We are very pleased with the care my loved one receives during periods of respite care. I put n/a for#6 because she does not participate in activities. That is on her not the activities or staff. At the point we determine she needs assisted living care full time very highly likely would place her at Belvedere Commons.... Read more

My loved one is currently a resident at Belvedere Commons of Franklin and everything has been great for her at this facility so far. The staff all really care about the residents. They have gone above and beyond for my mother, my family, and all of their residents there. The move in process could not have gone better. I would recommend this facility to anyone. We are so happy and so is my mother.

October 3, 2023Thank you for your review. We are so happy to hear that your mother-in-law is enjoying life at Belvedere!
We have been coming in and out of Belvedere Commons of Franklin for awhile, we are always greeted by someone with a smile and are ready to help us. We have seen the staff interacting with the residents and the residents seem happy and content. I see them playing games especially Rummiku. All the residents look well cared for. I haven’t tried the food but I asked the residents how the food is, they say that it is much better than before. I would bring my loved one here to live. I hope this review will help you if you are looking for a place for your loved one.

Response from Belvedere Commons of Franklin
October 3, 2023Thank you so much for your review. We couldn't do what we do without our exceptional community partners.
Our family had a terrible experience related to safety, cleanliness, and overall care. My husband was able to get out of facility twice. Housekeeping was negligible was odor of urine throughout! The care an services provided were grossly misrepresented from the start. For starters, he was able to get out twice. Once due to gate left open and unattended. The director actually saw him walking outside in front of facility headed to Royal Parkway. On another occasion, he was brought back to Belvedere by a nice couple who saw him walking on Royal PKW and knew something was wrong. It could have ended badly. Food portions were small and cold. I was told he would be assisted eating. Only one of the aides did that. She worked nights and I can't remember name. I took food myself almost every day and left snacks. Prominent smell of urine throughout facility causing feet to stick to floor. The toilet in the commons areas was beyond nasty with excrement and urine. I was told he would have some type of physical activity. That did not happen. One of us (children or myself) were there every day at different times. I realize he had Alzheimer's and might not be able to do group activities, but was told he would get 1 on 1 stimulation during the week. Difficult to get information. I was told I could call and check on him. Seldom did anyone answer...especially at night. It was equally difficult to reach director or nurse for information. One nurse spoke very little English. We were in process of locating another facility when a UTI sent him to [name removed] and thankfully a spot opened at [community name removed] where he received quality care. Interestingly, [community name removed] cost comparison with Belvedere was negligible. Very short staff. 1 person on duty at night. It was a nightmare experience. I don't understand how it has remained open.

June 9, 2023Our corporate team would love to further discuss these concerns. Please give us a call at 239-292-1513.
It's an old building with old issues that I am certain are expensive. plumbing (toilet flushing) was an issue. A/C units old and didn't cool when room door was closed. Maybe these things were on a list to get replaced as they were putting in new floors and repainting when we moved in in [date removed]. It was nice the helpers came by every room before meals to let them have time to get up front. It was affordable so I understand budget.

June 9, 2023Thank you so much for your feedback. We can certainly take a look at the room AC unit to ensure it is cooling well. Please reach out to our corporate team at aharwood@opalsl.com so we can take care of this.
All of the staff seems to be fairly friendly at Belvedere Commons of Franklin. I feel like there should be more activities that include everyone. They probably need more Aides. My loved one's room is cleaner than it's ever been. I've eaten with him once and I thought it was tasty. He says the food is bad. I feel like he just doesn't want to eat. So far I'm pleased and would recommend this facility to others.

April 28, 2023Debbie, Thank you so much for allowing us to care for your loved one. It was our pleasure to care for them.
My father lived at Belvedere for 9 months in their Memory Care facility. I would not recommend placing a loved on at Belvedere as we had too many issues with the level of care provided. Hopefully my review will help other families with their search. In spring of 2022, Belvedere Commons was purchased by Opal, prior to that it was owned by Grace Mgmt. After Opal's purchase, they cut nursing hours without formally notifying the residents and their families in writing and many of the staff and nurses have left. The management makes promises but does not follow through. My father fell during the middle of the night and no aide was given to him. He had a cut on his head and they didn't call 911 or have him sent out for evaluation. They didn't notify me. I had to take him to the ER the next morning when I arrived and found blood on his head and on the floor. No one contacted me.. There are many issues at Belvedere and the management team isn't transparent with the families.

My family toured 5 assisted living/memory care facilities for our sister and it was the STAFF and CLEANLINESS of Belvedere Commons that made our decision...Although the building is dated, it is clean, the kitchen where they prepare meals is clean and the staff...they genuinely care and there are plenty of them around to help our sister and us, when needed. We are so pleased to have been able to join their family and have them join us. I would recommend Belvedere Commons to any family in search of a facility such as this.

February 3, 2023Adrienne, We are so thankful to have you be a part of our community. It means so much to us when a family is pleased. We will continue to strive to meet and exceed your expectations. Warmest Regards, From your Belvedere Commons Family
The day to day staff and the staff that are taking care of our loved ones are just excellent, and while the community is not dirty by any means there is still a little of cleanliness improvement. The meals and dining are reasonable. They are struggling with staffing just like everybody else, and management at the moment just seems to have a lack of compassion.

Our family had an in person tour and Belvedere was kind of old and needed lots of attention. The carpets were terrible. It was less expensive than most, so that's better at least. The staff was nice.
We chose Belvedere commons at the time because of the cost, it was really great when we first moved in but there have been ups and downs. We are in the flux of a lot of change and they just got bought out which is the reason I gave it a 3. We have lost our activities director so we do not have much going on at all. As far as I am concerned the care is fine. it is clean and they do their best. I am satisfied with the experience overall.

I visited with the team and staff at Belvedere Commons of Franklin, had very high hopes just did not seem like those would be met for the individualized care that was need for my loved one. Very nice place just not right fit for our family.
They didn't do anything they said they were going to do. They have a good spiel they'll give you, but they don't follow through.

I would not recommend Belvedere Commons of Franklin to others for their loved ones. They didn't have enough staff. In fact, there were times I couldn't find a staff member to answer a question, especially in the memory care unit. It was very difficult to have a conversation via phone or email, it was a little better if the conversation was done in person. The number I would call would ring into the assisted living area, and then a staff member from assisted living, would have to leave and go to the memory care unit in another building to find the answer out for me. My loved one was able to leave the community after being moved to the memory care due to construction workers leaving a door open. There was another staff member that caught my loved one and was able to get my loved one back in to the community, and called me to inform me of this. I overall was very displeased with the experience. The community always had an unpleasant smell to it. The bathroom in my loved one's room was never really clean and the toilet wouldn't flush. Some of the caregivers I couldn't understand very well due to a heavy accent. The only way I would recommend the community is for the assisted living portion and if your loved one was able to assist with their own care.

Things are going well so far. Overall the staff seems to really care about their residents and many of them have a lengthy tenure here which is comforting. On the other hand, the facility itself is a bit outdated. They were recently purchased by another company and they are supposed to be making some enhancements to the facility to update it. The value is definitely there and I feel like my father is getting good care, there are just some improvements that I think they could make.
