Alvernia Manor Senior Living

When you first enter the building you are greeted by a friendly person who can answer any question you may have. Everywhere you go everything is pristine throughout the building. The nurses are very helpful to answer any questions about your loved one. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Many choices of activities to participate during the day. The rooms are comfortable and are kept very clean. Our mother gets up a few times during the night to use the restroom. She presses the call button and someone comes quick to help her, She feels very comfortable she says just like home. The food is also great. We are very happy we chose Alvernia for our mother. It is truly a hidden gem.

My mother had a stroke and she still has aphasia. Part of her concern was that she was being treated as if she were a child by some of the staff. She was unhappy about this and ended up wanting to leave, so we, against my better judgment, took her out. The staff there was really outstanding though for the most part. My main feedback to them though is that people with brain injuries still need to be treated like adults.

Alvernia Manor is not a memory care facility. They have nothing in place if person with memory issues wanders out of the building. This is more of an assisted living facility.

Spoke to Pat on Friday - may need more than 'sheltered living' and more like assisted living. Pat was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Lovely setting!!!!! Director was very friendly and informative. I appreciate the time we spent together discussing my mom's needs. However, at this time, there is no way that my mom would consider a small dorm room for an apartment with the bath/shower down the main hall.
