I score all points a 5. We toured and compared 5 other places before choosing Lakeview and we are still pleased with Lakeview after 1 year. It is a much smaller community but with higher ratio of caregivers than other places. It is an older facility but extremely well updated and clean. They just put in all new vinyl plank flooring so no carpet in public areas. We really love that there is a beautiful totally enclosed outdoor patio area that residents can go outside any time they want during the day and don't have to be accompanied. The building is in a beautiful wooded setting on a small lake. Not at all like a traditional 'facility' setting. The nurses are all very competent and know and are attentive each patient's needs. I review my mom's meds periodically with the nurses and am confident everything is being administered correctly and on time. Mom's doctors are all pleased with her care there. The nurse aids are all so attentive and patient and personable. Every concern we have ever had has always been taken care of. The whole staff is friendly and caring and respectful to all patients and ensure to preserve their dignity. They are so well trained on how to deal with difficult situations that always arise with dementia patients. Everyone is treated with respect and true loving care. I've never heard a raised voice or cross word from any caregiver and I or another family member are there quite often. There are hourly engaging activities offered every day - residents are free to choose what they want to do or not do. The activity director is an exceptional energetic person who always brings smiles and joy to work every day. She's creative about planning engaging simple cooking classes, arts and crafts, music programs, and games as well as Bible studies and outdoor activities like ice cream socials. The food is good with usually a well balanced meal plus dessert - Mom has gained weight since moving in. She would prefer more soup options because she doesn't like hamburgers or hotdogs which I'm sure they would do for her but she can't remember to ask for those. The resident's rooms are always kept clean and tidy plus laundry. We were able to put up family pictures in Moms room to help assure her that she was in the right place and of being in a familiar room with her own possessions. My mother and stepdad were among the highest functioning at this facility. If you loved one needs memory care, but is still very social and alert, this may not be the right place. The staff was always very nice and the nurses had a good eye to recognize warning signs of potential health issues. The maintenance of the facility was less than desired. While this is an older facility, it is in a lovely setting with pretty grounds. The area advertised as a "Library" is not fully available for resident use because its used for staff meetings daily. Every time my mother wanted to work on a puzzle, it always seemed to conflict with staff meetings... so my mother lost interest... which is a big deal when trying to encourage enrichment activities. The Executive Director was terrible and was demoted to a smaller property. The next one lasted no more than a couple months and resigned the day my mother was attacked by a psychotic resident. We moved my mother and stepfather after this incident because no one ever called us when she had to taken to the ER and the management failed to take responsibility. With a competent Executive Director, this facility would be good. The hallways started smelling like urine in 2024. I truly liked all the staff members, except the ED. The activity director, [name removed], was wonderful and the techs and nurses were helpful and cared about their work and the residents.

From the start, we had an issue with my mom not being placed on the shower schedule nor was her laundry done for 2 weeks. After we straightened out the oversight, things went smoothly for some months but later we started to notice that on the weekend things went awry! Mom's room was not clean nor was she receiving the care she needed. I brought this to the Director's attention and he assured me it wouldn't happen again, but it continued to occur, mostly on the weekends. We then made the decision to remove my mom from the facility after only 8 months. If Lakeview had put as much effort into taking care of my mom as they did getting my business, they would be spectacular. Kudos to [name removed] for selling me on moving my mom to Lakeview!

Response from Lakeview Estates
December 20, 2023Hi Sara L, thank you so much for your positive comments about Lakeview Estates!
Lakeview had higher ratio of staff per residents and was smaller community of residents (35-38 residents). Also residents have full access to beautiful enclosed outdoor patio area that they can go out to anytime during day by themselves - don't need staff or family member accompanying. That was a BIG plus for Mom who has always been outdoors person Master Gardener. This is a 2 story building and residents are able to go upstairs or downstairs via elevator anytime they want. So mom doesn't feel like she's "locked away". The young activities director is super engaging. Activities going on every hour during day and she will go around to rooms to engage residents in all activities. The residents don't just sit in rooms all day. There is a big game/puzzle room. Every one on staff is very caring and engaging to residents no matter their job - from the Executive Director, Billing officer, Sales person to the nurses, aids, & cooks.

November 10, 2023Donna A., thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review! We're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help!
The entire staff have been great! The RA's are particularly wonderful because they make my mom feel special! She's enjoying the attention and support that she gets from them. I appreciate all of that too, along with the individual care she gets and the time that they spend helping her pick out her outfits and making sure she feels pretty. She hasn't complained about the meals, so I assume she's satisfied. We did have some issues in the very beginning because my mom hadn't been put on the shower and laundry schedule. We seemed to have gotten over that hurdle. I would definitely recommend Lakeview Estates to others.

I really like all of the people there, but there is always room for improvement. We picked this community, because my loved ones were able to share a room. They have lots of activites, and they do a good job with encouraging participation. They need to improve on, communication with long term insurance companies. It's really a great place. They have less residents, and they get to know the residents.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought the tour experience was fantastic but because of the level our loved one was at, Lakeview was just not the place at the moment but it very well could be in the future.

This place is great. My sister is no angel and tends to give them a hard time, but somehow they're able to roll with the punches. Even the Executive Director has helped. Any other place would have probably asked her to leave. I visit twice a week, my sister seems very content here. The staff is fantastic. They're very nice. They have activities all the time. My sister is not usually one to participate, but has done so here and enjoyed it. She's even made a couple friends. The food seems to be good quality and variety. Housekeeping is often and they do a great job. I would recommend them to family and friends.

December 4, 2022Hi David P, thank you so much for your positive comments about Lakeview Estates! Our team strives to deliver an excellent experience, and are glad you found this to be the case during your visit. If you have further needs or questions, please reach out!
The rooms at Lakeview Estates were just too small. Also, while I know they can get confused, one of the residents actually approached me in the lobby and told me that living there was bad. The receptionist got up from her desk and whisked that resident off quickly to "activities." The resident did seem very unhappy.

September 18, 2022Thank you for your kind words and allowing us to care for your loved one.
I toured Lakeview Estates and it was nice. Our tour guide, [name removed], she went above and beyond to provide information and communicate. She was a very very good communicator. We chose another community because Lakeview cost a little bit more and I didn't think it was worth more, although it was closer.

August 20, 2022Thank you for your visit! We are glad that you had an enjoyable experience and hope that you will reach out should we be able to assist you in the future.
Had different expectations, that they would be watching him more often then had liked. Ended up having to have Fire Department come each of days he was there (for a very short period) but they would have to pick him up from falling each day.
Lakeview Estates is a happy place. You will feel confident knowing your loved one is well cared for. My loved one seems content in being here. The community could add some additional menu items for dietary restrictions. My loved one likes to stay active with all the activities available in the community. It feels like a cruise ship because of all they have to offer. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. There has been some turnover of staff, and have gone through a recent transition with the new staff coming onboard. Housekeeping, laundry, three meals, snacks, once a week outing, activities, electricity, water, and gas is all covered under the monthly fee. The care fee can be additional. Medication management, bathing, dressing and hygiene care are all items the community assists my loved one with. The community is only two stories, with a lake nearby. It is a very scenic area. There is a courtyard in the middle of the community for the residents to use.

September 14, 2022Hi Susie S, thank you so much for your positive comments about Lakeview Estates! If you have any further questions, please give us a call. We're always happy to help!
I would not have my mother any where else for assisted living memory care. The staff is caring, compassionate, and responds to her needs and keeps her happy giving me the opportunity to continue to work and travel in my job. My sister and I both travel extensively in our jobs and we are able to work with confidence that she is cared for. We recently had to have her in the hospital and in rehab but as soon as we could, we readmitted her back to Lakeview. There were tears shed when she left and tears shed when she returned yesterday. I work in long term healthcare myself and I know the difference and I can certainly recommend Lakeview Estates to anyone that needs some loving care.

A Place for Mom has scored Lakeview Estates 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
