Amoroso Wellness at York

Like all nursing homes these days I am aware of maintaining staff and overall costs. It is issue for the nursing home and assisted living facilities all over our area. Amoroso Wellness has worked through this. I find the staff helpful and patient with my family member. The lobby is always well kept and changes decorations according to holidays and seasons which helps the mood. In general the rooms are cleaned weekly and carpets get updated. There are times when I have carrying in items and they me coming to the door and take items from me and take them to [name removed] room for me. They are helpful and accommodating. They are generally pleasant though busy. They transport wheelchair bound patients to appointments. They family up to date on eye care, foot care, etc. Call to report any falls even when there is no sign of any injury. Of course, call ambulance when necessary. They have a nurse on premises 24/7. They are attentive to changes in patients moods and try to resolve the issues. These seem to better then expected. They even send breakfast to rooms at request without charge. The dining room is nice. They provide good meals and choice. They provide daily activities and have special events, such as veteran acknowledgement. They special speakers on local history and other subjects. Unfortunately, [name removed] does not participate though staff always try to get him involved. I toured three assisted living facilities in my area, and found best cost. Especially, considering the appearance, cleanliness, and overall services provided. I would recommend Amoroso Wellness at York

When my Mom first moved in there she was welcomed and the food activities were great. She had a bowel obstructions a year after being there needed ostomy care. It was all very new to them not many nursing assistants knew how to dump a bag let alone change the whole unit. We had some issues but the medical director asked us to make a video at the ostomy center to share and train all that worked there. They had an ipad available in my moms room for any ro change. Which i thought was a great idea. In march this past year my Mom found out she had colon cancer she needed extra care and had more problems the last few months until we had hospice called in to help with her care. They were all attached to my Mom and the last few days of her life we found out how much they truly loved my Mom and still miss her too. They stayed by her side with my brother and I to help make her transition easier for us all which we were thankful for. And they were there for the residents who grieved for my Mom after her passing.

Amoroso Wellness is less expensive than other facilities. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They offer lots of options to occupy the time.

[name removed] has adjusted well. Food is excellent, staff very helpful and they keep the clients busy with the help of an excellent activity director. We love having [name removed] there, but unfortunately we probably will have to be looking for another home in 6 months or so as the money is dwindling.

Our move in and first several months after were marred by a breakdown in communication and cooperation in getting my mother permission to handle her own medication. The facility is well kept and the surrounding grounds are nice. Mom loves the food. Her quality of care is just okay and activities could be improved

All are a 5 and my Aunt just loves this place. She always is telling me I did a good job finding Amoroso! Yes I would recommend this community to other families. The staff is very friendly and they call my Aunt, [name removed]. She is treated like family.

My father has dementia. After 2 years at another facility, we ran into issues where my father ended up in the ER about twice a week. After moving him to Amoroso, we couldn't be happier. My father is interacting socially. The staff know him as a person. The staff is very responsive and communicative with the family. I wish we had started with Amoroso from the beginning. I highly recommend them.

It is less expensive then other facilities but suboptimal level of care. They need more staff in memory care. Activities in memory care are limited. Really important for families to advocate for their loved ones in memory care and visit their loved ones often. The limited staff can only do so much. I do appreciate that families could come any time of day or night. It's the leadership there that needs to set the tone.

Staff are really friendly but when asked were there other ppl of color at the facility I was told yes. Which my parent is the only black person living there. It's the staff that are persons of color. Which is a bit misleading. Also staff underestimated how independent my parent was and how active he is. Which was concerning. Now they figured it out. I guess they had to see it in action rather than hearing it. Lovely Facility Would Recommend

The staff are responsive and caring. I would recommend this facility to others.

It was the overall vibe that came from the place.Everyone knew everyone else. Called each other by name. Numerous services like laundry and taking patients to the cafeteria etc.

I recommend the facility. I visited several in the area and this one seemed to be the right one for my mother. It's very clean and no odors. The food is delicious and the residents have choices. The staff is personable and kind. They provide transportation to appointments, which is included in the monthly fee. They have taken her to several appts all on time and medications given correctly. Communication with the family has been good. While no place is perfect, Amaroso is awesome with working with us to resolve any glitches. The room is a good size with two closets. The environment is positive. My mother has improved since her stay at Amaroso. She has become a permanent resident.

The care. She ended up with 3 bed sores one of which, if we hadn't taken her to the doctor when we did. They probably would have done nothing for her at that point. And we knew nothing about it I wouldn't take an animal there

I have nothing bad to say about Amoroso. The staff was as polite as they can be. They were very good to my father. A few of them went beyond their call of duty. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Amoroso again.

Amoroso provides a very welcoming homey feeling. It has been very good for my mom, and she feels at home there now A Place for Mom was so very helpful and knowledgeable in helping us find Amoroso. No pressure, just there to help.

We would recommend this community to other families, whenever there is a change in medication with our loved one or updated regarding covid they always give us a call so we appreciate their communication. We have not had a meal there ourselves, but our loved one seems to be happy with the food. They do go down to the dining hall to eat which we like - it helps keep our loved one mobile and helps with socialization. They do have activities and we like that they do not make the residents feel pressured into doing them - you can see all the activities on a piece of paper by the elevator. We consider the value for the money to be very good. l

Very happy with our choice to move my mother into this facility. She has been commenting about the great food, lots of activities and all the help she gets daily. Also told me she doesnt sit around watch TV all day like she used too. Made many new friends and loves being social with everyone. Very happy and best choice for us all. And communication between nurses and family is great also regarding medicine.
