Response from Edencrest at Siena Hills
June 5, 2024We take a lot of pride in how we care for the residents in our community, so we appreciate you noticing and sharing your review with us. We’re working to connect our community activities here as well. Check out some of our on-site events happening in the coming months like our Sensory Bin sessions and our exercise classes designed for memory care residents. It’s great to have you as a part of our Edencrest at Siena Hills family!
It was the nicest place I could find for my brother that met the criteria of having assisted living and memory care. Our main criteria was that we needed a facility that would do a spin down. We agreed to pay for two years with the plan to go to Medicaid after that. They only have a few places for that and I just hope management changes don't affect that plan.. Overall, I am happy with our choice!

July 3, 2024Dear CC, We know quality counts and we are so glad to hear you’re enjoying Edencrest at Siena Hills and the quality of service we provide. Thanks for leaving your review!
It is a nice community with a good amount of activities that suit many different types of individuals. The staff is friendly, and gives my loved one appropriate care for their needs. The primary factors for choosing this community were proximity to family, cost, and overall feeling of comfort when touring.

I toured Edencrest at Siena Hills when searching for an Assisted Living facility for my loved one. This facility was nice, but it seemed a little bit dated. However, it was more expensive than some of the other facilities that I toured. They didn't have the type of apartment that my loved one wanted anyway, so I continued on with my search.
Read MoreEdencrest is understaffed and they need more help. The girls that worked there and worked with me were fabulous, but the people in their memory care facility were hired from an outside firm. They had to bring staff in because they are so understaffed, because of that his care wasn't as good as it should have been. When I argued with them about this they were very accommodating, willing to listen, and did make some changes. Anyone that puts a family member in a care facility should have a camera in their room. No one takes care of your family member like you will take care of them. If I didn't have a camera in the room, that would've been a sin to me. For me to be able to watch the camera and call in to say he's on the floor or he needs this and that, is invaluable. They're supposed to check on him every 30 minutes, but that wasn't happening because they were so understaffed. The girls in the unit that were there, kind of just sat on their phones. If I was an elderly person and one of the residents who live in their little apartments, I'd rate that a 10/10, as they are looked after. The people in the dementia hall need more attention because they don't have a voice. Assisted living residents can speak up and say what they want or need. There were family members who didn't visit their loved ones in memory care, so they didn't get as much attention. I, personally, visited my loved one often and was bathing him 3 times a week. Although I was paying the [price removed], I was basically the one caring for him (aside from nighttime). I've been to three different facilities with different loved ones, and it's all the same thing. They're all understaffed and if the family doesn't participate in their loved one's care, they're going to get what they get.

Our family had an in person tour and we really liked this community, we were able to see a lot of different activities for the residents to do. However the rooms were a little smaller and they did not have nursing on the weekends and due to the severity of our loved ones wounds we would of wanted someone there on the weekends.

What stuck out to us about Edencrest was they had single rooms available when we were looking which was important to us. They also had a special where we were able to get a recliner and TV for free. The facility is brand new and very well laid out. It was bright, clean, and overall just well thought through. I think because of covid they have had some short staff situations, but they covered shifts well and things were taken care of. I would recommend them to others looking.

The common areas are really clean. It doesn't seem like the residents don't get a lot of support of cleaning in their apartments. I would suggest you continue to be an advocate for your family member after move-in. I wish the staff would reach out more for needs of our loved ones, and any questions or concerns.

August 21, 2021Thank you for your input! We appreciate your feedback and will work on improving the cleanliness of the building immediately. I welcome you to reach out to Nick Lensch, Portfolio Leader, on his cell phone at 515-201-5056 to discuss further details. Thank you!
The cleanliness of the community seems pretty clean, but sometimes our loved one has complained about the smell of cigarettes in the air. Most of the staff members have been friendly, but when we were going over the pricing for the care services we felt they were being a little pushy and urgent to get us to sign off on the care our loved one needed. The value for cost was a sticker shock.

The opening here just feel in my lap. They were great through the whole process. The staff is pleasant and cooperative. They handle my dad's meds well, and handle all aspects of his care well. He likes to play pool here and hasn't lost a game yet. They have an exercise center they go to as a group, and they watch movies and things like that. I haven't seen an activities calendar so far. I think it's a good value here.

We chose Edencrest at Siena Hills because of the friendly staff members. They are always helpful and more than willing to answer any questions or concerns that you may have. I do think they could use better quality foods on the meals that they serve. Overall I would recommend to others who are looking.

What stuck out to us about Edencrest at Siena Hills was the friendliness of the staff that visited with us and their interaction with my mom and dad to make sure everything was to their liking when they moved in. Their memory unit is great, they made accommodations so that my parents could stay together. After a while, we moved them into a bigger room and they loved it. I just think the staff goes above and beyond for their residents. The food here is tremendous as well. All around they do an excellent job.

They are a very welcoming and friendly community. The community cares about the residents. The communication has been good. Edencrest was good at keeping us updated with COVID. The food was amazingly good, wide selections, and good quality. Prior to COVID I was able to eat a few meals with my loved one.

My mother n law moved to Eden Crest at the end of January. She had been at another assisted living facility in Ankeny. It was just too big and over whelming for her. Eden Crest feels more like home and the staff has been incredible. So glad to have her someplace where she is so well cared for.

I am so grateful to Edencrest Sienna Hills for their excellent care of my sister, who has intermittent problems with memory and dementia. I roomed in the newly opened facility with her for 10 days last year, and every single staff interaction I saw was professional and caring—even when staff had no idea I was nearby. All levels of staff totally exceeded my expectations! At one point a young staff member irritated my sister by telling her a little too stridently that she thought she’d have more fun if she left her room more often—exactly what I’d been saying for days—unsolicited but clearly well-intentioned advice. My sister is frustrated with her loss of independence, but her rare complaints about this reality are always followed by unsolicited praise and gratitude for Edencrest itself—music to a sister’s ears. She had been extremely unhappy in two previous settings, so in my opinion Edencrest Sienna Hills is tried-and-true, and I am so grateful!

August 27, 2018Thank you for your kind words! We are very proud of our staff and strive to roll out the red carpet for everyone who lives in our communities. We appreciate you choosing our community and being a part of our Siena Hills family!
Sienna Hills is a beautiful facility! I could not have asked for a better environment for my dad. The staff goes above and beyond to make the residents feel cared for. The staff became like family to us. The Health Care Coordinator personally cared for my dad and showed him so much attention. She watched him enough to recognize subtle differences in his disposition and health. The Activities Coordinator pleasantly encouraged my dad to participate in activities when his preference was to stay in his dark room. The activities were thoroughly enjoyed by my dad once he participated. The meals are very good and there is a variety to choose from. If a resident really likes something that is not on the menu, they seek to accommodate. My dad became very close to the transportation driver. [Removed] truly cared about my dad and was more than a driver. He helped him with a lot of things both physically and emotionally. The Management was equally kind and accommodating. They took my dad in with open arms even during a busy time for them and made the transition a pleasant one for the entire family. Thank you Sienna Hills for everything!!

January 25, 2018Wow! Thank you so much for this wonderful feedback. We are beaming with pride reading your kind words and can't wait to share with our team members. This is exactly why we do what we do. Thank you again and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make life even better for your father!
This is a brand new facility with only four residents right now. The staff seems to be very personal and they aren’t letting my Mother sit around all day. For activities, they offer things like exercise classes, arts/crafts, and they even have seasonal parties. I’ve also eaten the food here and it’s really good. If you don’t like the main option, they do have a café menu you can choose from. The only thing that I can think of they could do better is their communication skills. When my mom is away from the facility for a longer period of time she does have adult diapers. However, the staff has been putting those on her all of the time when she doesn’t need them. I have been talking with the health coordinator and she is checking into it. I would recommend this community to other families.
