I was impressed with the cleanliness and how clean it smelled. I've been in other facilities where patients are changed timely and the stench of dirty diapers fills the air. This was not like that at all. meals were cooked fresh and residents who were able to sit in the dining hall ate with everyone. everyone acknowledged our presence and made us feel welcome. the care was better than most places so I am pleased with the care. However, they were at times short-staffed and caused delays in providing timely care. for those who could participate, activities including singing, crafts and was quite enjoyable. The rent went up without anyone letting me know. I know my mom is at the top for care but I feel rent and care are very expensive and now it's gone up another [fee removed] a month. It's at the point now her monthly income cannot cover expenses. If you have any ideas or ways to help or assistance in this I'd love to hear! Overall my mom is happy at the facility. I am very pleased with the care! Price is the only thing.

My loved one is a resident at Duncanville Senior Living. The senior nurses and directors are always brushing you off and are never available. They never follow up. They mix up residents' clothes when washing. They also allow other residents to go into other residents' homes and take items. The move in process was okay. The meals are okay, not the best quality. Management needs to be available more when questions are needed to be answered. And clothes need to be washed.

Management doesn't always follow through with requests. The staff are friendly and it is a good value for the money.

Staff is professional, and being a nurse myself, I was very observant. The facility is clean and I was surprised at how soon they 'learned' my loved one's ways or personality. They knew her wants and dislikes really quick. She's what I call stern not really a mean person, but she means what she says on those authority type of days (when she wants to be in charge). Staff is not offended, they roll right with it with kindness. I haven't really had to call or have anything to communicate. The move in was easy. There was one evening when dinner was pizza-maybe an alternative choice on that day would be better - she's old fashioned. You don't serve pizza for dinner, that's lunch, she told me. I would recommend this facility.

I'm so glad I moved my mom here. The place is always clean. The atmosphere is calm and inviting. The residents seem well cared for. I would give it 4.5 stars because no place is perfect..I recommend visiting at different times to see if it's a good place for your loved one. I haven't been there during activities so I couldn't rate.

The only real complaints I have is with regard to tenant and visitor access. The system in place for securing patients is not by any means 100% effective. I have found the door to main access unlocked or open several times in the recent past. A more effective approach to keeping the access door closed at all times would be to incorporate a mechanical closing device. Using such a device would more likely keep the door secure thus allowing tenants to have the access code and not have to tie up personnel assets for the purpose of monitoring the one and only tenant and visitor access point. This would also help to keep people from having to wait in the elements for someone to open the door from the inside

We really like that the GoodLife Senior Living community has a homey feel to it and is welcoming. It does not give off that cold nursing home feel at all. We also really like that family and friends can come visit at any point whether is early in the morning or late at night - no appointments or scheduling needed. Families can also come to the community and cook and invite however many people they want - the community is very open like that. The friendliness of the staff was great when our loved one first moved in but with the turnover and new staffing coming and going sometimes it just depends. The meals and dining services seem to be okay. We do think the staff could improve on their documentation and communication to the families - when a loved one falls sometimes it does not get reported or communicated back to the families.

For the most part, it was the best place for my loved one. Most of the employees were wonderful but night visits, it was harder to find staff for questions or concerns. Most definitely one of the nicest and cleanest facilities I've been in. The regular staff who cared for my loved one was great. Weekend staff and overnight wasn't as attentive. RN wasn't always available and some staff wasn't as attentive to my loved one's needs and he did have several falls resulting in injury. Meals and snacks are far better than most facilities. Facility provided daily/weekly activities for residents that they seemed to enjoy. The price we paid for the care and comfort that was provided was worth it.

This was a good community, it was more than we wanted to spend.
What sold us on Goodlife was the atmosphere. It is smaller and more down to earth and home-like. We felt very comfortable with [name removed] who was showing us around, she was wonderful. We were able to get a room where my mother in law can look outside to a fountain and greenery and she really loves that. We think she has improved greatly since she has gotten here. We are so impressed with the staff and they take great care of her. The facility is neat and clean and the rooms are great as well. We were concerned about the nutrition for her and the lady who cooks all of the meals makes sure that they are balanced. She is getting more active with exercise because they have a lot of things going on so she is not sitting around. I have only heard positive feedback from our whole family. She is very happy here.

We did not like this community, it was very expensive, extremely expensive and they did not seem like they had enough staff. The people were very nice but they didn't have enough staff and it was dark and gloomy. It did not seem like a good place for the spirit.
It is a wonderful place to be and I suggest you take your loved one here. The food isn't very tasteful and I think the cook could improve on the food. The food is cold when it arrives to my loved one, as they choose to eat in their room. The value is very, very good. The staff are good at working with the family with any questions or concerns I may have about my loved one. You are able to take your own furniture to have your loved one feel comfortable in their rooms.

The community was very nice during our tour. The only downfall was it was out of price range.
We chose GoodLife because of the convenient location to family and once I got here the manager really helped her a lot early on and that impressed us. The room here was private, it is one big room with a bathroom. The caregivers were very sweet, gentle, and patient with my mom. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

A Place for Mom has scored Duncanville Senior Living 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
