Our mother was there about 3 years. Originally was ok but went downhill after about 7 months. They didn't clean the sheets for weeks; stopped making her bed. Trash overflowing on the floor and moldy food on the kitchenette counter. I discovered they falsified her medications records for almost a week, and even had the nurse that quit openly admit it to me. Talking to the site director was like talking to a wall. In addition to that, she had several items stolen from her room, including a large supply of toilet paper, back when there was a shortage of it because of the pandemic.

I have visited my friend at various times of the day and week. The halls are silent. The activity room seldom has anyone in there participating in activities. There is no evident stimulation, musical or social, no art lessons, no brain games, no social worker visiting residents at meals or in their apartments. My friend is very lonely as she moves into dementia. It would seem that, for the substantial cost of living here, more daily activities should be scheduled.

Mom has been in this facility for nearly 3 years. We've watched it slowly spiral downward. They rarely have activities other than bingo and board games. Hardly ever have entertainment when they used to have performers at least teice a month. Housekeeping is so bad, I had to grab a friend to help me clean and disinfect Mom's room, bathroom, and kitchenette. Last Sunday, she became ill with the stomach virus going around the facility. Today, 1 full week later, we had to clean dried vomit off her bathroom wall, toilet, floor, and 2 trashcans. I'm appalled that no one had cleaned her room. No wonder this virus spread through the entire place!! We cleaned her entire apartment in 2 hours. We should not have had to do this. I even had to empty all 3 trashcans that were overflowing from yesterday. It used to not be like this. Shame on the head of Discovery Commons. You make enough money to hire more than 1 housekeeper. You can afford to pay your Aides (who by the way are the backbone of a good facility!) what they deserve for taking such loving care of your residents!! Seriously, these dedicated Aides make less than employees of Target, Walmart, and Kroger! Shame on you, Discovery Commons for not delivering the kind of amenities you brag about on your Web page.

We love having my In-laws here at Rittenhouse they are so happy here. The food is amazing and everyone is so helpful. The caregivers are nice and caring. They have lots of activities but they are still warming up to a new home. The courtyard area is really nice and as soon as it gets cooler they will sit outside. I give them 4.5 stars and would recommend this place to my friends.

I toured this community for my sister, and her needs. Everyone was nice to my family, and I. The community was nice, and clean. They staff was friendly, and helpful. Our questions were answered, and everything went well. It was not the facility for my sister, but our tour went well overall.

I have no complaints of how things went for my tour of this community recently. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. I thought they had a nice layout for the residents as well as amenities. It was just not the right location in the end decision for her but I would recommend it to anyone.

My dad is doing extremely well here. There is a good ratio between females and males which are nice. He is making a lot of friends which is an improvement he has never been one to socialize a lot. The verbal communication could be better we have some issues that still have not been worked out due to anything being put in writing only verbalized. However, the staff has been extremely kind and helpful and patient. I like their pricing structure works one level one fee not based on tiering like other communities. Dad really enjoys the food he is eating a lot. The location is great very close to my brother

The employees are friendly, helpful and encouraging. Mom enjoys participating in some of the daily activities. She does not always like the food and sometimes it takes a long time to be served. She thinks they are understaffed in the kitchen and dining room areas. The community areas are clean and in good condition. Mom likes having a patio on the backside of her apartment.

The facility looks great, but the staff and supervision of the staff was inadequate and so was the care/assistance. Much of the staff was untrained and/or lazy and there was a lot of turnover. There was not much for mom to do but play cards or do puzzles which she is not in to. There were constant issues with no hot water for bathing and it always took forever in the evenings for anyone to come help her. The helpers were always on break or helping someone else so they were very understaffed. Pick another place for your mom.

It's been sort of average for us so far. It's beautiful, but I definitely have concerns. We have had several issues with the medication distributions. There have been issues with the room, and after reporting it several times, it is finally fixed. The food is awful. One of the things we noticed when we toured, was that the residents seem very non-expressive. They have addressed my concerns, and are working on it, but it hasn't been very smooth so far. I liked the location for us, and how easy it is to get there, and my loved one seems determined to make it work.

Talked to Jacki. We talked about a place for my husband. I think the conversation was very enlightening. Their system of care was I think very well thought out and helpful at time would demand.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. I thought Winters Park seemed like a nice place overall! The people I met were friendly, the facility was attractive, and the price was right.

This is a terrible facility. My dad was there for 7 days and we could not find him another place fast enough. Never will use again

Horrible !! The facility has gone downhill in the past six months. Almost all of the Memory Care staff are new and lack knowledge about caring for someone with dementia (as demonstrated by their behavior). Our mother was seriously injured and they could not tell us actually what happened. During the last facility family meeting we discovered episodes of horrible staffing and lack of supervision. We moved Mom, but not in time to spare her from pain. The employees there should be ashamed. I wouldn't even give them a 1/2 star but the website requires it.

My step dad was only in Winters Park Memory Care for a week. They had some problems with him,he was able to slip out even though there was a code to go in and out and one of the workers saw him and brought him back.He also had some anger problems in late afternoon. They really tried to deal with him but asked us to take him to the hospital and have him evaluated. He is still in the hospital.Winters Park is a very good Nursing home. Now my mother is trying to get him in Veterans Hospital or something less expensiive

My sister has been in Winters Park Assisted Living in Garland, TX for about a year and a half. It is real clean and everything is good except for the nursing staff and the doctor that comes to the facility. I asked the head nurse back in January to reduce my sisters medicine since she was taking enough to kill a horse. She said she would contact the doctor. I didn't hear anything else, and didn't keep tabs of medicines they were ordering from the pharmacy. She became very ill and was having diarrhea due to too many antidepressants and because they were giving her too much of the diuretics causing her to become anemic. Two different times when she asked to see the doctor, the nurse did not tell the doctor. Finally I had to tell them she needed to see the doctor, because the nurse took it upon herself to decide had she did not need to see the doctor. The doctor saw her and took a blood test to find out that her kidneys were failing. They almost waited too long. The facility did not believe she had diarrhea and the nurse said rather hateful things about her. She said she was always asking for medicine, but she did not ask for all those diuretics nor did she ask for her medicine to be doubled. I had told them in a nice way to stop the diuretics and reduce the other medicine, but instead they doubled all of it. I took her to a kidney doctor to find out that her blood pressure was 82/62. When the kidney doctor saw she was taking so many diuretics, he ordered Winters Park to cease giving them to her, but they didn't because the kidney doctor's office called and asked me if they were giving her more medicine because her kidney levels had risen from the time of her first visit. They called the doctor, but still the Winter’s Park did not take her off them, because when I confronted them about doubling her medicine I find out they were still giving them to her three times a week. The manager apparently has no intention of firing this inept ignorant, vindictive nurse. All I know is that they will get a big lawsuit one of these days for killing one of the patients. The nurse is dangerous and I don't recommend this facility to anyone. The house keeping is not that great in the rooms either.
