Grace Point Place - Look No Further

Our family is based about 30 minutes away, but for the price point and cleanliness, I think it's the best place. I did tons of research had countless Zoom calls and visits to other places that were substandard. Grace Point Place is a newer build - the facility is about 5 years old. The staff is great. My only wish is that they would do field trips or attend events where the residents can get out side more. But other than that, it's great. The care they're providing is top notch. They've definitely been doing their due diligence keeping me informed. And when I visit, they're very warm and helpful with any questions I might have.

I have toured this community three times. I learn a little more each time I visit. They are very knowledgeable and seem to be the experts in memory care. I have also attended one of their family support groups. It's great to learn more about my mom's memory care needs and to know that I am not the only one going through this. We plan on moving mom in this summer.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a great tour experience, everyone was super nice and friendly but the only reason we did not choose it was because of location, it was just a little to far away

Caring Staff & A Clean Facility

I have found the staff in general to be pretty helpful and accommodating. In our particular case the staff does a lot of hard work and I don't think they're paid very much. So I'm very appreciative of what they do for my mom. I did find the administrator to be very helpful in getting us in, and getting us information & help when we needed it. I would recommend Grace Point to others.

I never could imagine that I would no longer be able to care for my husband at home. This was the biggest decision I have ever had to make in my life. I am so glad we picked Grace Point Place. My husband is well cared for. The move in was smooth and I was guided along the way. Thank you for giving me peace of mind Grace Point.

Great Place Depending on the type of resources your loved one needs

It's a good community, the staff are professional. They provide good services to family members. Make sure to think about what services you want. It is definitely worth the price. If your loved one is bed ridden, I'd look into other options.

Peace of Mind

With my mother now being at at Grace Point Place I am no longer fearful of my mother wandering outside by herself as she had in the past and she is finally in a secure environment that is now keeping her safe. She is with experienced staffing who are trained in dementia care and therapy along with the daily activities and socialization with residents. It is no wonder why my mother now calls Grace Point Place her home.

Grace Point Place - the future looks great

I really like this community, it looks good and it's new. I believe they are heading in the right direction, but they have had issues with staffing retention which has created some challenges. They've recently filled some positions, so hopefully things will improve. Grace Point was one of the better communities out of all the ones we visited. It is expensive, but I'm hoping that with the new staff they will return to a level of normalcy and service that matches the cost. I have faith that this will happen, as they seem to have a positive attitude regarding their future.

Not worth the money

Grace Point was very bright and had a warm inviting atmosphere, however during our loved ones stay they were very short staffed which resulted in a lot of turnover. Since there was a lot of turnover there were a lot of inexperience workers there, and the ratio from staff to residents was inadequate. They also said they could take all levels of dementia but that was not the case, and the communication was absolutely terrible.

A good place for loved ones

The staff members are awesome, they have been very responsive and we are happy with the care services. Our loved one appears to enjoy the meals. The activities are still pretty limited but they do send us things on what they are offering so they are trying their best.

Our contact was [name removed]. We were greeted and told to check in at the Kiosk located on the corner of the receptionist desk that provides you a name tag - if you are not comfortable with tech items you'll need to ask for assistance. Due to COVID this facility did not offer a COVID test and we could not do an actual walkthrough. [name removed] was having computer problems and we were unable to do a video tour, however, she did show us pictures and pulled up some fun times the facility had on her phone's Facebook. This facility recently had some staff turnover and we were told there was some bad reviews posted by disgruntled ex-employees, which they are working through. Fifty spots were currently filled out of 80. There is 1 caregiver to 6-7 residents and 2 nurses 24/7. A Doctor is on staff and has partners (cardiologist, neurologist) if needed. Average age of residents currently in facility is 70 - 80. Washrooms are available in each room and 1 on each of the the floor (there are 3 floors). Cabinets are locked in washroom areas for safety reasons. This facility uses a chip in a watch, necklace or pendant for additional security for their residents. Hospice care is available through ALC, music therapy and massage therapy as well. At night residents are looked in on every 2 hours and motion detectors also alert caregivers. Fire drills are done with residents as caregivers take them to the exits. [name removed] was unable to confirm how often the fire drills were done. [name removed] also could not answer what the nurses duties were and you would have to speak to the nurse. Your family member would use their own furniture at this facility - maintenance setups up room. There is an incontinence care program for $400 a month which would cover wipes, liners, etc.

I would still recommend them

We chose Grace Point Place Memory Care because when I initially started looking, covid had not started yet. I really liked them because they seemed to focus a lot of memory loss and dementia. They were one of the few places that strongly stated they would be able to handle my husbands type 1 diabetes. My husbands medical condition changed once he arrived and his behaviors changed, so they were not able to handle his problems he began to display. I do have to say that overall, the staff here were very nice and helpful. A lot of the staffing issues we had were related to the virus. I also have to give high marks to the previous executive director here, she was fantastic and she was very professional and did her job very well. It is a good facility, but I do think they have been hindered by the virus. If your loved one has just dementia, I think they will do just fine here.

Just Like Home

It is an overall small community where the residents get all the care and attention they need. They have a good ratio of caregiver to resident. They have good communication. Food is good. They have lots of space for residents to walk safely and they have a secure outdoor space for them to use as well.
