Independence Village of Ankeny

My experience has been great. It is the number one place I have been.

There is lots of activities and things going on. I enjoy the outings they take us on and the crafts. The staff take time to get to know you.

I didn't want to move here. My daughter helped me find this place and it changed my life overnight. it's taking time to adjust, but they keep me busy, I've made good friends, the food is good, they are very accommodating, and I go to lots of activities. My daughter visits often.

We are very pleased with our choice of this assisted living facility! The staff has helped make this transition for our dad go smoothly. They really get to know the residents and their families. There are a variety of activities daily and the meals are wonderful! The residents get to know each other and become like family for each other.

Independence Village-Ankeny is simply wonderful. It is clean, modern and has a very caring staff. I couldn't ask for a more ideal place for my mom.

I was excited for mom to be there after talking to the Admin director. It seemed there were a lot of upper management changes after she moved in. Some of those changes were not good. I'm not too impressed with communication from the Director/Nurse. I have talked to him directly and am hoping that things will change. My mom seems happy and that's the most important part.

The staff has virtually adopted Mom, taken her as one of their own. The level of care and attention is quite impressive!

My Mom has been there for 2 1/2 years now. She transitioned from assisted living to the memory care unit as her dementia has progressed. The staff has been very helpful and caring from day 1. A very nice, bright, and clean facility with awesome employees. The chefs do a great job on the meals as well. Just a great place all around!!

My sister is happy and content at Independence Village

My dad moved into Independence Villages of Ankeny after living independently for 10 years. This move was a big adjustment for him; however, the staff has really welcomed my dad. He always comments to me that the nursing staff takes great care of him. He loves that the staff takes care of ordering and dispensing his medication. He enjoys the morning exercise classes and field trips. He eats in the dining room at a table of men and refers to them as “my guys.” His one bedroom apartment is the perfect size for him. The maintenance and cleaning staff are wonderful. My dad is so appreciative that he doesn’t have to clean, vacuum or do his laundry anymore. The staff takes care of that for him. I am there frequently visiting my dad. The other residents always go out of the way to stop and talk to us when we’re in the hallways. I will stop in at the nurses station and get a quick update on my dad. I am so appreciative to know that he is in a safe place and that he is well cared for.

We moved Mother to Independence Village -Ankeny three years ago. At that time she fit perfectly in assisted care. Recently as her memory has gotten progressively worse, a room opened up in the Memory Care Unit. The staff at Independence Village is amazing. They know our family by name and are always ready to help with everything. It gives our family great comfort knowing that Mom is treated with love and dignity in her later years of life. From the maintenance man, to the chef, to the front office workers, to the caregivers, they all work as a team and are ready to help no matter what we ask. We highly recommend Independence Village Ankeny!

I appreciate the services offered for my mother. I often find her her hearing aids not charged or not on her, I find her clean and dressed and well fed. Unclear about what medicines she is taking and how many. Overall, we are content with how mom is cared for.

My mom lost her husband last year and decided to move to Independence Village in Ankeny so she could be close to her family. She moved into a one bedroom apartment with a private bathroom and a livingroom/diningroom/kitchenette combo. She brought her own furniture and keepsakes and now has a home she loves! The staff cleans her apartment once a week and they provide all of her meals. They also administer all of her medications. There are always activities that she can participate in or outings that residents can sign up for, which she really enjoys. If she wants to go out with family or to dr appts, she just signs out. She also has been on several short vacations with family without any problems. I love Independence Village of Ankeny because they have dedicated and caring staff. From the Administrator to members of the housekeeping staff, my mom gets the best care. Everyone knows her and makes sure she is well taken care of, both mentally and physically. They are the best!
