Loving and caring staff

Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. From staff to other residents. From day one I could tell my grandfather's well being was the number one concern. Staff are loving and caring, welcoming him into "their" family. Berkshire is clean and home like. Nothing fancy but we feel like home here. The furniture and furnishings could be updated but all in all not too bad. Staff are always willing to answer questions and help out when needed. Food is basic but lots of options.... Read more

I dont know what I would have done without Berkshire commons. The entire team here are always so helpful and they treat my brother very well. My brother says the food is great and he can have as much as he wants. I wish they had more staff because the people work very hard

The staff that take care of us are just great. The food is fair, I feel the combinations need work, it is always clean and nice. I feel the caregivers work very hard. I don't think there is another place we could be that we would get this great care!

Such a Caring Place

The staff make taking care of their residents their top priority. They are absolutely amazing! I know when I leave my loved one at the end of the day that they are in great hands. They are always doing fun and entertaining activities. Thank you to the staff for continuing to be there for my family during the pandemic. You are all amazing.

Friendly, interactive, and caring staff! Love this place!

Friendly, interactive, and caring staff. The array of amenities and services offered is extensive and would make any resident happy to be part of a great community of professionals! The attention given to the recent pandemic just illustrates how each of the staff members at Berkshire Commons feels about their residents - they treat each resident like their own family and their care is second to none!

Caring facility

Sounding in once again. My mom passed October coming on two years. We had no choice but to get her everyday nursing care. We visited or took her out almost every day for three years. I wanted no regrets. Staff was mostly stellar. They have a lot on their plates. Maybe family should want to supplement their loved ones care. Same staff the entire three years. That is amazing and says a lot about the facility. I feel she was truly blessed as were we!

I thank god for Berkshire Center. Maybe those who leave reviews should have been involved on an every day basis. The staff was amazing and involved. The crnp is stellar. They were like an extended family. Every once in a while there was a blip but was remedied. Were present unbelievably at her end of life. So thankful for the Berkshire center staff. Not sure about the genesis healthcare corporation.

Look elsewhere

My mother was placed here for therapy after a fall. She stayed for two weeks before being discharged to home. After ten days, I was given the admission packet of information regarding her stay. She never received a menu to select her own meals, despite two separate requests. I made sure to take her laundry home to wash myself, rather than deal with lost clothing. When I took her to a doctor appointment, no one bothered to get a wheelchair to transport her to my car. I had to go downstairs to the lobby and borrow one. Most of the time, she was left to do her own care. Her room mate did not fare much better. Having worked in a nursing home thirty years ago, I can say that the care has not improved over the years. In fact, the ratio of caregivers to patients is worse than it was then. I do not recommend this facility for rehab. Look elsewhere.

Not as good as it used to be.

The facility isn't is good as it was when my mother moved in in 2010. They have a new chef, the food isn't as good, staff turnover is high so service isn't as good, and especially checking on the whereabouts of residents if they don't show you for meals is poor. Activities are only marginal. The only excursion is to Hollywood Casino. Really? No cultural excursions. (They do take residents shopping on Mondays.) For what she pays, if she were younger I'd start looking elsewhere.

Bad place

My mother in law lives there. She fell twice, once when in the presence of an aide, out of bed! Their cleaning staff not good at all. Her clothes are always lost. The toilet had a black ring around bowl. The aides are nice but do not help her brush her teeth or remember each time you tell them to help her. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE THERE!

Good Care

I think the care that they are giving my father is good. Certain care at the facility did not occur initially until I prompted them about it however, they now seem to be very proactive. My father likes the food and appears content. All the caregivers are pleasant and willing to assist with anything requested. The facility clean with great amenities.

My Mom and Dad have been he...

My Mom and Dad have been here since Feb 2013. Dad has gotten worse...they say he is confrontational and aggressive. I must now hire a person to sit with Dad from 10AM to 9PM every day. The facility does not have the staff(in number or properly trained) to handle Dad. I may have to move my Dad.

A Place for Mom has scored Berkshire Commons 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
