My Dad went from the hospital to Brookdale Grayson view. He had pneumonia and also has dementia. The staff and residents really took him under their wing to help him to feel comfortable. He had a hard time at first but to our surprise it’s 2 months later and he’s smiling and even laughing more than we’ve seen him do in a long time. It’s set up in a rectangle so it’s hard to get lost. There’s a lovely place to sit outside and Dads out there a lot. This place is updated, the staff is so great and Dads needs are taken care of.... Read more

For my loved one's long term policy, they need a form filled out and sent in at the end of the month and the invoice hasn't been done properly several times. I also didn't receive a statement for September from Brookdale before payment was withdrawn from her checking account. Hopefully these issues improve. I get tired of having to make phone calls to SHIP and Brookdale.

There is one thing that concerns me and that is my aunts ability to be more mobile in your facility. With only one arm/hand to navigate her wheelchair and using her feet to propel her; it seems to me that she would be more independent with one. Thanks for reaching out. I really appreciate it.

It was everything we believed our parents needed. We chose Brookdale because it was near us, near my mother's all-time favorite thrift store, not too far for her to drive to their hometown, everything is on one level, no need for elevators, dog is allowed (no stairs for their older dog to have to navigate either), veterans' photo display case for honoring veterans, Bible studies and other activities, the appeal of the soda shop, hair salon, Colonial style building, courtyard, rural area but near university (so lots of music concerts and lectures) and nearby fast food and other restaurants. The staff was kind and friendly (the only reason for not putting 5 is that most of the times when we came in, no one was at the front desk and it was hard to find someone to ask a question of. Once we found someone, that person was always kind and helpful.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Grayson View and overall her experience at this facility has been mostly good so far. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The care services, activities and value for cost are also great. The staff and the meals and dining are poor. My suggestion for improvement would be to get more staff and serve the meals all together and faster. The kitchen service is terrible.

Brookdale Grayson View was an older facility. It felt so congested, with small hallways. There was too much noise in the hallway. We just didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling we were looking for.
Response from Brookdale Grayson View
March 14, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to visit and are sorry to hear you feel this way. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
They want everyone to use their medical services so that no one leaves the facility right now. They are still locked down pretty tight and we hope that ends soon. They only have visitation for 2 hours during the day so it can be hard to visit.

They accepted my Dad even though at the time he had behavior issues. The staff said it would not be a problem. Well after a month and a half it was an issue. He went to the hospital and they didn't want him back. They didn't return any of my $3,700 community fee however. There was no problem with Grayson View keeping that.

I think compared to the other facilities in our area Emeritus at Grayson View is far ahead of them. I would highly recommend it. In fact a friend of ours just recently placed their family member here because of our recommendation. I am very pleased with this facility.

Very happy with the attention and care given to my relative residing at this facility when an accidental fall happened. Staff was very friendly and helpful from day one. When touring facility residents voluntarily offered their opinion that they were happy with the facility. Would recommend to others.

Overall we're very pleased with how things have gone with Emeritus at Grayson View, I'd give it top marks across the board. It's a clean, well kept, nice looking community, and the staff all seem very friendly. My loved one seems to enjoy the food, and what we got to try during the tour was good as well!

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Grayson View 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
