Overall experience is a 4 it would be a 5, but after my dad passed away in November, Bickford still withdrew payment for December!! I had to go to my bank to get that money back. And it took over 5 months to get a refund for the remainder of November. I had to call and call and call. Finally I had to tell them I would get my attorney involved if I didn't get the refund immediately. Activities, can't rate because my dad never wanted to participate in any. He just liked to sit in his room and watch TV. A couple months after we agreed on a monthly rate and my dad moved in, they increased his rate, citing increasing costs, so a little bit of a disappointment there. So overall, as far as my dad received, and how he was treated and how he liked it there, I'd give Bickford a 5. I just didn't like the way they handled their business office concerning the money.... Amy Orlando was so gracious and flexible in accommodating my Dad's needs. All the staff we met was very friendly. Bickford did all they could to fast track his move in and make the transition as easy for us as possible.

My sister and I checked out many residences for our mom before we decided on the Bickford of St. Charles, Il. The staff there was very friendly and informative when we toured the facility. The place is very clean and feels like an elegant but comfortable home with lots of open gathering spaces and a number of cozy fireplaces. The dining room is decorated very comfortably and each resident is given a menu to choose their meals from. The floor plans for each apartment are roomy and laid out for the convenience of the person living there. The fact that you bring your own furniture to your apartment makes it feel more like home. The rooms have big, bright windows that allow a lot of natural light to enter your space. Housekeeping and laundry service are also provided witch makes it easy for your loved one to live hassle free. Our mom has only been here for two weeks and she is having a few problems with adjusting to her new surroundings but the staff is helping her with that. She is 89 years old and until now has lived on her own. She also has some dementia so things are a little difficult for her, but my sister and I are sure we made the best choice for our moms health, safety, and well being by choosing the Bickford.

A Place for Mom has scored Bickford of St. Charles 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
