The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and sweet to my parents. I don’t have to worry that they are not getting the level of care they deserve. The meals are also pretty basic, like ham and cheese sandwiches, sloppy joes etc. The facility is very small and the residents don’t seem to do many activities to keep them busy. But the price tag to stay here is less than half of everywhere else we looked. My parents are happy there which is what matters. So it’s definitely what you make of it.... Read more

For the value for cost I gave this rating because the facility is vintage and it is up there in cost compared to fancy facilities but care is of the utmost importance and that is a 5 at Burr Oak Manor. Yes, based on the experience we have had so far I would recommend this community to others and I already have

Highly recommend it. Because the care is excellent and they don't kick you out just because you are not Hospice eligible or go on Medicaid.

It's a great place to live. We are very happy with Mom's placement. She has more than a place to live, she has a home and we have an extension of our family.

The staff from top to bottom is outstanding. It is a very small community and the employee to resident ratio is very high. For example, at times there were six employees, on hand for 17 residents. The activities were good, in which they had plenty of them, and they also brought in entertainment. It helped bring my mother out of her shell. I would highly recommend them.

A wonderful family hired our care management company to review appropriate, assisted living communities for their mom. They were interested in bur oak I was told to speak with [name removed]. I could not get a return call. After prompting from the family, they did call me back and left a voicemail. I called immediately. I could not get a callback from the community. I attempted to put a complaint in because I could not reach [name removed]. I found out through the family that [she] is actually the owner. When I did finally speak to someone after months, I asked them why no one would return my call. She reported it was only phone tag. She told the family that they have attempted to call me many times which is untrue. This is slanderous and not good for my reputation. I am not sure what they are trying to hide

We chose Burr Oak Manor because of the friendliness of the staff and their caring attitude. Value for the money is a three because my Mom was only there less than a month and our deposit, 1st and last month's rent were kept. I think that if she's there less than a month, the last month deposit should be returned. We paid over $[removed] plus the $[removed]deposit.

The staff at Burr Oak Manor has just been wonderful - they have taken such great care of our loved one. They have gone above and beyond what we could of imaged and we are so grateful to have them. They are very outgoing and really solely focus on the residents. If our loved one does not want to go down to an activity, the activity coordinator [name removed] will go up to his room and play checkers with him, we really appreciate that one on one time she gives him. Based on our overall experience we would recommend this community to other families.

I thought Burr Oak Manor was really run down. The apartment that they offered was a basement apartment and was awful. The staff seemed very friendly, but the administrator was kind of rude. For studio apartments, they were very, very small. I was not impressed.
Burr Oak Manor is a wonderful home. they meet the residents needs, its the perfect place. the most caring home that I've decided on for my loved one.

I would highly recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The residents don't eat alone in their room. They engage the residents in new activities and are supported to continue the activities they like. There is a huge glass wall full of birds and this is a wonderful piece of outdoor nature brought inside for the residents to see.

WE chose Burr Oak Manor because it is a smaller facility, so I believe they get more 1 on 1 care rather than bigger facilities. It was also cheaper than some others we looked at in the area. They do send out letters periodically and anytime I have a question or concern I can call and talk to someone quickly. They are really good with the care, medications, and keeping in contact with family and I would recommend them.

We chose Burr Oak Manor because of the location as well as the value for the money. It is a smaller facility, only about 35 residents. Overall it has been a good experience so far and I would recommend them.

A huge Thank You to the staff at Burr Oak Manor. My parents were treated with respect and caring. The facilities are being constantly updated and is always clean and well kept. The activities are enjoyable and include everyone. Questions were answered very quickly if not immediately and visitors were always welcome. This is a top rate facility that is more like a loving home than a nursing facility. Thank you so much, the [name removed] family.

This facility has been very accommodating to ou mother, who has advanced Alzheimer's. It is a smaller facility and she doesn't have to wait for care. They try to make a it a family environment , where their personal rooms are their bedrooms but mingle the patients in various common areas during the day with various activities and games during the day.

Some great reviews but many negative reviews to give me confidence. Older building; problems with patients leaving the facility; understaffed; cold, bland food.

A few of the caregivers seem to actually care about our loved one. Our loved one does not get meds when they should. Some caregivers give the residents their meals, then disappear for hours! This facility needs more caregivers. Food is cold when served, A hot dog and Fritos are not homemade food. Do not recommend this facility.
