It has been an okay experience for my friend here at this community. The community is well maintained, they do a good job with the cleaning. The staff is lovely, they have been kind and helpful. Assisted living communities provide residential communities and assistance to seniors who may require support with everyday activities such as washing or dressing. Assisted living communities commonly offer opportunities for organized activity, support with the activities of daily life, and assistance with transportation and appointments. In select instances, communities may offer respite, hospice, or continuing care. Wisconsin maintains a number of provisions related to this type of community. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Bureau of Assisted Living, Division of Quality Assurance, regulates community-based residential communities (CBRFs) supervises this community type. Staff members receive training in a number of subjects. These include: first-aid, challenging behaviors, standard precautions, and fire safety. Public assistance is available through The Elderly and Physically Disabled 1915(c) Waiver program, the Community Options 1915(c) Waiver program, and the Medicaid managed care 1915(b)(c) Family Care Waiver program for the aged and physically disabled. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include including personal care, supervision, independent living skills, and health monitoring. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide at least three nutritious meals a day and a nutritious snack, therapeutic diets must be provided if ordered by a physician, these meals must meet the recommended dietary allowances based on current dietary guidelines for Americans, and these meals must meet residents special dietary needs. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include when medication administration is not supervised by an RN, practitioner, or pharmacist, the CBRF must arrange for a pharmacist to package and label a resident’s prescription medications in unit dose, Residents may self-administer medications if they are capable, and If the medication administration is supervised by a licensed healthcare professionall, the community must ensure that these individuals coordinate the medication administration process and system. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as the plan must specify which program services will be provided to meet the resident’s needs as identified by the assessment and the frequency with which each service will be provided, initial comprehensive mental and physical assessment, community must develop a temporary service plan to meet immediate needs, and reassessments must be conducted at least annually, and when residents have a change in needs, abilities, or condition.
