I would say it's a typical assisted living facility. There was a constant change in the staff. The Director would say one thing to me and something completely different to my mother. It was difficult to get the Director to communicate with my mother via email. He preferred to send me emails rather than my mother. Exactly 30 days before her one year anniversary, the financial person sent me a very confusing email regarding a rent increase. When I told the Director he had to communicate with my mother, since she was the resident, he simply ignored me. They were proposing a rent increase of 15%. When I asked why, the Director said, "because we can." They went weeks between cleaning her room and then said it was her fault for not reporting it to the office. The food wasn't good. They were ALWAYS slow to respond when she pressed her alert button. Several times I had to call them to get them to go check on her. She actually moved out on [date removed]and moved in with my sister.

Colonial Oaks has very helpful staff that goes above and beyond. Starting with the front desk lady up to [name removed]. The experience has been great. We as a family feel very comfortable with our grandmother under their care.

I searched and visited senior living homes for a couple months and so happy that I found Colonial Oaks Campbell Park! I was looking for a place where my Mom would be motivated to socialize more and this is the place! Mom is very very happy now! We enjoyed the family Valentine Brunch! She enjoys many of the weekly activities, loves the food and she’s thrilled to have meal options. (Thanks Chef [name removed]!) [name removed] at Colonial Oaks was sooo helpful in making this happen for our family! The caregivers are extremely attentive and treat residents with the utmost respect. The rooms are cleaned regularly and sheets are changed weekly. (These are things that did not happen at her last place.) The common areas and grounds are beautiful, mom also loves sitting outdoors in the atrium on nice days. Tyler, the Executive Director is very attentive to the residents and responsive to our needs and questions. Highly recommend this Colonial Oaks for your loved one!!

Searching for a memory care option that best suited the needs of our Mom with Advanced Dementia has been extremely stressful and emotionally taxing. [name removed] at Colonia Oaks helped make that process easier! We LOVED our tour. The community grounds were beautiful, but more importantly, the caregivers we observed were engaged and warm towards all the residents. Relocating our mom to Texas posed to be too much of a challenge, but if we could’ve, we would’ve chosen Colonial Oaks. Highly recommend exploring this community in your search of care options for your loved one!!

There is new staff weekly. New management took over around October and things have gone downhill since. The new manager is not working out. They raised the rate by $[removed] after one year.

The experience has been pretty good; food isn't great, communication lacking. We picked this community because of the price, location, services offered, and facility layout.

They have a lot of activities to keep their residents engaged if they choose. Such as exercise, games, singing old hymns, etc. They food has been really good but we heard they just lost their chef a week or so ago. Don't know how this will change. They have a nice dining area and allow my kids to eat with her at anytime. Location for us since it's a block from our house.

Stay away. The ENTIRE management staff was replaced at the end of October with zero notice to residents. The NEW staff is horrible. When it comes to the residents, they treat them as if it's a parochial school and not an assisted living facility. They give you one "warning" about a resident needing to make an adjustment to their lifestyle. If the resident doesn't do it on the Staff's timeline, they give you 30 days notice and don't want to deal. What was one of the best facilities is now junk in terms of the management staff. It's clear they only care about the bottom line and NOT the residents whom they are supposed to be caring for.

We picked this community because, of the high ratings and references, who spoke with high regards. Also, the location was a factor. I would tell other families, to make sure that they stay on top of things if there is any issues and make sure they are resolved. Overall, I am very pleased that mom likes the facillity, and has adjusted well.

Lovely staff, needs updating, and they had small rooms.
Response from Colonial Oaks Senior Living at Campbell Park
February 16, 2022We are one of the newer communities in the area, and while we can appreciate you felt the rooms were small, we want our residents mingling throughout our spacious community enjoying our vast array of amenities. Our services and amenities are second to none and we have so much to offer our residents. Please take a closer look at our dining and activities and reconsider. Thank you for your feedback!
Our family had an in person tour and we did not care for it at all. They told us they prefer families do not come to visit their loved ones after 6pm=7pm at night and we did not like that. We also did not see any residents on our tour and the assured us they had plenty of activities but we just did not see much engagement going on. Also the staffing did not seem very adequate.
Moved my father in to transition loss of wife. Within 3 days got a phone call from director that she was going to call the police because my dad was being irrational and threatening. I call him and he’s upset but didn’t sound threatening as she stated. He was upset that his medications never arrived and this is an extra charge that he was paying for so yes, I would agree that one should receive them in a timely fashion. Food was always subpar. The housekeeper always shrank his clothes with every wash. He was independent to be able to leave but you can’t leave without someone entering a code. Much like a prison. And it’s a month later and I am still waiting for refund and no one answers my calls or messages.

Our family had an in person tour and we weren't able to move our parents in because we needed a double room and they only had single rooms.
Initially I was expecting them to provide a bit more, which I now realize would be more of a nursing home level of care. They're more supervisory, and they help our loved one eat and things like that. As a memory care unit, they're really good at navigating emotional outbursts and things that occur with dementia. So for people with dementia who are up and about and just need a little bit of assistance, it's a good place.
The food was not nutritious, and she has received a dinner consisting of, a couple of slices of processed meat crackers, pudding, and a celery stalk. The staff that interacted with my sister were minimally trained and turnover was very high. I would not recommend this community to others.

Colonial Oaks is like one big family. The staff sincerely cares for the residents and helps provide a loving environment filled with activities and enrichment, which gives the residents purpose. Colonial Oaks works with the family members of the residents in order to provide the best medical care possible. Also, during Covid-19, they have ensured the safety of all residents. We feel blessed to have found Colonial Oaks for our mom.
