder and louder and became aggressive even with me. I did not know what was going on until one of them called me and informed me that the manager of the place was giving her medication from another patient without authorization to try to calm her down. Texas Health & Human Services Department was involved in this situation and they let the manager go. We decided to leave my mother there, we thought it was not good to move my mother from there, she got a little better but she still kept screaming especially at night and they didn't give her anything to calm her down, she screamed until she got tired and fell asleep. After this, about two or three weeks later we took her to the hospital because she didn't want to eat and she screamed but from pain, they didn't even notice, it was us who didn't stop going even one day that we found her in that condition, they didn't know if she had eaten that day, or the days before. She ended up with pneumonia, dehydration and constipation. My experience was terrible, instead of feeling sure that she was going to be okay I felt that I had to go every day. It was an agony that I don't wish on anyone. Analyzing everything I think that the person who guided me in the office should not have accepted my mother if they didn't have the ways or the preparation to care for my mother. My advice before deciding to put your loved one in a place, do a good search and read the comments, many of them are true. But I also have to say that there are people who do care about the elderly in this place, but most of them just do their job and don't care about anything else.

First of all my father has adjusted very well and he really likes it there. The manager and aids have been very helpful in all areas. Our family is happy that our dad has adjusted and comfortable there.

5 stars for all! I really liked all of the staff. The aides kept me informed daily at the end. They gave me their personal cell number. I was out of state. I could always talk to someone. They were so sweet. We got a nice size room. It was the largest one there. It was really nice.

My loved one was previously a resident at Mayberry Gardens Living and Memory Care and I loved the facility. The facility was very clean. Based on the experience, there are both praiseworthy things and opportunities for betterment.

Mayberry Gardens is the perfect for my aunt. They have gone above and beyond to help make sure my aunt is being taken care of in the best way possible. The staff is caring and friendly. Third time was the charm for finding her perfect home. I’m glad I finally called A Place For Mom or I might still be looking.

The reason we gave the care services a 3 is only because the staff to patient ratio isn't being upheld consistently. 5th ere is supposed to be 2-3 staff members/15 residents per house and frequently they are down to just 1 staff member. The meals tend to be very carb heavy but otherwise great. They represented that there were more activities than actually being done/offered consistently.

We toured with Mayberry Gardens for assisted living for my loved one and the set up configuration was smaller bedrooms but bigger community areas. It was just not the right fit for her and what we were looking for.
I am disappointed. Overall, the communication is good but I had to initiate that. They can improve by having more, adequate and qualified staff. The facility went up in price, which was very disappointing. Supposedly the industry went up an average of $[removed] because of increased costs. The care that she's getting is nowhere close to my expectations.

Mayberry Gardens was excellent - they received our loved one at the worst point in her care and they did a superb job. We loved the personalized attention our loved one received from the aids and they were just so sweet to her. Their communication with us was top notch it was very good. The community was so clean and they always got everyone up out of bed and for that we would absolutely recommend this community to other families.

My loved one was in building 3 and things were not too bad. But had to be moved to building one and it's been terrible. The building is 98 percent of time is spotless and doesn't smell. They have had a turnover in aides. Can't seem to find people who want to work and care about the elderly. Laundry has stacked up. Meals missed. Cleanup and hygiene help not performed. If you are bedridden you are in trouble here at this time. I feel like management tries but they fo t have a good handle of what goes on.

The rooms were very small, and the community puts an emphasis on activities and keeping the residents social.
The owners are reachable via text, call, or email. and they are willing to meet with the family which is great. They do try to accommodate the family's requests. There are some great people here that care for the residents. There are some frustrations with the meals and this is because it depends on who is cooking that day. I love the way the staff interact with my loved ones. Overall we are happy with the way they are treating my loved ones. I would recommend Mayberry to others for their loved ones.

Thanks to Mayberry Gardens and the staff, I can't thank them enough for the wonderful care that they give my father. They are honest and take care of him with all the respect in the world. Most of all they keep the place clean and it smells nice. I am so impressed with Mayberry Gardens, they have allowed me to be my father's daughter again.

I would recommend you have time to see your loved one often. The staff are friendly, caring, and kind. The turnover of staff is high in the community. The food is decent for the residents. They offer church services, nail polishing, painting, arts and crafts and more are some of the activities offered to the residents. The Activities Director position is a high turnover position.

They are really doing good and have a good level of care. My mother is in assisted living and does not need much help but they do what they can for my loved one and she likes them. They have activities like bingo and more but Covid has paused things at the moment due to quarantine. They do a good job but right now they cant do much of anything. We took a chance and we are happy that we are here.

A Place for Mom has scored Mayberry Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
