We went with Monarch at Richardson because the location works out really well for my brother who lives close by. They keep her busy throughout the day in the memory care unit. They play games, do exercise classes, read to them, etc. She has a personal room and it is a nice size. The only negative is that they have lost almost everything of hers even though they are all labeled, so it would be nice if they could keep track of her personal items.... Read more

About the facility Monarch at Richardson

The Monarch at Richardson is a senior living community offering assisted living and memory care services in Richardson, Texas. Our staff have been dedicated to providing genuine, compassionate, and exceptional services to residents for over 15 years. We understand that quality services and professional staff can be difficult to come by, and at The Monarch, we’ve made it our mission to make residents and their loved ones feel sure they’re in the best hands.

We’ve developed and administered two, distinct programs for our assisted living and memory care lifestyles that personalize the daily routines of residents, enabling everyone in our community to thrive in their own way. We know that caring for residents in memory care and assisted living is not a one size fits all system, and with our program Salus by Solvere (derived from the Latin word for “well-being”), we’ve adopted a wellness philosophy tailored individual residents so they may thrive physically, socially, intellectually, and spiritually.

Our specialized program Valeo (derived from the Latin, meaning “to thrive”) offers programming designed specifically for residents with memory impairments such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. We are proud of our community, staff, and convenient amenities that complement and sustain the grace...

Our families experience

My dad was moved into Memory Care. They had a TV blaring at a high volume constantly. There was not a quiet place for him to go except his room. Also on the weekends the staffing is questionable. My dad got very sick & they called me. He had fallen out of his bed & he needed to go to the hospital. They had called the paramedics but they said he wasn't injured. He was actually very sick with the flu but they didn't catch that. He was extremely dehydrated & I called an ambulance once there which was totally necessary. He looked terrible. I actually thought he was dead when I went to his room. He was sitting in a chair by himself with his eyes closed. The Assisted Living side is better. I would give them a 4. Both my parents have passed away so these are not good memories. There were a lot of very nice people working there. Not a bad place. Memory Care is challenging anywhere.

Good Spot for Your Loved Ones

They have lots of activities for the residents to participate in if they choose to. This would be a good place for your loved ones to go to. The cleanliness, convenience, and friendliness stand out to me about the community.

My Review

Firstly I must say that the staff were outstanding and very friendly. I was greeted by everyone I passed. The community is beautiful a 'must see'. They have a lovely Bluebonnet walking trail and I know I saw bunnies and squirrels hopping along. I would add one more star if I could!

They have made the experience for my mom from independent living to assisted living as good as they could have

The staff members are so friendly and they are so caring to the residents. Our mother really enjoys the meals and dining service and mingling with the other residents. We have no complaints so far, and one of the best things about the Monarch is that they have a beautiful porch our loved one can sit out. Also the physical therapist takes the residents to the park close by to get them out and about.

Good Place to Consider

It has been a really positive experience. They've been really understanding with everything and helped as best they could. It has been just what Dad needed at the time. It's an older but homey facility, and they keep it really clean. He looked at another place that was brand new, and he felt like he couldn't even walk on the floors because it was so new. He feels much more at home here. He tells me that the food is good, and the apple pie that I tied was really good.

Highly recommend it

We have been very impressed with everything so far. The staff are very caring and seem to really know our loved one. They are very attentive to her. At first we thought this was a skilled nursing community because they have nurses there 24/7, but it is not. The care is great, but if you are looking for a skilled nursing community, this is not the place. The cleanliness of the community is excellent. They are really good about keeping our loved one's room clean and always having the bed made, which is very encouraging. Our loved one has gained some weight since being there, so we have to assume the meals are very good. And they keep the residents very busy with a ton of activities. We just love the Monarch.

Very nice front runner for us. Has a down home folksy feel to it, and the landscaping was gorgeous with green trees and grass. More reasonably priced with all the amenities that you get.

Beware of memory care

We have had two family members join this community, one was on the assisted living and the other was in the memory care. The assisted living is great, the memory care is not. The staff is very nice, cooperative and will try to work with you the best they can. I would shy away from memory care if your loved one has advanced dementia. If your loved one doesn't fit the mold of mild dementia they do not work with you. The assisted living is fine, they were very loving and passionate towards our loved one. We felt that they were getting a high level of care in assisted living. they have been very diligent following COVID restrictions. Non of the residents have had COVID, they have done a very good job with cleaning and keeping the residents safe.
