Nottingham Village in Northumberland, PA

I am very impressed with this center. It is beautiful with much to offer. The care is excellent. The nursing staff is wonderful. The aides do a great job and the activity director keeps it entertaining. The dining room is so elegant and the kitchen personal offer a fabulous menu to choose from. They allow pets so it’s so therapeutic for the residents.

Vintage Knolls in Danville, PA

It's roomy, many areas where residents can spend individual time or visit with other residents without being alone in their rooms all the time. Quality of food is very good. I think it is very homey.

Serenity Gardens in Kulpmont, PA

Some staff definitely go above and beyond and give time and show they care to the individuals. The activities coordinator is great at keeping the individuals busy. The staff are why we chose this facility. My mom does not love the food, but her overall care is more important.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that houses at least two individuals who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. This type of establishment offers its occupants around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers provide care for seniors who cannot care for themselves because of mental or physical conditions.

This type of facility is a helpful and comfy living option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will frequently take in persons 55 and greater which is unusual for other senior care types.Nursing homes are required to provide pharmaceutical services, dietary services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), and medically-related social services to residents. A large portion of nursing home residents are seniors who have mental or physical disabilities, require assistance with daily tasks such as bathing, experience difficulty with hearing and vision, or have incontinence issues. Many residents are single women who have less social support, and about 50% of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. The most common mental condition experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their decision making capabilities, and their sense of familiarity with their surroundings, and memory recall. Some services come at an extra cost which can include specially prepared food, cosmetic and grooming items, and a private room, unless medically needed.
