The staff in memory care is wonderful. I was not as impressed when Dad was in assisted living. It was great he stayed in the same apartment, but among other things there were staffing changes going on at the time we were moving Dad to assisted living and I had to follow up a lot or I felt he would have fallen through the cracks. My dad has lived at The Waters for about a year and we are on our 3rd medical director. I am hopeful the new one will stay. The director of the facility is friendly, but I feel he delegates my questions. This may be appropriate for his role, but I feel "put off" at times. The head chef in the restaurant is new. They serve a lot of chicken dishes. I don't know how much fresh fruit my dad gets so I try to bring that for him. Memory Care doesn't have a microwave or an ice maker, so that is inconvenient and the refrigerator in his room is dorm size, so the freezer is pretty much useless. We chose The Waters because of the location. The admission person, [name removed], is wonderful. The decor is bright and friendly. The ladies at the concierge desk, {names removed], are so welcoming, helpful and friendly.
My loved one was a resident at Frontida of Elkhorn. Everything was great for my loved one at this facility. The friendliness and cleanliness were great. The staff and quality of care was great also. I would recommend this facility to others.
We chose Heritage at Deer Creek because of the staff and the newness of the building as far as updates. And location especially. You do have to make sure things are getting done, sometimes things can slip through the cracks. Such as getting her bed made everyday. But they really are accommodating and helpful as well as friendly. As a family member just be mindful to check that those tasks are being followed through for them. Things can get miscommunicated from time to time.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home is an establishment that houses at least two persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its occupants with care by on-site nurses. These nurses offer health related services for people who cannot care for themselves due to their aging.
This type of facility is a helpful and comfortable care choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will usually admit persons 55 and above which is uncommon for other senior care types. Some services come at an extra cost which can include flowers and plants, special care services not included in the facility’s Medicaid payment, and a private room, unless medically needed. Often times seniors may choose life in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a physical or mental disability that makes it difficult for them to accomplish the activities of daily living. Nursing homes are required to provide pharmaceutical services, emergency dental services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), and a professionallly directed program of activities to residents. Types of amenities and servicesoffered at nursing homes can include monitoring of medication, intravenous or nutrition therapy, 24-hour emergency care, and help with legal questions. Many inhabitants are bachelors or widows who have smaller social support groups, and almost 50% of nursing home residents are over the age of 85.
