These provisions include reading the label, staff may take previously dispensed, properly labeled containers from where they are stored and bringing them to the resident, and unlicensed staff may assist residents with self-administration. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. Staff members receive training in a number of areas. These areas include 12 hours of continuing education every 2 years on topics related to assisted living, community sanitation procedures, infection control, and 26 hours of training plus a competency test. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with self-administration of medications, assistance with activities of daily living , personal care services, and nursing services.
